Some answers to your questions: Tintin starts in 1930 but the book you’re showing are stories from the 50s. Hergé is pronounced with a soft g. You pronounced Georges Remi alright, though he pronounced it with no accent on the e of his last name. The colors are original indeed, done by assistants with gouache on blue line print under a film print of the black line. It’s inked with a quill. There is some rapidograph in the backgrounds for technical stuff but the visual language of Tintin avoided variation of line width as much as possible, and made sure to always have a somewhat shaky line, so everything isbmostly quill. The originals are roughly 3 times as big as your copy. The usual printing size is roughly 8,5x11. The cars and buildings were done by assistants specialized in their fields. The cars in these episodes are drawn by Roger Leloup who did Yoko Tsuno. Secondary characters are drawn by Bob DeMoor and Jacques Martin, the latter did Alix on his own. As for racial stereotypes, Hergé grew up in a right-wing conservative, christian, colonislist, belgian-monarchist environment and Tintin was first published in newspapers with the same inclinations. The humanistic genius of Tintin is that it evolves very much over the course of the series, opening up to the world and its nuances, as working on the strip made Hergé more and more sensible to the issues he was talking about, so the philosophical evolution of Tintin really is what’s admirable. From the first episodes where he’d just asccept colonislism with no questions, Hergé goes on to denounce colonislism 15-20 years later with virtuosity and subtlety, for instance, but also the excesses of capitalism, the destabilization operations in foreign countries, the judging of other cultures, the opium wars the oil wars, and much more. The episode with the bunch of black guys you were showing actually talks about underground slavery networks, and not only denounces it, but also shows these characters in a very humane light, being victim of their lack of secular education in how they are manipulated into boarding the boat, a highly pertinent, moderate and deep commentary for such a tricky topic, especially in a comic intended for kids. Finally, another strenght of Tintin is that Hergé lived through the second world war in Belgium, dealt with the nazi occupation of Belgium, befriended the king, suffered depression and anxiety, and all of these very personnal topics found their way into the stories, though they seem trivial at first glance. Tintin is a masterpiece. Not only of comics, but of art in general, and of an artist giving his entire life and soul to his craft, while also uplifting other artists, giving them their first jobs in an industry that was still very much starting, and being pivotal in creating an entire scene that fully bloomed years later.

I really like Tintin series ... its much better on large format size in individual albums than this edition ... I don't know why they printed it so much small in integral albums it doesn't make any sense to me... There's to much panels in there to printed it in small size by the page ... I really love my HC Egmont A4 size edition to the bone, my friend :) We grow up in Europe reading this stories :) its so popular that the passport of Belgia is with Tintin theme and there soccer team is gonna wear dress with his motives on European championship this year :)
