      Hi Joyce - it's a ton of work, but I'm slowly going to pace them when current WIPs get done. There are even earlier project bags I've paired patterns and yarn with from around 12 months ago. Every so often I like to record the fun process of how I work in my head.

    So excited to see the shawl that Hank has on again! It is a real work of art. Yaga Yaga is an artistic designer! I also love collecting patterns. A while back Toni Lipsey and A Guy with a Hook both authored Tunisian crochet books. I got both of them. I bought my first mosaic pattern from the latter designer a few years back. I’ve been watching Beba’s UA-cam videos. If you need help look her videos up.

    I love digital patterns because I can have many of them without taking up much physical space. Sometimes I print the patterns (if I'm going to be working on it anywhere away from my computer) but mostly I just have it open on my screen while I work. I do still have way too many crochet books, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

    • @urbanyarn
      @urbanyarn  Місяць тому

      I agree with you Denise - a variety of each pattern type (digital or print) is the way to go. I do like moving away from screen time over the weekend, but like to keep crafting - and a paper version is my go to.

    Hi Gary, Beautiful patterns as usual. I prefer a hard copy, book or printed pattern because if your device crashes you're stuck. I also remember a knitting magazine that was electronic that went out of business and all the patterns went poof, gone.

    Hi Gary, good to see you dipping into mosaic crochet. I haven't tried BebeBlanket patterns yet. For using 2 different yarns, use the hook that works best with the larger yarn to achieve the best fabric. I think it puckers if you use a smaller hook to suit the lighter weight yarn. Enjoy!
    I'm a hard copy person. Write down alot of notes as I go. I think I like getting away from technology when I craft.
    Take care.

    I absolutely love having a physical book!!
    I found a westknits best knits book I'd been looking for for ages!! (Someone actually had the nerve to post it on Amazon for $4K!! Yes, you read that right!!) I got it for $35 shipped! 😂
    They accidentally sent me the wrong one (I already had it) the bookstore was so amazing, they let me keep it AND sent me the correct one!!
    So I have 2 of volume #1. (I love to gift it to someone special. 😉😉😉 But I'd don't have an address)
    I believe they're both out of print now.
    I like that the patterns are also downloadable with the code in the back... Because I actually like to work off of a tablet sometimes.
    Although I love writing all over my patterns because I change things. 😁

    I absolutely adore a tangible book pattern... but prefer digital individual patterns.
    Oh I love Beba's designs - you should enjoy making it.
    Youre spot on re the Gansie jumpers being used to help identify bodies washed ashore after storms etc. Apparently there is a very basic reason why only the top half of the jumpers body and sleeves are patterned. This is because most garments get damage to the lower body or lower sleeve and thus were easier to repair as the bottom halves were simple stockinette. Love the detail you put into your videos.

    • @urbanyarn
      @urbanyarn  Місяць тому +1

      The history of these wearable knits is so fascinating! Your comment about the lower half of sweaters needing more repair so stitches were more traditionally stockinette makes perfect sense.

      @@urbanyarn I lost everything. My pets, my yarn, my crochet hooks and knitting needles. Basically I lost everything. But thanks to the first responders I am still here.

      I’m speechless and extremely sorry to read this. As you have written - you still have life and that is so precious. Sending you much ❤️ love.

    That's a signed copy. I suggest you make copies of the patterns you want to use (so you can scribble on them if/as needed) and keep the actual book only for special occasions - safely stashed.

      I'm just the opposite! The books I treasure the most are the ones that have been written in!

      Hi Marpor - I just recently discovered that all the Stephen West books have a Code on the back cover to download all the digital patterns. So I get the best of both worlds - I'm gushing that I got a signed copy!

    Hi Gary, was excited to see your makes. So many patterns can’t wait to see what you do with them. I’ve never learned to read patterns so rely on tutorials to make things. 🧶🫂

      I also watch tutorials to learn new stitches I'm not familiar with.
