After 40 years of wearing various fragrances I always come back to this. It is outstanding in terms of class. Not everyone will get it. Probably only those with a discerning taste.
It's intelligently formulated with as you say a change of character throughout the day.
    It is everything you describe.

I have learned more about this, my life long sigature!..Yes, close to the skin, but this is the epitome of what a true classic cologne smells of. Seductive, to say the least especially at close-range;)
Now, for something very close (only the opening), but with beastly protection AND longevity...Tiffany For Men. Same perfumier, btw..
    Aces, AC.

*This is a timeless male Chanel masterpiece. Wore the EdT, it smells gorgeous classy from the zesty citrus opening to the wonderful oakmoss drydown! It's in my wishlist (along with Antaeus), one day it will be mine. Great in-depth review as always, AC! Have a great chilly sunday!* ☕🤩👍

Superb fragrance. Projection is subtle and very classy. Nothing compares with this. Original formula my favourite. I have found it smells stronger in the cold air.

So many fragrances, so little time AC! Another bottle I must have. I have a few Chanel and I love them : No5, No19, and Antaeus. It’s interesting that it’s classed as a barbershop scent in spite of its nobility inspired origins. It does kind of elevate the humble genre which pleases me. Fine review AC. ( no flowers today? )

Another very well thought out review. I absolutely love a good classic masculine citrus. I’m imagining this is in the same family with Eau du Rochas which I just love. It is so clean and bright and unapologetically for men. Use it frequently at the office and love every minute of it. I need to get my nose on this one. Enjoyed. 👍🏻

Oh man late to comment. Another great review of course. Happy to have found enough of the concentree to hold off on getting the edt until I have the recent edp. When I smelled the concentree, could see where Allure Homme Sport came from. Smells so "Chanel;" more "modern" than Eau Sauvage or even my vintage, but way younger, Armani Eau Pour Homme. Aristocratic, non-shouty for sure. Great review. Love this scent; my new fav Chanel. Oh and liked the inclusion of photos.

Im 40 and Ive just smelled pour monsieur a couple of years ago for the first time and I really love it it has become one of my favorites ,it is not something that brings memories for example I have a bottle of the 60s of Lanvin- Monsieur and it reminds me of my childhood smelling it within my family or someone close, I don't know if you have tried Lancetti- Monsieur it is also a wow for me in the direction of CPM , lancetti monsieur is the one I use in winter, nice review.

I agree totally with your review A.C, I own the concentree. Version, I was lucky, I bought mine in Barcelona about 10 years ago for about £45.00, I still have the bottle about 1/2 full, beautiful, one of my all time favourite fragrances, classy, sefisticated, but as you say, performance is slightly flawed as far as projection is concerned, still when dressed appropriately it's perfect, thanks A.C another great review.

As has been said many times, "class in a bottle". I wore it with a suit a tie to work all through the 1980's, until I discovered the louder Kouros and Drakkar Noir.

  • @kombasanpracka
    @kombasanpracka 4 роки тому +2

Very nicely described and I do agree. I just can´t imagine who could possibly dislike this gorgeous scent. I´m below 40 and I loved this scent since the first sniff (unlike the EDP).
But from my experience the longevity really isn´t good. 2 hrs and it´s gone (tested at home in 22 deg. Celsius) ... I can smell it again if the sprayed spots get wet again. So yes, this frag needs heat and maybe a little bit of sweat to work for a longer time.
Guerlain Habit Rouge L´Eau is another great alternative to Chanel Pour Monsieur. They share the same kind of soapyness, both very classy and ellegant, yet timeless ... not oldschool at all. Guerlain has better performance and is much cheaper - very good alternative.
And what about taking a look at Caron Le 3 Homme and Caron Yatagan? Both very interresting, classy, manly fragrances ...and maybe daring in case of Yatagan - but it´s so interresting I love to wear it ... it provides me a good mood :).

Thank you for watching my friend and glad you enjoy this as much as I do. The opening is so so good, I just love it.

Usualy I laugh when reviewers say frag smells “expensive” or “like money” but you might be on to something with comparisons to old money. It’s an understated scent much like most of chanel exclusifs. Old money usually despises the loudness of new money, so this scent is right up their alley:)

Another great review! Now, I do believe I'm not that "mature" to wear such fragrances yet, but I will grow, or my nose will grow to like such scents. Still waiting for samples from Montale & Mancera to give you feedback on Wild fruits and some other scents, that I've been trying to explore lately. Also ordered a bottle of Rasasi's Daarej, so cheap that I couldn't resist. I have a few Rasasi fragrances and I do enjoy wearing them all, hope that Daarej is also a nice one.
    Take care,
    Stoyan

I absolutely love this fragrance, the only reason I don't have it is because I have very poor performance with this fragrance, on my skin lasts about 3h on summer (I don't care if it projects or whatever, but I do need to feel the fragrance, unfortunately with this one I stop feeling it after 2h top :( ) and since it's not exactly inexpensive there are always other fragrances that give me more for the money. Nonetheless one of my favs from chanel, timeless classic. The edp doesn't even come close to this one, would love if they could make an edp that smelled just like this one

I wore it back in the 1980's and it was pretty strong back then. I had the "concentree" splash version (and still have about 10% of the bottle left). I'm sorry I didn't buy a few cases for the future. As far as the scent goes, it's been called "class in a bottle". Perfect with a suit, pressed shirt and tie. I used to feel naked if I left the house in the morning without splashing it on. It perfectly compliments business attire.

    • @kasper9582

Shave- a-thon Luca Turin (like him or not) also have it on his best cheap bottle list. With the price for it, there is no problem to buy it and try.
The scent sounds amazing, but the “spray often” will turn me away from bottles. There is soooooo many amazing choices today, and the longevity is very important for me overall.
