Luterano A Catholic German Soldier has saved the essential of the Archives of Montecassino by transporting it , before the Merican bombing , with a camionetta from Montecassino to Roma He made around 150 transportations supperating all the dangers. His name remains ignored. He merits the Beatification for having saved an inestimable heritage of millenial European religious and historical culture.
I take it the real bombing footage wasn't declassified in 1946, looks like somebody is throwing stones at a model of the abbey? As for the destruction I know it was wrong and civilians were killed, but their intelligence was wrong, wanting to clear out the Nazi's thought to be inside it, they were entrenched around it not inside the abbey as they thought. The other reason was to keep them busy while Normandy was invaded.
They completely forgot why they were even bombing in the first place. They ended up making it their goal to destroy the building as opposed to the enemy, it seems they had abhorebtly bad Intel, and relied on false assumptions.
@@jamesgreen8573 ‘liberate’ Liberate it from what exactly? The Italian people put Mussolini in power, the Italian Mafia, alongside the British and Americans, removed him.
Our memory destroyed.
