Hey, I've done this thousand times with a real katana. It can still cut an opponent, despite how much people think that it was useless in combat or duel. In fact, this technique can still do damage in close combat range. Only true swordsmen will understand. It's still good, NGL.

I mean...my only complaint is the distinct lack of straight bladed swords to pull this off with lol. Zatoichi is known for doing this with a straight bladed shikomizue...of which there is a very noticeable lack of such types of training or fake swords. It may just be my inexperienced opinion but I think that a curved sword kinda lends itself to this a little better than a straight blade so I find that Zatoichi pulling this off with a cane sword is a bit more impressive than if he was using an actual standard looking katana, it also lends to the surprise factor when he does it so fast and smooth with something his opponents are not expecting.

not bad ..... but I do it faster with a real Nhonto katana .... it's faster if your saya opening is at your waist when you draw against your hip.
Also ...using your core and hip to draw with your hand against your waist.
Actually ... I can use this technique in real battle to disarm anyone.
Even if they draw a gun.
So who says you can't use this effectively in real battle... they just aren't training enough and have poor skills.
I can do Kenshin high heaven technique cutting hakama in my sleep.
It all comes down to discipline of training and belief in yourself.
keep the dream alive carrying the torch for others.
