Hi Laura and Aaron, just wanted to let you know that you have really inspire me so much. I started planting new things in the front yard and now have turned the corner of our house to plant more. Thank so much you’ve helped create a garden monster lol.
You can never over do it with the affection for your kids. 💚 coming from a teacher, the kids who are super-loved at home have such an easier time. Keep laying on the cuteness!!
Oh i love hearing you talk about teaching Benjamin the delightful things. I do the same with my almost 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son. My daughter calls our neighbors plants, "lovely" on our walks. My son says, "that's amazing!" Or "the best in the whole world ever!" When he's upset he calls things, "cheeky rascal". Love from Texas ❤ 8b lol
Every time Laura talks about "moving", all I can think is Nooo! The Hartley! I could never leave after installing a Hartley. Hunter won't listen to me so maybe Aaron can suggest that the little tool they provide to "fix" the heads of the sprinkler system be NEON pink or orange so we can see them in the grass after adjusting! LOL I love that we got dinner ideas today, too! Have a great day!
The conversation is definitely fun. You balance each other out so well and give us lots to think about between your matching and differing opinions. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my when you said you have no humidity....don't know how to act without humidity! It's brutal at times working outside for sure, along with the gnats and mosquitoes!
My first experience with dry heat was in Swan Hill Australia and it was such a weird sensation having all the sweat wicked off my hands by the dry air. I can understand how Laura says she doesn't sweat.
Im so chuckling when you said" I put just a tiny bit closer then recommended." Houston we are so learning you but I confess I'd try since you did. Hurry up trees grow!!
Stick pieces of copper piping around hydrangea root sistem if you want blue blooms on your hydrangeas. When cupric oxide start to form, hydrangea blooms will start changing colour from pink to blue so it's not uncommon to get both blue and pink blooms on same hydrangea plant.
Regarding the hydrangeas, when i was a kid, my grandma had hydrangeas down the fenceline and she would pour pickle juice around half of em, more round the end and less at the others to make them fade from blue to pink, if that makes sense, im not sure how to explain, but it worked and they were glorious

Hi Laura, I was watching the most recent Summer Raine Oaks tour of her new property and she mentioned something that made me think of you. She said that she has to let her wood chips sit around and decompose for a while before using them on her planting beds because if you use them too soon they will cause chlorosis and mess with the soil ph. I know you guys use a lot of wood chips as mulch on your property and was wondering if this could be leading to your ongoing chlorosis problem? Aside from your natural soil acidity I mean. I’m in western Oregon, and I’ve noticed similar problems with my shrubs that get mulched. Unless you’ve already ruled that out, maybe it’s worth looking into? Anyways, thanks for the great videos as always. I’ve been watching your channel since the year you had that huge snowy winter, and you’re videos are a big part of what reignited my passion for plants and gardening. You inspired me to go buy a houseplant that very day and I’ve been growing things ever since. It’s a few hundred plants later at this point, my wallet doesn’t love you but I sure do. Thanks so much for the inspiration, you’ve done more for me than I could ever explain. Best to you and the family!
My understanding is that the dumped woodchips are only being put on the unplanted soil as a means to keep the dust down and in the future, they'll be mulched into the soil. I agree you should never put fresh chips around plants because they need to age.
I wish Aaron is in the video too since you guys are conversing in the video. It's nice to see him in videos and love your teamwork. Thanks for all you do. I learn so much from your videos and you inspire me to improve my garden (even though it gets expensive LOL)
I live in Florida we just deal with it, do gardening chores early or late in the evening. I do like sometimes in the summer nature provides all the watering. I haven’t had to water my garden in about a week now because of afternoon thunderstorms. I like tropical plants so I would not want live somewhere there’s freezing temperatures and snow
Cray enough I am a zone 6 and my Calla lily's come back up every year. They are planted in a south garden up against our cement porch that is raised. I have had them in the ground for 10 years. I think the south facing porch retains the heat in the winter which makes the ground if front of it very warm. I planted a new one last year in the same area and it came back up this year as well. You just never know. God is great.
You two are so amazing together I just love you both .. I’m sharing this particular episode with my daughter because I’m always telling her that her daughter is just as amazing as you Laura very smart intelligent and not afraid to create the gardens AND life you truly deserve .. I can’t remember which video we saw a brief clip of your son picking blueberries, but my wife and I were so taken by him. His genuine enthusiasm for the garden is “wonderful” (as he described it). And his manners! When he asked Laura if she would like one of the berries he’d picked. That was a PROUD PARENT moment. Keep up the good work. The seeds you are planting will germinate into wonderful adults who will love and respect their parents. 🤞👍🥰
Central Florida is hot, humid, afternoon thunderstorms, winds. Only crape myrtles along driveway are blooming well. They always look like fireworks for Independence day. We took out Zinnias in our round about for our granddaughters to plant watermelons. Not pretty, yet to flower, but we’re hopeful. We do have papayas about 3’ the girls grew from seed. When they are teens they may fruit. Meanwhile, foliage is interesting. After reading the comments this morning, 6/17, I will be personal Laura and Arron. My husband met me as a baby, he a tot. Our parents were friends. We grew up together, have been married nearly 52 years. Do not let the slings or arrows pierce you. Be yourselves, the couple God wrought together. You cannot overdo affection! You can overdo praise for ordinary accomplishments, but you simply can't overdo affection. I still remember, "Good job, mama!" on the trellis. Benjamin is such a little sweet♥️!
I feel like you guys would probably enjoy Southern California for the weather. It doesn’t snow there though and I don’t know how much you enjoy having a snowy winter.
You mentioned about your hydrangea and watering with vinager. My Ederly nieghbour has the healthiest Camilla bush with at least a gazillion blooms,,everyday she throws the left over tea in her tea pot on the plant. It is 10 years old and thriving😊
I buy the long tip butane lighters from the dollar store to heat up my ends for my drips to connect it all together. I just keep the lighter with my drip supplies. Works like a charm.
I Use a Black and Decker dual temp heat gun to soften the tubing for pushing in the connectors. Realize that holding the tubing near the direct heat stream rather than direct application will be the norm most application or very brief direct application because the heat is really hot and holding it too long in the heat will melt rather than soften the material.
Garden Answer/ Chad!! Perfect. I would love to see that. It would give us viewers even more inspiration. Try it, who knows, maybe it could be great like your channel is...Aaron's quit the wizard with that drone, I have to say:) These recap video's are the best.

What you need to do is buy a coffee machine that also grinds the beans so you can use the coffee grounds for plants that like more acidic soil.. Win win solution for coffee and plant lovers!! 😁
Yes the humidity is a game changer. I live in south Louisiana, you really have to get out early in the morning. But then you might be dealing with mosquitoes. We have had a lot of rain this spring and my weeds have so enjoyed it. I really need to get busy. Love your channel. You guys are raising an amazing young man. I am sure Samantha Grace will just as sweet.
I live in South Louisiana, also. I'm usually in my yard between 6:30a.m., and 7:00 a.m. I do what I have to do. I was born here, so I know to stay well hydrated. Thank, God, I love drinking water.
Lowes has brown solid tubing! It's the only kind in stock lately! I watch your videos every day! You have changed my life! I aspire to have my 1/3 acre to look even half as good as your garden! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
❤️AARON AND LAURA❤️ You should do a natural swimming pool! Best of both worlds you get your swimming area and pond all in one! And talk about the planting opportunities!!!
I live on the east coast in a humid area, where it rains at least once a week unless we're in a drought. My plants rot in the ground/pots, our insects are overwhelming, and I can barely breathe in the humidity of the summer. Every time I travel to a dry climate, even if it's super hot, I spend SO much more time outdoors, I WISH my life circumstances would change and I could move somewhere less humid.
I used to drain the black tubing for the winter as my area does freeze.. but I lost track of time and no longer do.. in the spring just make sure you flush it out before the season
I had high ph soil and water, and I used vinegar in my water to lower the ph of the water. It helped with the chlorosis I was getting. I didn't use a cup though.. that seems a lil high, but if you use straight vinegar on things, it will kill them.
Yep at my house in Nevada I have very alkaline soil and I add just a poured glub of vinegar to a 2 gallon water can once a month and All my plants love it!!🤗💚
Gardening in mid Michigan with the humidity means taking lots of breaks. When the sweat runs into your eyes, time to cool off. And then do it all over again.
@@margareteraab3899 Today was a beautiful day in Tecumseh 15 miles west of Ann Arbor the humidity was low what a difference that makes it the misqitos haven't been bad around here yet🌹
I have had in the past drip supply tubing in black. brown, tan, white and brick. This allowed me to disguise the tubing depending on area I was running supply across.
“I don’t know how you garden in that humidity”… Hahahha I don’t. When the temperature goes over 80ish and the humidity is high, I just can’t do it. Mornings and evenings in the shade is all I can muster. The struggle is real😊
I would buy ‘Aaron Irrigation Kits’! There’s so much to be improved on out there. Id like everything to be remote controlled. A way to swap sprayer heads to match how often i change my yard, and a way to turn on and off individual heads (and not an entire zone). Oh, and a good planning app so that i can map out my yard and match it to your kits
Laura I use a plumbing blow torch for drip system all the time you just have to be careful not to over heat cause it gets to soft and doesn't had enough rigidity to slide over the system
Oh yes, please talk about deer resistant plants. My daughter's new acreage is heavily treed and near the foothills of the Rockies, and the deer live in her yard. They're eating everything, one even went up to her deck and ate the Jalapeno pepper plant. Learn something knew everyday. I didn't know that deer liked pepper plants.
Laura does not have a problem with deer. Go to the UA-cam channel 'The Impatient Gardener'. The deer give her (Erin) fits too. She has done at least one video describing what she's tried in order to stop them. It is a difficult problem. Good luck to your daughter.
Laura, I know I'm late asking questions lol but can you do a video on the differences between baptisia, delphinium, lavender, salvia, and anything else that looks similar? Sometimes I have trouble understanding the differences. Thank you!
I was just thinking it would be nice to see pictures or short video clips of the projects you are recapping from the previous week… just to see the progression of how the flowers/plants are looking a week or however long it’s been between the initial video and the recap video 😊
KATHERINE MIESS, I have the answer for you. My husband and I experienced the same thing. The difference is the brand of tubing. Rain bird brand-nothing but struggle. Dig brand-super easy!!!! We used to be out there with hairdryers and lighters and hot water and still had to fight. Change brands=change your drip life.
You need to get yourself some Garden Straw or Easy Straw, I thought the same thing was going to happen with my straw but it doesn't blow away. Then over time the straw all sticks together and it would never separate.
I def see a pool in the back part of the garden...you know along the fenceline where the car drove through?...there. I would def put a pool there and then have a nice cabana where the king tut, now hydrangeas are....You've never really had a good purpose for that area. Just a thought.
I think it's the year of not doing spillers in pots. I love the pots I have bought over the past few yrs and don't want them covered all up by plants. So many people I know are doing the same.
Espoma Soil acidifier is perfect for turning the hydrangeas blue, worked like a charm for me….there’s no way I’d put vinegar on my precious plants, I’d have a nervous breakdown with every drop poured on them out of fear it would kill them 😂
Today would have been a good day to try the pony tail. Fyi I have used Swallowtail seeds and I liked them. The tiny seeds are coated which made starting easy and good germ rate.
Would adding iron objects (garden sculptures) or simply driving in iron rods into the soil near suffering plants help with the iron issue (in addition to adding amendments)?
I still think the pool would go great in that formal garden that you haven't done two much with . has the three urns in the middle and the different grass. fix the block with that space with a pool! it is already a separate room on the property!!
I was getting ready for bed but hang on, there’s a Laura & Aaron video!! Lol
Same here Maryanne lol
Me too but bed can wait. This is more important ☺️
Lol, me too!

❤️AARON AND LAURA❤️
You should do a natural swimming pool! Best of both worlds you get your swimming area and pond all in one! And talk about the planting opportunities!!!
How are you doing today jayca and how is the weather over there
Ha! Regarding moving, I am in AZ high desert and often dream of being somewhere God helps with the watering ❤
Regarding a pool...you could get a recreational pond! The pond guy that did your pondless waterfall does those all the time.. something to consider!
Laura and Aaron!!! The plant tone is working wonders in my pots. My purple supertunias are going crazy!!! Great suggestion!!!
Hi Laura! Midwesterners garden in the early morning or evening. You just get use to the humidity
Yep at my house in Nevada I have very alkaline soil and I add just a poured glub of vinegar to a 2 gallon water can once a month and All my plants love it!!🤗💚
It's always good to experiment to find answers and to improve production.
Planted in ground. In the fall the leaves turn yellow and winter in ground. The next year they come up around end of May. So far so good.
Gardening in mid Michigan with the humidity means taking lots of breaks. When the sweat runs into your eyes, time to cool off. And then do it all over again.
In the south, we just wipe and keep going. I'm pretty much just wet all day on gardening days.
Ann Arbor area here
Joan, I'm 74 so it's not that easy anymore. Hahaha 😂 but I do the best I can.
Deborah, I'm in Saginaw. Today was great. Two hours straight and have evening watering to do yet.
Hi Laura and Aaron! This was another great recap! Thank you so much for sharing!
“I don’t know how you garden in that humidity”… Hahahha
I don’t.
How are you doing today Sarah and how is the weather over there
Great recap!! Share your recipes this week!!
I’ve alway use a lighter to heat put the tubing…makes it so easy
Hi, love your videos. A group of magpies is called a parliament here in the UK 🇬🇧 xx
Laura I use a plumbing blow torch for drip system all the time you just have to be careful not to over heat cause it gets to soft and doesn't had enough rigidity to slide over the system
Ordered for the 1st time this year from Botanical Interests and have had excellent results. Beautiful plants and packaging
Thank you!
How are you doing today Ashleigs and how is the weather over there
Wow! That flashback when Benjamin was a baby really shows how much Samantha Grace looks like him🥰
Annie with Annie’s Annuals advocates one variety of plant per container. Then, she says, one can rearrange to get different looks successfully.
Try the liquid feed everywhere week, versus every week.
Annie grows some monster plants!
I have the same result with Botanical interest seeds
I was just thinking it would be nice to see pictures or short video clips of the projects you are recapping from the previous week… just to see the progression of how the flowers/plants are looking a week or however long it’s been between the initial video and the recap video 😊
How are you doing today pam and how is the weather over there
KATHERINE MIESS, I have the answer for you.
Then over time the straw all sticks together and it would never separate.
if you have PVC you hook a compressor to the main and blow it out before you turn it off.
Expect one of those inserts in the mail next week! Lol
Can you do a fertilizer of different brands comparison vs buffer with no fertz to see how each on performs?
Maryland is beautiful to plant in. We would welcome you with open arms. 😃
I def see a pool in the back part of the garden...you know along the fenceline where the car drove through?...there. I would def put a pool there and then have a nice cabana where the king tut, now hydrangeas are....You've never really had a good purpose for that area. Just a thought.
I was super happy to see a video!!! Yayy!! 💜💚💜💚💜💚It makes plants stronger 😉
We all love a king of improvement
I would love to see a video of favourite top 10 large shrubs.
I think it's the year of not doing spillers in pots. I love the pots I have bought over the past few yrs and don't want them covered all up by plants. So many people I know are doing the same.
I won’t mind weekly dinner ideas 🤪
Apparently there are several names for groups of magpies; choose from the following: charm
, congregation, gulp, murder, tiding, tittering.
Please show us one day how you do the Belgium waffles! that should be fun-----and messy!!😋😋😋😋😋
I still think the pool would go great in that formal garden that you haven't done two much with . has the three urns in the middle and the different grass. fix the block with that space with a pool! it is already a separate room on the property!!
You should do some cooking videos :) Those dinners sound yummy!
