- After spending the holidays with my family in central California it was time to head back into nature. My brother had a long drive back to Austin, Texas and I agreed to go part-way with him. The two of us enjoyed a cozy stay in a Joshua Tree: hiking, playing monopoly, and just enjoying each other's company before we were both on our own again.

Speaking from experience, the time we spend with family is so precious. You just never know how long you will have them or the opportunity to enjoy their company and make memories, Joshua Tree is beautiful and when in bloom it is breathtaking. That soup looked so yummy!

I too am from where you are staying in the desert. Please be careful, flash floods are happening right now, park on high ground away from any gully or mountain or hill runoff. It can happen in minutes, the water will rush. i truly enjoy your videos so much.

It is weird to know a person through youtube vlog. Sometimes i feel i intrude on her privacy, especially when she washes herself, or do something too intimate.

Note on miso soup: the boiling water kills the probiotics in the miso so I always add the paste after I turn off the heat. Get that good good gut boost! Your hometown looks absolutely beautiful ❤️

I live in north Carolina
But I used to lived in exeter and farmersville on a clear day I can see the mountains sequoia national park the snow on top. I climb the morro rock that was scary. Behind exeter is rocky hill and bager hill. I do miss Cali

Desert landscapes in wintertime are always so beautiful, and a little odd. When the oppressive heat recedes, it makes everything look different and fresh. What a cute little Airbnb! Hope you enjoyed your Christmas break and the beginning of your next adventure. Idk about you, but I always find the contrast between all the peopling over Christmas and the quiet solitude that follows a little jarring at first.

Saute whatever veggies/ protein you'd like :) I often use carrots, squash, mushrooms, kale, and tofu
Add miso paste to hot water
Add whatever additional spices you'd like: I often use garlic and red pepper flakes
Mix and Serve hot!

After 5 years in the wilderness of New Mexico my wife and I went home to our house in Florida to spend the holidays with our adult kids. We just finished our 5 night stay in an Airbnb in twentynine palms. The morning of the 24th was the only bad rain we had, it was very peaceful out in the dessert.
We were also in our own air bnb during that storm! It was SO wild!!!! Glad you and yours found peace in twentynine palms :)

Ever since finding you & watching you I've always felt like you reminded me of someone but just couldn't put my finger on it. The other day while listening to my music it finally hit me! You & Elise Trouw at the very least could be sisters. The only difference in my opinion are your noses. Does anyone else see this? Also interestingly enough is that your both in (southern) California & probably not to far from each other. As always I loved the video. I smile EVERY TIME when there are shots of Eliza's very expressive eyes.

I feel your comment about being sad after spending time with loved ones and then saying goodbye. Going through that right now. Also, don't boil the water for your miso. It kills all the good pre and probiotics in the miso.

I never liked driving in the dark either. Can't see animals that might run out in front of you plus the scenery doesn't look as good at night unless your driving through Vegas.
As a girl from the Netherlands I really don't get why the desert is the place you all gravitate towards.. But the prospect of beautiful flowers does make me curious if maybe I'll grow to like it as well🤗❤️

I worked for a native plant nursery! We grew plants for landscape restoration. Natural spaces often grow unhealthy overtime from human interaction, so we went in to try to heal those places.
We hear we not going anywhere:-)

At this point my focus is to continue growing better at storytelling and art, at making strong connections with new friends and old, and with exploring areas I haven't already. I don't have an end date, currently. :)
