Lovely motors. The Celsior is rare in the UK because we had the Lexus brand in the 90s so the Celsiors are all imports. I'm just on to my second Lexus LS400. The first was a mint 96 which I bought at the end of lockdown 2020, ran for a year and made money on. I bought another last week. A 97 and not so mint but I will not lose money on it. Don't waste your time and money on the cars from Stuttgart and Munich, the LS400 runs rings around them 😉
I bought one as second car, just for fun. Now Its my daily. I love the way it drives. I used to drive mostly BMW 5 series but I cannot part from my LS400.
The LS400 are awesome cars. We own a 1998 Toyota Crown 3.0 which my wife drives as her daily that we bought 12 years ago at 110,000kms and now has 370,000kms on the clock. Has been super reliable and still in excellent condition. I drive a 2010 Holden Sports Wagon which I love but am seriously considering selling it to buy a LS400 which I prefer over the LS430.
can anyone comment regarding the potential "electrical issues" with leaking capacitors, faulty ecu etc... Are these types of issues "common/frequent' on a Celsior ? And if yes - how hard it is to get replacements parts ? Thanks
They're reliable, but you gotta keep in mind the maintenance. If you just use aftermarket parts to fix it, it WILL become unreliable. If it has problems, OEM OEM OEM. The aftermarket powersteering pumps suck, the aftermarket starters, suck, aftermarket bushings outside of poly figs/superpro, suck. Then you get into the cars with electronic boosters, ANYTHING NOT OEM, SUCKS, and they're expensive. You can go junkyard on some of these parts and luck out tho. Yeah it will be more expensive most of the time, but you'll get double the time out of the parts.
98-00 has your model lights.98-00 have vvti and 5spd transmission. Make sure to change your rear differential Fluid use amsoil gear oil. Nice car the way. I have a 00 in Imperial jade mica. How long I lookes for it!😳
Stately and modern looking car, even today. I noticed your model has the touch screen, have you had any issues with it? I have a 98 LS400 (weekend driver) and it's the best car I've ever owned.....a small thrill every time I sit in the driver's seat. Everything works, although the touch screen can sometimes take a minute or two to activate. Great video, looking forward to more updates.
Hi Jess I have a LEXUS LS400 1997. The parts are so expensive and hard to get in NZ. Runs really well. Cheap on Petrol for a V8. Love the car just can't afford it. It needs someone to give it some TLC. Know anyone looking for one
Mine blew up on me couple weeks ago 1995 ls400 with 157k miles gotta break it down to see where it’s at got a chunk of metal from the manifold area leaking oil from plenum and flywheel
I brought my 1996 LS 400 for $1,200. Had to put a transmission in, but it's truly worth. The things so smooth. I love it.
Good to hear brother they’re an underrated car honestly
How did the old transmission go wrong? Kinda surprising considering how reputed these are for reliability
How many miles
Bro do you still have this car it looks super clean in the white 👌

Nope this car is mintttt
I love 400s and Celsiors but I really don’t like cloth/ fabric which is the only downside I see
I’ve though about getting one of them but they just are going for so much!
They’re only going higher 😬
There's only a few here in the USA!
This video really makes me what one 😮
Got the 2001 GS430 lexus

What do you think about the 2nd gen lexus gs430
I don’t really have to much of an opinion on them to be honest it’s like the same car with different looks almost, what do u think?
@Jesse G I never drive a ls400, so I'm not sure .the gs430 rides great, and it's a little fast
Hah yeah well I’ve only driven my one so I can’t really say sorry
I just want people to buy them before the kids do and destroy them at takeovers. They’ve already started doing it with the GS
Agreed
Would you recomend to buy one with 180k miles on it??
Yes sure they’re known to be one of Toyotas most reliable engines aswell as the 2jz
Thank you
I find mine is cheaper to run than my diesel, but I only used on long trips,800km to a tank, and that's not going slow..
Yeah they aren’t to bad a but a Corolla would do better
just bought mine with 106k miles for 4,100 usd in november of 2022
That’s pretty good bro
That’s a really good deal. I have 535,000 miles on mine and it’s perfect for me. I love it.
