On my VW Tiguan the heated steering wheel button is on the steering wheel - button furthest to the right. Press once to turn on to position three then press again to reduce the heat setting to two, one then off.
Happy New Year Simon. Great video. The removable plastic piece at the back of the car is actually a retainer piece for using on the carpet floor board. Same as those found in SKODAs. Great for keeping stuffs in the load bay from rolling about. Eg grocery.
Has anyone else noticed ID Buzz doesn’t appear to have seat belts. None visible when filming driving down the road. Is this a latest cost saving feature ? So you have to pay extra for them.
I love the ID BUZZ. In my '77 T2 campervan the "Heat your hands" option was the wife telling me to put my gloves back on and that was in August in Northumberland! 🤣🤣🤣
Happy New Year Simon and team! Your video coincided nicely with New Year's Day here in Japan. A good start to the year! The ID Buzz has some very well thought out functionality and looks quite good for what is essentially a van. There are a few things that could have been thought out a bit better of course. The rear seats not having the option to tumble forward when the false floor is removed being the most obvious perhaps. I also immediately thought of the main rear false floor being used as an outdoor camping table, so it is a pity that VW didn't think to provide leg extensions in their accessories lineup along with an elasticated easy-wipe surface (tablecloth to all intents and purposes) to put on the top. Still, what VW have created though is a vehicle that lets the imagination run riot with ideas and that is in itself a major achievement.
Well I had not thought of you getting one but see it will be a good money earner as there are plenty of modifications you can design for it. Also VW/Audi group have had major software problems this year and the Boss in charge of that side has “left” just before Christmas. You are an electronics guru so it will be interesting to see you sort any problems!! I am amazed that ordering a two tone paint colour adds 8 months to the build…if it was that difficult then why offer it?? Simon…an interesting start to the New Year…Good Work again….😀😀😀😀Richard.
Happy new year Richard - yes these could be an interesting market - we will make some parts for these and see where this leads us. With no real full EV from Land Rover we have had to branch out .. EV is the future.... for now at least. Land Rover need to hurry up and bring out a full EV vehicle soon ( Jag have the I-Pace )
@@L663 I think buying the Buzz is a very good move as you have quickly identified a lot of design that needs a rethink. It is not a car for me but I was “there” when the original VW Microbus started to appear in the U.K. when my Dad’s friend Billy bought a new one in 1954 (THT 186) and although I was only very young at the time, I recall the reactions of people who saw it…a “space ship” was a frequent reaction! As for JLR…to be honest, they are worrying me as their ranges are getting old and out of touch. Evoque from 2011, D/Sport 2014, the unloved Discovery 5 that sold very few last ŷear, the RR Sport has just been revamped but does it look too similar to the old one and the new Range Rover is good but over priced. Then the Velar…what role does it have? Only the Defender inspires and sells now. It needs an all electric Jimny and fast. Jaguar…I have read that it is doomed to collapse with tired old cars that don’t sell now….the iPace is largely forgotten. Will I replace my D/Sport with something else?….Porsche is a real prospect but we have to rethink all the cars as Hilary needs a self parking automatic now after C19 problems since Feb 21. So…I’m confused and doing nothing yet! So…WAKE UP JLR…you are too far behind the times and China is coming to bite you!! 😱😱🫢😀😀😀
Does it have a V2L think like some Kia and Hyundai, that would be great for the camping/day van user and maybe even trades in anyone is brave/rich enough to use one as a work van.
Great review (was keen to understand more about these) and can see how this will appeal to some, but for this Gen 1, I’m just not feeling the buzz myself.
Great review, I’m planning to get one but never buy when the vehicle is just launched as there are always teething issues. Didn’t realise there is a 18 month waiting list though so I will get my order in sooner rather than later. Looking forward to further reviews Its looks like there is plenty of opportunity for accessory parts like the bumper protector and the table conversion.
@@L663 Thanks for replying Simon. When you get yours it will be really interesting to compare the cost of a colour wrap with the cost of the VW two tone paint option!
Looks really useful. I could get my mobility scooter in there no problem. Looking for a higher car for getting out and in. A lot of the SUV’s like the Kuga don’t have a lot of what I would need.
I live in Cornwall which is VW Van country and I’m half tempted to buy one as a rental. I bet these will have crows round them down here when they are about. Probably split the VW community as usually there people who hate change, but I think this is a great fun MPV/Van.
The trick bolt aren't unfortunately trick bolt just covers I'm afraid. Do like the look of these and I'm not a massive VW fan. Can't understand why VW use antiquated technology with regards to the brakes, other manufacturers of EV cars/ vehicles have made them able to use Disc Brakes all round but VW don't. 🤷🤷🤦🤦
Brakes are actually a big problem for EV's as the regen braking is so good you rarely use the brakes and they seize up ! apparently this is one of the major things on a Tesla service ! I was wondering of drum brakes are less prone to seizing - they are more protected from the elements.. but i would rather have disc brakes to stop a 2 tonne car !
We got to do something - we cannot keep using fossil fuels and the combustion engine is not that efficient - most of the energy is wasted as heat ! Electricity is also easy to transport... the problem is batteries ! Driving an electric car is growing on me.

Electric vehicles are not the way to go, most are charged with power made from fossil fuels and the energy to make and maintain one is far greater than a petrol or diesel car. They take to long to charge and there isn't any where enough charging stations around. I'll stick with my 8 year old 4x4.
You highlight some good points. Alas it is the government that needs to get some serious green power into the grid - tidal is my favourite - we have one of the biggest tidal flows in the world and we do not use it !

Didn't take you long to begin the dismantling process. 🤣Happy New Year Simon & the team.
Yes I think I probably reached the limit of what you can dismantle in a test drive without upsetting the dealer !
Can you fit a 180cm ski bag as a through load without having to tip the seats forward?

The charging point by the rear view mirror is a good idea for powering a dash camera. Maybe you could come up with a simple mod for the Defender?
We have the tap in loom for the overhead console on the Defender....

The low floor flat foor and the high roof would make this idea for people with mobility needs !
Typical German motor, charge extra for a flat boot floor that’s standard in any other make then, market it as a place to store the parcel shelf.
