I'm not surprised you focused completely on the one part of the film with any kind of narrative structure. Films from then, as now, usually have one. 2001 is really about something else entirely, but the overall theme is too enigmatic to explain in a trailer.
This is a solid edit. The “pull quotes” are a tad quick.. maybe leave them up for 20-40 more frames... otherwise well cut. Gives a good overall vibe of the plot & film without much spoiler info, saves plenty for the viewer & builds a nice tension.
I love 2001 a space odyssey, it's a masterpiece of cinema. To be fair I find it a bit slow, but it's an atmospheric slow, it drags you in a kind of anxiety slowly but steadily. And what I find amazing about your work is how you can make it look like an action movie 🤣🤣 it's great I love it, like you manage to make one of the slowest movie of all time into a normal action movie it's just great 🤣🤣😍😍😍
I actually think that’s the point. I don’t think that the purpose of modernising these trailers is to try and repackage the movies themselves as being more up-to-date. I personally think the purpose is to potentially expose these movies to younger audiences who may have otherwise been deterred by the outdated (and slightly cheesy, let’s be honest) style and structure of many pre-21st Century trailers.
I liked some parts of it and it had potential in it but overall the game was a far cry from the original trilogy. The story and the characters felt quite weak sadly.
I know some people are going to murder me for saying this...but I actually fell asleep when I first watched the movie! I was really tired though so that's probably why.
I think most people would find it boring if they could attend the first cell division in the history of life. But that would not be the fault of the cell. I saw the movie 2001 for the first time in 1968. It was a time that felt like a black and white film. A part of the audience felt the film as a colorful hammer that came directly from the future, slammed against their heads and aroused something in it. Thus it became a worldwide battle cry for a whole generation of later inventors, scientists and engineers. Even then the rest of the audience found the film quite boring. Looking at the cinematic narrative in itself, 2001 is one of the most important pillars of the present world. This most influential science fiction film remains one of the greatest works of art of all time.
You have to pay a lot of attention to the non-verbal details of the film. Then you will watch it tens of times and not get bored. Reading the book helps immensely too.
Although this is a great trailer, it obviously is completly misleading what this movie is about. This Trailer makes you think this is some sort of Space Horror Movie... Its a perfect example of how today Hollywood can make everything into an action trailer. Its also sad because if this movie was made today it would probably be exactly that. An Action SciFi Horror Movie... Makes me wonder how many great movies had been dumbed down in the past years because most people dont like to use their brain anymore when they watch a movie..

People always / only focus on Hal. That's only a 20 minute scene...
yes, I also think about that. this movie is more than A.I. vs. Mankind. yet trailers usually miss those points. but overall a nice trailer.
