- Hello friends, thank you for joining me on another walk. Today was wet, muddy and more of a challenge but I showed up and got the job done.
Having you in my pocket as I overcome personal challenges is very comforting and encouraging♥️
I have signed up to the stand up to cancel fundraising challenge. The challenge is to walk 60 miles during April with your dog.
This challenge is not su much the physical challenge for me but more to reclaim my joy and overcome anxiety and fear that has developed over the last 9 months or so. Geoff (our poodle) and I have walked miles every single day since he joined our family and it is or was the highlight of my day, sadly due to a couple of nasty and frightening experiences with dogs off their lead I became really anxious and scared…..as did Geoff.
This fear has resulted in us now only walking around the neighbourhood where we live and not venturing out over the fields and through the woods which breaks my heart. Well all that is about to change and through April I am going to conquer my anxiety, re-gain my joy in walking and re-build Geoff’s confidence too.

We too have had so much rain along with terrible wind. It is too easy for me to not bother getting out. But I know heat is just around the corner and then I can't be out much because of physical challenges. You are encouraging me to say get out now while the temperatures are low and I can. Keep up the good work Kelly!
High five for getting up and out despite the muck. My knit group has been my safe place for so long, most especially in the last year and a half as my 40 year marriage dissolved. As part of my recovery I acquired a Lab puppy. Tucker is 7 months old tomorrow and he gets me out of bed every day! I am not prone to wallowing too much but pre-Tucker I was sitting in my chair knitting for far too many hours. My emotional energy has been redirected as I train my dog and we walk 5-8 miles every day. We, too, are eager for dryer days so we can get out onto the forest trails here in the Portland, Oregon area.
Hi Kelly, you are an inspiration. I am really struggling at the moment with my anxiety for various reasons and you make me feel better on a daily basis. I need to motivate myself and get out and about more just the same. Thank you xx
I am sorry to hear you are struggling Catherine, please don’t be hard on yourself. To try and motivate yourself to do something, anything when every fibre of your beings is screaming NO is really hard. Having said that I know from my Nick we can overcome it just one step at a time. We are all here cheering you on Catherine, I would love it if you joined me on a virtual walk, i will link arms with you and we will chatting away…. I reckon about knitting and cake!
You did it! You're doing amazing, Kelly. Awesome job trudging through that mud. I have to think you were supposed to be there to meet that rottie and his very nice mum- look forward to possibly seeing a full circle moment of a relaxed, fun walk together. Keep going- you're doing great!! We're all cheering for you from your pocket!
I agree she was very lovely and a walk together would be nice. Geoff would happily walk alongside others dogs and he does with his friends Bella and Poppy its the dogs that’s run up unannounced and start jumping that scare him. You see Geoff is a proper Gentleman from the days of Downton Abbey he likes to be formally introduced by the butler before play can commence.😂
So glade your back enjoying walks outside with Jeff ! You live in such a beautiful place! And so lucky to have a lovely neighbour give you her number to walk dogs with !
I do live with beautiful areas surrounding us but i really believe there is beauty to be found everywhere if we look hard enough.

Only negative things make the headlines dont they, but I still firmly believe in people and the kindness of strangers…….even ones with great big dogs! 😂

Well, same kind of weather today at Castle Howard! But even going round the walled garden in the rain had a magical charm! Here is one to tickle you about mud: a few weeks, walking in heavy mud, coming to the gate in between two fields… mini pond … no, I was determined not to cross in the water so I managed to climb on the fence and shuffle my way to get on the gate but once on it, no move😖 …so followed a few minutes of bum wiggling to get the gate in motion, under everybody else’s laughters but MOVE it did and guess who didn’t get soaked socks that day??? MOI! Resourceful definitely is the mother of invention! 🥰 for your sweet words!

You should definitely be proud of this one. That’s the first cow parsley I’ve seen too and we’re an hour and a half further south than you. It’s great to see you so happy and I can hear it in your voice too. We’ll done Kelly xx

Ha! Me and Nick keep saying the exact same thing, we have floods and the ground is absolutely saturated but before long we will be in drought. It is laughably British but also scary. Thank you for your donation today, I appreciate it. X

I can totally relate to your fears. Thank you for sharing this. Also, I know from my own experience, once you plow through a wet day on one of your first walks, nothing will stop you now. It sounds like you have conquered your fears now👏 i hope so. I would very much like this to become a thing I do for me everyday not just to fulfil Geoffs needs and I believe it will,…..i am so enjoying it.

So lovely to be “with” you and Geoff. Its so lovely to see the vivid green of spring, we are currently living in Saudi where at the moment we are having spring showers, but not so much green. Thank you and well done you. Looking forward to more beautiful walks
Bloomin brilliant...well done...I walk with my Lola (british bulldog) she hated mud and water...but. after this winter she tippy toes thru puddles and mud 😊...we just hope we dont find a *vicar of Dibley* puddle😅😅
I am so happy to hear Lola is finding joy in puddle jumping. Geoff isnt bothered by mud and puddles in fact he likes them but the sound of rain on the car roof freaks him out!
I’m joining you on your walks ❤ You do so good, and thank you for sharing this with us! I decided to walk/ride on my bike for at least half an hour every day in April, just because I want to and it makes me happy 🍀 #goodformymentalhealth
Good for you, there is absolutely no better reason to get up and go for a walk or bike ride than it making you happy😃 x

Well done with your walk’s, I wish I could be more active but I have fibromyalgia /Chronic fatigue so I have to wait until I have a bit of energy- it’s good days and not so good days so on those days I manage to knit which brings me joy and gratitude and a sense of accomplishment- I had to give up my nursing career in 2012 a job I loved
But I’m used to working around that and keep busy with watching lovely videos of inspiring creative people like yourself Kelly- so joyful 🙌😺😽😸😻❤️💜❤️Thank you!

Honestly i think it’s rained everyday in 2024 so far! It rained all evening yesterday after such a lovely day. It felt good today but I wont be going in those woods again until it dries up a bit! Have a great day x

Hi Kelly! I thought the exact same this this morning 'bo two days are the same!' We had sunshine on Sunday, rain on Monday, sunshine in Tuesday then rain again today on Wednesday! Like you, I did still go out for my daily walk and came home feeling awake, although wet! We both did well so a star to us both!
Dog walkers are so friendly. Most of the time I know the dog’s names but not the owner 😊
So true, we know everyone as Teds Mum, poppy’s mum 😂

Hi lovely, maybe wellies would help? I love not far from you and I've been living in mine for the past few months 😳 I do know what it's like taking a dog for a walk - we have an ' adopted' french bulldog who is very anxious around other dogs. See you at Wonderwool 🤗
Sadly wellies a no go, my legs are too fat and they become a tourniquet!! The last three years I have this little ankle wellies from Joules but they are not worth the money every pair has leaked. My new walking boots are fab and they are waterproof. See you at wonderwool, or maybe on a walk.
