      Depends, I definitely see it’s downfalls but I also got into it when I was healthy and it’s been great with only normal complications that any relationship would have

    I wonder if Drew lost 70% of his wealth to his wife and paying her lawyer bills, if he would feel the same way about marriage.

    In my experience most other married couples who felt everything changed at the altar don't last long. The marriage license is for securing property rights and legitimizing succession.

      Yeah, if everything changes when you get married then wtf were you doing before you got married? Marriage is literally just a relationship that youre now contractually obligated to uphold. If it all changes solely because you now have a contract involved then you obviously didnt have a healthy relationship beforehand

    It always bugs me when they don’t cut to the people laughing.
    There’s loud noises coming from the booth and the camera stays on the host not doing anything.
    Why?

  • @YesYES-no8kf

    Dr. Drew is thinking within a box when he talks about childrearing in ENM relationships. It seems complicated from the outside but when a child sees those relationships their parents have as a norm that perspective of complexity isn’t there. I do understand how in our current society it can look so boxed in but it really is not a negative for children and may even be a positive if those relationships are healthy

    • @Stephen-N
      @Stephen-N 2 роки тому

      Obviously if a relationship is healthy its good for the child ya dip ass, but what he's getting at its so difficult to maintain a healthy relationship with just 2 people let alone adding to that.

    • @sebyeet6
      @sebyeet6 2 роки тому +12

      It doesn't work. We are designed to be monogamous, poly is terrible for the children. The contract of marriage is important, having another partner in a marriage is wrong and most cultures think so.

    • @YesYES-no8kf
      @YesYES-no8kf 2 роки тому

      @@sebyeet6 that’s not true at all, I’ve read up on this and humans were for the better part of our history non-monogamous. Along with that, children do better when they have support and healthy parents. Doesn’t matter if it’s two parents or 6. Look how fucked up so many people are from two parent childhoods. I don’t know where we get the idea that it’s so great

    • @taylorlynch3405
      @taylorlynch3405 2 роки тому +1

      @@YesYES-no8kf Because it's true. It does work. They don't see it because it can't work. Cherry-picking your sources to back what you agree with is against the point of learning and growing which is something you're obviously doing and keep doing. Maybe all I'm saying is there is a real-life modern expert here telling you from modern experience based on both the past and present and this should be an attempt to learn from all of this

    • @YesYES-no8kf
      @YesYES-no8kf 2 роки тому

      @@taylorlynch3405 he is not an anthropologist, where do you get this idea that he is an expert on the subject? He is a doctor but not a doctor of anthropology so that whole idea that I’m going against someone who dedicated their life to the subject isn’t true. I am not cherry picking my sources by the way, I’ve looked at research into human behavior as it relates to other apes especially our close cousins bonobos and chimpanzees. Now I’m not an expert but I’ve found no expert telling me that humans were meant to be monogamous and have even found experts on human sexuality saying quite the opposite
