- Paestum is a beautiful place, where you can visit ancient Greek ruins, in a fully immersive way. It is derfinitely a place to see in Italy. And, being just over a two hour drive, from our home in Scalea, Italy, this wonderful and breath-taking experience is something that we simply had to do. In this episode, we take you with us, as we (with our dear friend, Christy) visit the ruins, and the museum, of Paestum, an acient Greek site, in Campamia, Italy. We spend time walking in the temple, as well as on the old road. We look at the ruins of old villas, and shops, and get lost in the wonderment of history. Then, after walkiing through the entire archaeological park, we make our way into the museum, where we get see magnificent artifacts, such as pottery, frescos, armor, and even a skeleton. It was truly an amazing day, and we are happy to share it with you, as we branch out of our hometown of Scalea, and start to see other great parts of Italy.

OMG! I was there way back in 1968 on a cold, cloudy November day when the place was deserted. I think it was before it became a paid tourist attraction. It looks amazing in sunlight! Thanks for the tour. P.S. I really admire Michael...he is always such a trooper. I have arthritis in my knees and it makes me so cranky (although my hubby says I've been cranky for the entire 35 years we've been together!)

You know, I'm a restorer of monuments and archaeological finds, like the ones you saw on this trip. So for me, who love my work so much, seeing that you were so involved and excited moved me so much.
Seeing, touching “living” an archaeological site, is like being on a time machine: it was a place full of life, the streets are those where our ancestors really walked, there they lived. It is an emotion that no photograph or virtual tour can give.

Although I know about Paestum, I have never been. Good morning, I hope you had a wonderful Easter! We are making our way to Scalea this morning. My husband has been on a lot of pain with his arm/shoulder, tendons possibly or muscle? I was wondering if you could recommend a doctor in the area? We have tried everything over the counter and even a massage. Thank you for any help.
@@nonnaknowz Hi there. Rather than recommend a doctor, I would say it would be just as beneficial to go to a pharmacy. (We go to the one in the Piazza, across from Dolce Isola. The pharmacist there is very knowledgeable. And, one speaks English well enough that, if you speak slowly, and tell your problems, he should be able to help point you guys to what is going to work best to help with the pain.
