Mendicant Bias was a Forerunner AI that betrayed the Forerunners and joined the Flood during the Forerunner-Flood war. He had fragments that survived and tried to redeem himself by helping the Humans throughout the Halo Lore in the background.

So, presumably, that fragment is still on The Ark. Halo Lore fans like myself have been huffing copium for 14 years hoping he'll be directly relevant again. XD

The spartan is Jerome-092, he was in the same class as chief and was also pegged as being on par with the chief in terms of leadership ability, but he washed out and his augments didn't take on (All of his fireteam had this happen) Later on they all got offered a chance to go again and the Augments held. Jerome also outranks chief as acting spartan Commander, but his last offical rank before being deemed MIA was Senior chief petty officer. Also Yapp Yapp has in multiplayer hero ability that stops all fighting and he is by far the most funny DLC leader for multiplayer.
Not quite master chef was a Spartan 1 while jerome and his squad are Spartan 2 and there armour is quite outdated however that doesn’t diminish the feat that atriox took on 3 Spartan 2s
Halo Canon made a Halo Infinite "Primer" which covers everything that's happened between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite. Minus all the stuff you already know about Halo Wars 2, there is SO much interesting stuff in that video that I was completely unaware of. It'll definitely be worth the watch. It does however cover alot of stuff from multiple different books so if you're planning on reading the books yourself and don't want spoilers then you can avoid it.
Bro, watch Halo Canon’s video detailing Shadows of Reach. It’s a book that takes place immediately before Halo Infinite and shows the return of the Banished to the Milky Way galaxy.
More about the banished in The Shadows of Reach. Good to check out before Infinite, it's also the introduction of Escherum. More about Mendicant Bias, Precursors and much more in the Forerunner saga trilogy, Cyptum, Primordium and Silentium. And the Halo 3 terminals. Mendicant Bias even had his sneaky first appearance in Halo 2, but not called by name. Most of us didn't understand this until many years later.
Actually, I guess at the end of the book that came out last year, Atriox and some of his lieutenants (we don't know who exactly) left the Ark via a portal on Reach and are now in our galaxy. So they actually could show up in Infinite.

hidden experia has some good videos on pre cursors and the forerunner flood war as the pre cursors are what created the flood and i would reccomend his video on the history of Zeta halo as that is what is about the forerunner flood war and the creation of the ring as it was used in a battle between mendicant bias the primordial and his flood army against the foreunners so it touches on all you want to know and its also important as zeta halo is place halo infinite is set so it explains why its abandoned randomly in space and it also gives some context on the ancient humans who where tested there and why we are reclaimers all in that video it really is important for understanding the importance of zeta halo before halo infinites release

Hey man, just wanted to say it’s always a pleasure watching somebody experience the world of Halo for the first time and I’ve loved reliving my childhood as you’ve played through the campaigns and consumed all this awesome halo content. It’s been a wonderful ride and I’m glad you’re here to experience it with us.
Spartan 092 is named Jerome. He, along with the other spartans in Halo Wars are members of Red Team. Jerome, Douglas, and Alice, are spartan 2's along with Master Chief and his team mates in Blue Team. It would be really interesting if Red and Blue team reunite in Infinite, as Red team was in cryo for those 28 years. Master Chief (John) and Jerome probably knew each other in their initial trainings, but now Jerome would be significantly younger, biologically, than John. Super crazy to think about I do also know that Jerome was one of the children who failed augmentation initially, but he was able to be successfully augmented at a different time.

Cool thing abourt Halo Wars 2 multiplayer is that you can play as like 14 different commanders that have special units for their commander. Colony uses alot of hunters obviously, yap yap the destroyer is a grunt commander and you use the Goblin Grunts (Grunt Mech suits) like in Halo 5 multiplayer. Others for humans too

So I'll answer some of your questions mate. 1. Spartan hunter? He is a silent shadow... a assassin group that specialised in the human covenant war in hunting down specific Spartans and killing them. Fun fact, remember Kat in halo reach? Yep, she was assassinated by a silent shadow. 2. Hidden Xperia knows a lot about the lore... that's a understatement. He is the living access point to the domain. 3. Mendicant bias... he was a forerunner AI that had a conversation with the primordial and was infected by the logic plague and began a devastating attack on the forerunners on the floods side. During the last battles, a new AI was created called offensive bias who disabled mendicant, he was then captured and split into fragments. Over time as a kind off... repentance? He has saught forgiveness and slowey has been helping humanity and chief. 4. The primordial... he is a precursor, a alien species that created all life in the galaxy. Long story VERY short, forerunners turned on their makers, killed them off, they turned to dust to reform later, dust got corrupted and became THE FLOOD. Precursor was found and talked to by ancient humanity... the scientists who questions it killed themselves as it was too gruesome. Flood was made, flood did what flood did. 5. Letgolo or hunters ALWAYS come in pairs as BOTH are 1 single colony of letgolo split in two. Letgolo worms... so you know scarabs? Yeah, they are driven by those worms... like muscles. Why do you think orange blood squirts out when a scarab is destroyed.
FYI: the guardian thay came out of the sand from the first trailer of halo 5, (the one that doesn't fit in with halo 5's story) was mendicant bias. Or a part of him.
Firstly, spoilers for the forerunner saga of books. Ok so you know the Forerunners and how they're this ancient technologically superior alien race, The Precursors were a stage above them, they were pacifists and the ones to initially seed the galaxy with life. Their tech was all created via neural physics, so thoughts rather than material compounds, hence why you won't find any artifacts in any games or anything. They had this role called "the mantle of responsibility", essentially being the race responsible for seeding and developing life. The Precursors initially picked the forerunners, the most promising of their creations to take up the mantle after the precursors were gone but later were deemed unworthy of the Mantle and instead the role was given to the Humans of Old. This Enraged the Forerunners, who promptly declared war and systematically exterminated the precursors, leading to their near extinction. The remaining precursors went into a suspended animation by turning themselves into a molecular space dust that will regenerate into their former selves at some point in the future. Over the millions of years, the dust degraded and became defective, no longer regenerating themselves, rather inducing mutations and madness to anyone who came into contact with it. After ancient Humans discovered the dust and experimented with it, it eventually led to the first Flood outbreak. The Primordial was one of the precursors who just used a stasis chamber to hibernate instead of being fancy and turning yourself into a powder. He was later found by some humans and proceeded to explain the flood's origins. He viewed the flood as a means to bring unity to the galaxy, vowing that none of their creations will rise against them again and that stripping all life of free will and merged into a single race would bring peace and unity to the galaxy. His body was destroyed but he transferred his consciousness into flood hive mind, Who now calls itself the Gravemind.
You can watch a really cool story short by Halo called Headhunters, it features to spec operatives, and the silent shadow themselves, it's really cool to see. The sparten hunter from Infinite is one of their rank.
Also on the topic of the Grunt Boss don’t let his façade fool you, his species can reproduce almost as fast as the flood can kill everything in a 1000 Kilometer radius.
Mate, you HAVE to read the forum we trilogy written by Greg Bear! It full of loads of interesting lore about the forerunners and the precursors! It tells the tale of the downfall of the forerunners and of their greatest sin. Mendicant bias is present as well as the didact from Halo 4! It’s one of the most interesting sifi series I’ve read and will give SOOOOO much context about Zeta Halo, the Forerunners, the Precursors, Mendacant bias, the ark, the original halo array, the flood, and ancient humanity! I highly recommend!
Jfyi theres been a lot of extra banished lore since. We now know what Atriox was involved with before his clan was used as a suicide force, he worked with covenant spec ops forces. The Banished also united many of the brute tribes into one force and atriox managed to get back to the galaxy. Theres also a force known as the hand of Atiox which are basically Banished spartan headhunters

I'll copy a quick recap of the forerunner period I made ages ago, with a few new bits added, if anybody cares for a bit of a read. You had 4 important species. Forerunners, Precursors, Humans and to a lesser extent San'shyuum (Prophets). (1.The mantle) The precursors where the most advanced race in the galaxy (From the technology tier list, They where tier 0, the Forerunners, Humanity & San'shyuum where tier 1. In the games the covenant where mid tier 2, humanity started the games tier 3, and are currently back up to around mid/late tier 2. In real life we would be early tier 4), and took it upon themselves to tend to the galaxy and species in it (the mantle of responsibility), the forerunners looked up to them, and wanted to inherit that mantle and the power it gave, but the Precursors had decided that Humanity would inherit it instead. (2.Forerunner/Precursor war) The Forerunners didn't accept that, and decided to take it by force. They brutally defeated the Precursors, despite being less advanced, with the few that remained fleeing to the edge of the galaxy. The last remaining Precursors turned their dna into a powder that could take over a host, so they could one day return, repopulate and exact revenge, but over the years the powder became corrupted in their hate for the Forerunners. (3.the flood) Centuries later, Humanity, now one of the three most powerful species in the galaxy (with the other two being their close allies San'shyuum and the Forerunners) came across one of the ships, and discovered that the power could be given to animals, where it would alter their DNA and help domesticate them. Unfortunately before long, those creatures, infected with the precursor DNA, became violent, and started attacking people, who themselves became infected. This became known as the flood. (4.Human/Forerunner war) as planet after planet fell, Humanity eventually came to the conclusion that the only way to stop the flood was to create a no man's land of dead planets to starve them, and so started a campaign of annihilating all life on a strip of planets in the galaxy. Unfortunately, unknown to them, some of these planets belonged to the Forerunners, who didn't know about the food and saw it as a declaration of war. Humanity and the San'shyuum where now fighting on two fronts, with the flood on one side, and the forerunners on another. As humanity and it's ally lost ground, they fell back to their most powerful world. An old precursor planet they shared with the San'shyuum, with near impenetrable defences. Unfortunately the San'shyuum betrayed them to the Forerunners in exchange for not being genetically receded, letting them through the defences and destroying the last of humanities power. (5.Humanities de-evolution) as punishment, the Forerunners genetically rewound humanities DNA and technology to an almost prehistoric level. However in the final years of the war, they discovered the flood threat for themselves. They noticed that by the end, the flood has stopped targeting human planets, instead focusing on forerunner ones. They assumed humanity had developed a weapon or cure to defeat or even control the flood, when in reality it was because the burning hate of the precursors towards the forerunners, grown over centuries of isolation into a madness, guided them towards their ancient enemy. Because of this, the forerunners locked the memories of the old humans scientists and commanders into humanities very DNA, so they could be studied and interrogated to try and find this none existent weapon. (6.Forerunner/flood war) The Forerunners never got the weapon they needed, and where pushed back relentlessly. They developed a powerful AI to coordinate their forces (Mendicant Bias). Unfortunately the flood where controlled by a being called the Gravemind. As they consumed living matter, they also took it's memories, growing extremely intelligent. It used this intelligence to corrupt Mendicant, threatening to turn forerunners own technology against them. In response, they created another AI (Offensive Bias), but this time with the sole purpose of destroying Mendicant, then deleting it's self (sound familiar?). They then resorted to their final tactic. (7. Halo) The Didact wanted to create shield worlds (eg. Requiem) where he could continue the fight, with his promethians, which where advanced constructs powered by the minds of his greatest enemy, Humanity. The Librarium however detested that plan, and came up with a different plan, which was ultimately decided upon (and the didact imprisoned for going ahead with his plan anyway). The halo array, to wipe out the floods food source. Paired with the arks, which would contain DNA from every species in the galaxy, and the technology to reseed them, controlled by the Monitors, who contained advanced AI, which where essentially created from the consciousness of a living being (at least one, 343 guilty spark, was created from the consciousness of a human called Chakas). They also agreed that the Forerunners would pay for their mistakes by not saving their own species (with an exception or two), and finally passing the mantle to humanity, and the keys to all their technology, locked with two halves of a key known as the "Janus key", which was seen in halo 4 Spartan ops, given to Halsey by the Librarian, but is currently being hidden by a Forerunner AI. So that's the very loose outline of the pre halo time period. Obviously there's a lot of details missing, and stuff to expand on, but I believe that covers the major event points. If I missed anything important let me know and I'll add it. I'm happy to answer any questions if I know the answer.
You wanna be ready for infinite? Play all the games before in order starting with Reach and Halo Wars, and ending with Halo Wars 2 and halo 5, then look up all the launch trailers, the short Fan made videos, the ODST Live action projects, and the movies and series Forward Unto Dawn. Everyone who has survived is gonna play a part.

brilliant vid BTW I'd say this vid from hidden experia is a bit outdated I'd suggest halo canon's vid everything between halo5 - halo infinite it shows cortanas rule lore from the books and lead up to infinite like we know the banished leave for reach the vid explains watch up to 10 minute mark then skip to 15 minute mark in that time he explains halo wars 2 which you know but everything else is new info for you it's a 23 minute video but you can skip 5 minutes because it's a recap of hw2 but yeah just a suggestion and thanks for the brilliant videos you make have loved every second

The pre-halo precursor/forerunner era of stories is an absolute rabbit hole that you will not escape from for weeks. I highly recommend it

3. Mendicant bias... he was a forerunner AI that had a conversation with the primordial and was infected by the logic plague and began a devastating attack on the forerunners on the floods side.
During the last battles, a new AI was created called offensive bias who disabled mendicant, he was then captured and split into fragments.
Over time as a kind off... repentance? He has saught forgiveness and slowey has been helping humanity and chief.
4. The primordial... he is a precursor, a alien species that created all life in the galaxy.
Long story VERY short, forerunners turned on their makers, killed them off, they turned to dust to reform later, dust got corrupted and became THE FLOOD.
Precursor was found and talked to by ancient humanity... the scientists who questions it killed themselves as it was too gruesome.
Flood was made, flood did what flood did.
5. Letgolo or hunters ALWAYS come in pairs as BOTH are 1 single colony of letgolo split in two.
Letgolo worms... so you know scarabs? Yeah, they are driven by those worms... like muscles.

If you haven’t watched the trailer for Halo Wars 2 you really should. Just because it’s really a fun one to see. The music and video are perfect.
FYI: the guardian thay came out of the sand from the first trailer of halo 5, (the one that doesn't fit in with halo 5's story) was mendicant bias. Or a part of him.
Firstly, spoilers for the forerunner saga of books.
Ok so you know the Forerunners and how they're this ancient technologically superior alien race, The Precursors were a stage above them, they were pacifists and the ones to initially seed the galaxy with life. Their tech was all created via neural physics, so thoughts rather than material compounds, hence why you won't find any artifacts in any games or anything.
They had this role called "the mantle of responsibility", essentially being the race responsible for seeding and developing life. The Precursors initially picked the forerunners, the most promising of their creations to take up the mantle after the precursors were gone but later were deemed unworthy of the Mantle and instead the role was given to the Humans of Old. This Enraged the Forerunners, who promptly declared war and systematically exterminated the precursors, leading to their near extinction.
The remaining precursors went into a suspended animation by turning themselves into a molecular space dust that will regenerate into their former selves at some point in the future. Over the millions of years, the dust degraded and became defective, no longer regenerating themselves, rather inducing mutations and madness to anyone who came into contact with it. After ancient Humans discovered the dust and experimented with it, it eventually led to the first Flood outbreak.
The Primordial was one of the precursors who just used a stasis chamber to hibernate instead of being fancy and turning yourself into a powder. He was later found by some humans and proceeded to explain the flood's origins. He viewed the flood as a means to bring unity to the galaxy, vowing that none of their creations will rise against them again and that stripping all life of free will and merged into a single race would bring peace and unity to the galaxy. His body was destroyed but he transferred his consciousness into flood hive mind, Who now calls itself the Gravemind.

Also on the topic of the Grunt Boss don’t let his façade fool you, his species can reproduce almost as fast as the flood can kill everything in a 1000 Kilometer radius.
Mate, you HAVE to read the forum we trilogy written by Greg Bear! It full of loads of interesting lore about the forerunners and the precursors! It tells the tale of the downfall of the forerunners and of their greatest sin. Mendicant bias is present as well as the didact from Halo 4! It’s one of the most interesting sifi series I’ve read and will give SOOOOO much context about Zeta Halo, the Forerunners, the Precursors, Mendacant bias, the ark, the original halo array, the flood, and ancient humanity! I highly recommend!

Fun note, the brutes were never unintelligent, but lore wise, someone noted their advancements eventually lead to a self destructive end at one point.

Jfyi theres been a lot of extra banished lore since. We now know what Atriox was involved with before his clan was used as a suicide force, he worked with covenant spec ops forces. The Banished also united many of the brute tribes into one force and atriox managed to get back to the galaxy. Theres also a force known as the hand of Atiox which are basically Banished spartan headhunters

I'll copy a quick recap of the forerunner period I made ages ago, with a few new bits added, if anybody cares for a bit of a read.
You had 4 important species. Forerunners, Precursors, Humans and to a lesser extent San'shyuum (Prophets).
(1.The mantle) The precursors where the most advanced race in the galaxy (From the technology tier list, They where tier 0, the Forerunners, Humanity & San'shyuum where tier 1. In the games the covenant where mid tier 2, humanity started the games tier 3, and are currently back up to around mid/late tier 2. In real life we would be early tier 4), and took it upon themselves to tend to the galaxy and species in it (the mantle of responsibility), the forerunners looked up to them, and wanted to inherit that mantle and the power it gave, but the Precursors had decided that Humanity would inherit it instead.
(2.Forerunner/Precursor war) The Forerunners didn't accept that, and decided to take it by force. They brutally defeated the Precursors, despite being less advanced, with the few that remained fleeing to the edge of the galaxy. The last remaining Precursors turned their dna into a powder that could take over a host, so they could one day return, repopulate and exact revenge, but over the years the powder became corrupted in their hate for the Forerunners.
(3.the flood) Centuries later, Humanity, now one of the three most powerful species in the galaxy (with the other two being their close allies San'shyuum and the Forerunners) came across one of the ships, and discovered that the power could be given to animals, where it would alter their DNA and help domesticate them. Unfortunately before long, those creatures, infected with the precursor DNA, became violent, and started attacking people, who themselves became infected. This became known as the flood.
(4.Human/Forerunner war) as planet after planet fell, Humanity eventually came to the conclusion that the only way to stop the flood was to create a no man's land of dead planets to starve them, and so started a campaign of annihilating all life on a strip of planets in the galaxy. Unfortunately, unknown to them, some of these planets belonged to the Forerunners, who didn't know about the food and saw it as a declaration of war. Humanity and the San'shyuum where now fighting on two fronts, with the flood on one side, and the forerunners on another. As humanity and it's ally lost ground, they fell back to their most powerful world. An old precursor planet they shared with the San'shyuum, with near impenetrable defences. Unfortunately the San'shyuum betrayed them to the Forerunners in exchange for not being genetically receded, letting them through the defences and destroying the last of humanities power.
(5.Humanities de-evolution) as punishment, the Forerunners genetically rewound humanities DNA and technology to an almost prehistoric level. However in the final years of the war, they discovered the flood threat for themselves. They noticed that by the end, the flood has stopped targeting human planets, instead focusing on forerunner ones. They assumed humanity had developed a weapon or cure to defeat or even control the flood, when in reality it was because the burning hate of the precursors towards the forerunners, grown over centuries of isolation into a madness, guided them towards their ancient enemy. Because of this, the forerunners locked the memories of the old humans scientists and commanders into humanities very DNA, so they could be studied and interrogated to try and find this none existent weapon.
(6.Forerunner/flood war) The Forerunners never got the weapon they needed, and where pushed back relentlessly. They developed a powerful AI to coordinate their forces (Mendicant Bias). Unfortunately the flood where controlled by a being called the Gravemind. As they consumed living matter, they also took it's memories, growing extremely intelligent. It used this intelligence to corrupt Mendicant, threatening to turn forerunners own technology against them. In response, they created another AI (Offensive Bias), but this time with the sole purpose of destroying Mendicant, then deleting it's self (sound familiar?). They then resorted to their final tactic.
(7. Halo) The Didact wanted to create shield worlds (eg. Requiem) where he could continue the fight, with his promethians, which where advanced constructs powered by the minds of his greatest enemy, Humanity. The Librarium however detested that plan, and came up with a different plan, which was ultimately decided upon (and the didact imprisoned for going ahead with his plan anyway). The halo array, to wipe out the floods food source. Paired with the arks, which would contain DNA from every species in the galaxy, and the technology to reseed them, controlled by the Monitors, who contained advanced AI, which where essentially created from the consciousness of a living being (at least one, 343 guilty spark, was created from the consciousness of a human called Chakas). They also agreed that the Forerunners would pay for their mistakes by not saving their own species (with an exception or two), and finally passing the mantle to humanity, and the keys to all their technology, locked with two halves of a key known as the "Janus key", which was seen in halo 4 Spartan ops, given to Halsey by the Librarian, but is currently being hidden by a Forerunner AI.
So that's the very loose outline of the pre halo time period. Obviously there's a lot of details missing, and stuff to expand on, but I believe that covers the major event points. If I missed anything important let me know and I'll add it. I'm happy to answer any questions if I know the answer.

Play all the games before in order starting with Reach and Halo Wars, and ending with Halo Wars 2 and halo 5, then look up all the launch trailers, the short Fan made videos, the ODST Live action projects, and the movies and series Forward Unto Dawn. Everyone who has survived is gonna play a part.
You should watch the Halo CE:A, 2:A and 4 terminals, especially 4 has a decent amount of Forerunner lore expansion.
