It's not too late for cold weather, remember 2018, the beast from the east started February 25th and lasted until March 5th .. with - 8C to - 15 c with lots of snow and ice...

I agree it's not too late. Just requires more of a cold source origin for an extreme influence than earlier in the year, and these charts aren't showing a extreme cold source.

I doubt that it will be very severe and even if so it’ll be short lived because the Atlantic is still fairly powerful. Easterly winds really are rare these days and they hardly ever bring prolonged cold spells.
2018 was an exception and I doubt it will recur so soon afterwards.

In the summer it normally gets Hotter/Warmer
And in winter it gets colder
