This seasons been laggy so it impacts stats for the season a bit; as a vet fps player it’s not all about KD, multiple masters and my kd is 1.4 (I play only ranked to keep the muscle memory of comp) my average damage per game is 547 which isn’t high either but it tells me per game we’re winning the first gun fight with a down and contributing to the wins of fights (100 damage per purple shielded enemy +100 HP = 547 divided by 3 is two knocks and a crack in the first fight or good play over two or three fights). Now we all have good days and bad days so that’s our average, but if we x that by 3 (two other teammates) than we’re having a good ranked day, if we all average a kill on the team and we’re rotating we’re winning RP. So in my case (and on most competitive scenes) having a 1 KD is a huge accomplishment; feeling comfortable everyone’s winning the first gun fight and contributing to the next (opening angles or opportunities) makes a good experience along with chill people. From my perspective of what a 1 KD can mean what you should take away from this is don’t sweat your KD, it all changes on what you play and how you play. Overall have fun with the game and know what your KD means to you if it means anything at all. Take it easy Legend’s.
I think a lot of the toxicity in apex stems from how dismissive players are towards each other. For instance: achieve diamond, or master, and most will still find a way to call you trash. Have a 4K and a 20bomb? Those are JUST badges. Have 30,000 eliminations on horizon? Get good, those are rookie numbers, that character is playing the game on easy mode. Have a high K/D? You're a roller player, touch grass. "AiM aSsIsT iS oVeR pOwErEd" The list goes on. The point is that: no matter what you strive for; the community has some lame Gen Z response. The game and it's mechanics are great. The community of people that play it aren't.
Very true! It seems unless your a predator, your considered to be average. Which seems misleading, you can be good, great, etc… To many people look at streamers as the benchmark, which is unrealistic for 90% of the people playing this. Streamers is there job to play and they have an insane amount of hours, which most people just can’t match. So saying your average or bad with a K/D of more then 1.0 seems more like imposter syndrome. I do hate how we care so much about, this game!
I started Apex around a year and a half ago, never having played an fps BR, especially since I didn't really play fps at all in general if I had a choice. So my kdr was mostly around .4 But recently, for the past two seasons, I got some confidence as well as a better understanding and started to get positive kdr for my seasons overall, which boosted my kdr to .65 It does give a boost of confidence when you see the kdr getting higher as time goes by and play this game more.
That's pretty insightful stuff regarding the psychology of fretting over KD, and I 100% do it. Mine's really low, but recently, I have been thinking, "Why worry? I'm just this bad. F it and play."

Returned to the game from a looong break of gaming in general and my kd rose from 0.7 to 1.3 in 2 months. So in that regard im kinda proud of my kd but yeah overall it's a useless stat. If you take every fight u can and improve overtime thats what matters
Same. My KD in most seasons used to be 0.7 at most but this Season, due to my current spike in understanding, I was briefly able to get a 2.0 for a couple days

Well it’s all math.. your KD also changes depending on how many overall games you’ve played and how many kills and deaths you averaged in each game overall.. so literally it could just be because you have a different overall number of apex games.
