Liking that home built console and the Whelen siren , true believer of using a Whelen siren. If they don't see you coming then they ought not be on the road!
Very impressive set up. I, myself, use Speed Tech Lights, and I highly recommend them to anyone in any field of work that requires emergency, or warning lights.
If you're looking to upgrade your lights check out Feniex Lighting they're the brightest on the market and are also made in America plus since you live in Texas Feniex is in Texas so it'll get there to your 20 quicker and the shippping is cheaper since its a local company, I've used Speedtech, Wheleen and Federal Signal before I used Feniex and they don't stand up to the quility and brightness of Fneiex Industries
Nice video Just subscribed to you and glad you posted a video on this, hard to find videos on speed tech lights setups and thinking of doing a pov but not sure on weather to hook all the lights up to main battery or a separate battery bank????
Give them a call. Their customer service is top notch as far as I'm concerned. I chose a package that they had listed yet I already had the siren and speaker and they gladly allowed me to swap those items for a second visor light and grill lights that equaled the same amount. They are definitely worth giving a chance.
B-E-A-utiful maybe you should professionally install for profit. Suggestion for the box is a nice stain or faux covering. Just ordered STL TD Grille ™ will be installing on a POV thanks for the ideas.
The console, made out of Birch Plywood, just has a Linseed Oil Finish on it, I didn't want a really dark stain in there. The lighter color blends in pretty well with the rest of the interior.
If you dont mind me asking, with all these lights and everything, Did you have to buy a BIGGER or much mre powerful Battery for your truck than what it came with lets say from the dealership, and when you use these, do you always keep your vehicle's engine running the whole time when they are on, cause thinking if you didnt, all those would probably drian the battery rather quickly wouldnt they, but must say everything looks great, but you didnt decide to do anything with the truck's Fog lights or whatever those are on the Front bumper????
nice setup. i'll be geting lights from them for when im plowing snow. wish i could get red/blue lights for when im out at the farm. i have people that are trespassing on my land. red/blue lights would make them run like hell. hell they might even stop so then i can tell them to never come back.. lol
+MRJOHNDEERE3720. :) Thats the good thing about living here in Texas, there are no rules or restrictions on color selections. If your vehicle is used as an Emergency Vehicle you are allowed to run Red/Blue
+Don Johnson man think you for this info I do emergency roadside assistance and I want red and blue lights on my service vehicles so it's legal in Texas for us to run red and blue lights on them
I've purchased a number of the Z-4s and the strobe kit and although the construction of the lights seems good I've had some issues with syncing them; I can explain if anyone is interested. Don how did you get your Z series lights to alternate left right such as those on the front bumper? (Assuming those are Z's) I will say that SpeeTech customer service has been good and responsive, but I'm a little unhappy that their lights don't exactly do what they say they do, that synchronizing has been a problem, that the wire lengths included with the lights is so short, and that they don't make a control box that takes advantage of all the features of the Z's.
How are the lights holding up? I'm planning on using these to respond to calls and I would like a decent product. I've heard STL starts wearing down quickly. Is this true?
Jon Reece probably a little late on this reply; but I've had blue first responder bars from STL for 2 years in my car, still bright as hell and no issues with it
Speeding Bullet Thanks for the reply! I ended up going with CPS authority on the exterior light package. I like STL for the interior lighting though. Both STL and CPS are great products. (Especially for the price!!!)
It was actually meant to go in the rear window but the mounts wouldn't turn enough for a 90* mount so I mounted it outside. Yes, probably a little overkill but I tend to go to the extremes at times. lol!
Only other thing you could have done is to add lights down by the trucks stepping boards or running boards, or whatever they are called, like these on thiis dodge charger in the video: ua-cam.com/video/QYq_Eutupck/v-deo.html
+Steve Franklin In over a year that I've had these on here I've never caused a secondary accident. People definitely see me and slow waaayyy down and move over like they are supposed to. I've had oncoming traffic pull to the shoulder 1/2 mile ahead of me because they can see me coming. I've been able to slow traffic on the Interstate with no issues in order to assist stranded motorists. This set up will get your attention and works very well.
+Paul Atherton It didn't have a large enough lip around the facing edge of the siren box to hold it so it was just easier to mount it to the front edge and run my wiring into the box.
This law is different in many states. Firefighters are not supposed to have red and blue lights alone towards the front of the vehicle unless there is another color like you see on fire engines (red, blue, green, amber) but like this gentleman had red and white towards the front and red blue white and amber in the back is completely legal and honestly is a nice pov set up
Great video Don! Thanks for sharing.
Your lights suck
Great setup! (4 years later, lol) Would love to see an update on what you have now

It's been a couple years now; how has everything held up?
I changed all my emergency lights to SpeedTech. They are a very good product. Customer service was very helpful. Thanks SpeedTech!

While the cannons beat the the vertexs I still think the avenger beats the Apollo dash. But both are very good brands
Apollo uses t6 or f6 i think it is. New Fusion version of that lighthead is 80 percent brighter now. Would be interesting to re-compare.

All mine run on a 8ga wire from the fuse box under the hood to the console. I don't have anything tied directly to the battery
Alright sounds good thanks brother
Needs more lights lol! Great video, it's hard to find review vids of STL. I'm prolly gonna get lights for my vehicle from them.

I'd love to do installs if I could find the business
Don Johnson Yeah Don, you should install professionally. Not a wire in sight. Do you do installs on Dodge pickups?
If it can be mounted, I can find a way! Ford, Dodge, Chevy, it doesn't matter. They're all the same.

lucky.. mine would be used on the farm 4 those trespassers.. lol

STL lights is quality - personally i think people are too negative about them
Question: the ones on your front bumper, did you just use the sync wire on the light heads themselves, or did you hook them to a flasher unit?
What is the length of your roof mounted lightbar?
How are these holding up after 7 years of use?

Can you make a tutorial of how you wired this. I am looking to do the same thing in my POV with the switches to power all the stl switch boxes
How does it work in clear traffic for u
How did you get the z-3 lights to alternate in that pattern?
What size is the main light bar on your truck?

Great Video! I don't think you need that light on top of the tool box.

Haha gotcha!
i hope that's not full brightness
awwwweeeesome

Nice. A little overboard though. Gonna cause an MVA a night.

Don Johnson Well we are limited on lights here.
You can never have to much lights from my experience the more lights the more visible you are.
why didnt you just put the siren in the console?
+Paul Atherton It didn't have a large enough lip around the facing edge of the siren box to hold it so it was just easier to mount it to the front edge and run my wiring into the box.
I thought red and blue isn't legal for firefighters

Michigan State law is red/white/amber only
I guess all states vary. Arizona for example, blue lights are illegal. Period. Only law enforcement vehicles.
why is this in comedy category???
Because having that many lights on a POV is a joke
Are you a cop ?
Volunteer firefighter
About half the brightness of Federal Signal or Whelen.
Pure dumpster fire
Not very bright
