Thank you for following. :)
Smoky is moving along nicely Mike keep up the good work.
Well done Mike. Great to see some primer. Looking good.
Well done Mike, What a difference.
Love those kenworths, brings back bj and the bear times watching with my dad. Love what your doing can’t wait to see them completed. Good morning from spring texas.
See that came 101 100. When you get done with it is gonna look great
Man those daylight doors look awful. I never liked the look of them or the redesigned Peterbilt ones that came out on the last 379’s
Hay buddy good luck tell your dad hello thanks
Mike saw your video on the bike in Ohio they had a house fire due to one of them bikes just saw it on the news thought I would made u aware so be watchful of them they do not get too hot charging
😳
You should upgrade the storage lights to led. Much brighter
Good point, I'll get some LED bulbs to keep the OEM look
A bench grinder with a wire wheel on does the job well
I was wondering, what if you put R12 insulation in the cab to help better insulate for the cold weather? I thought about doing that. What are your thoughts?
I don't think it will get used enough to warrant it.
It will also keep the heat out in the summer...and act as sound deadening
If somebody came within A mile of my paint and body work with A can of fish oil they would be walking funny for the next couple of weeks
Hey Mike love your channel but your doing things backwards you have to get the engine running before you fix up the outer parts
I figured the engine was the easy part LOL
Bit by bit Mike it’s coming together!
Hey Mike, please DON'T put daylight doors on Smokey.
I met you and your wife in Louisville this year and I am very impressed with the progress you have made on Smokey, can't wait to see it finished, you know it is never done. Keep up the good work. Mo
Ok one step at a time, just keep going.🙃
I'm glad you are working on Smokey Mike. I know it's been a really big project for you, but I have to be honest,
it's bothered me for awhile that it wasn't getting worked on, because The Day Cab Co really stepped up with the
sponsorship of the interior for the truck, and it's been sitting in boxes for a long time.
If I remember correctly, this was the first cabover interior that they did, so from a business aspect, they are probably
anxious to see the interior completed, and I'm assuming they probably want to use your finished interior for advertising.
I know when I had my race cars, there was always pressure to make sure that I held up my end of the sponsorship.
Okay sorry for the rambling. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.
That said,, I am really looking forward to when you are able to dive into the 359. I hope you are still planning on making
it a long logger... I've been around log trucks since I was born, and my grampa started teaching me to drive one of his
when I was about 9 years old. I started out driving in the mill yards and got to load the trailer and after I got used to that
I got to start driving in the woods. Empty and loaded 😎
Are you sure they are not PACCAR rivnuts? 😀😃😄😁
Lol, you are probably right
After all your fiberglass work it sucks to drill in it . But its gonna look good 😊
Great video Mike glad to see your Dad is making some progress on Stubby with those parts. Little by little Smokeys coming along nicely too. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Mike and Dad.
“Smokey” is beginning to look 👀 even better as time goes along Mike. Stick to it sir,…just like you done the Peterbilt before that you sold. Great projects, no doubt. Don’t put those daylight doors on “Smokey” though. Keep it as close to original as you can sir.
those doors look awesome on the K220
the Chinesium hardware is better 😁
didnt think you cleaned a windshield in BC ... you just replaced it ?
I like wing glass on doors bring in more air, door vents ,dash vents,r model macks had it right, kenworth dash fans helped too
If you are going to part out K2 why don’t you put the K2 cab extemders on Smokey so they are both KW.
Putting items back on keeps them from getting lost. Smokey is looking good.
Smokey is coming on great. Not a drop of JB Weld in sight as yet.
Not yet...
I am a lefty too.. They say us lefties are in our right minds lol😅!!
How u keeping the water from going in the back of the light?
Just my 2 cents Mike would be great if you found a t 600 to restore
Why not do your painting first before fitting those handles yes get it all ready for mounting but paint the cab first then it done and dusted you can fit the handles and other bits .sure other people will say the same as me to
All drilling and fitting should be done before painting, but I'm sure he will take the handles back off before he paints.
Gm Mike from west Alabama USA hugs
Good morning 🌞
@@mikethetrucknut how are u
Tired this morning, but good, can't wait to show the next update of Smokey with a visor and lights on it
@@mikethetrucknut ok
Great progress on Smokey!!
Mike , can you say fisheye?😊
Mike, I just noticed on this video that the area you sanded on the right door of your Kenworth sorta resembles the outline of the United States. LOL! Are you a fan?😁
YES! I'd love to move down south. Maybe a state with no income tax 🤔
Smoky is coming right along Mike!! Looking better all the time.
Just wait till next weeks Video...
@@mikethetrucknut can’t wait. Thank you
This may be to late but you should make sure you don't use any oils for drilling or door lubricant that have silicone in them it will be very hard to clean and will cause the paint to fish eye when you finally get to the paint stage
Thankfully I have not done that
💯
Is Smokey going to be your BJ and the Bear 🐻 rig?😊😊
I'm thinking similar 🤔 it's not the big sleeper but I want to do that paint scheme. I'm hoping to get Peterbilt Pacifics bodyshop to paint it bec they do amazing work. Kinda why I need to get it driving before paint 😉
Okay never mind, I didn't realize until u started notching the back of the light. Before I asked the question. LOL!!!
I had no experience in automotive painting when I did the bumper and fender on my car. I went to UA-cam videos and they all said use 2K paint. And boy what a difference. So much better look than the cheap stuff. I was on a budget but glade I paid the $20 a can. It's been 4 years since then and even the guy who installed glass for me said it looked good. No drips No runs No peeling. Nice n thick. Good finish.
I do not find WD-40 to be a very good lubricant and it is certainly not a long term lubricant. I'd suggest a light oil designed for lubrication and corrosion resistance for fishing reels or even firearms.
Why didn't you put nut serts in the visor?
I was going to but decided not to bec bolts and nuts would be stronger. That and the sealed riv nuts and like $5 a piece
@@mikethetrucknut good point
You can do the daylight door swap too coming alone great
Hope you get engine sorted on smokey Mike
It's coming along nice
🚛💯🙏👌
😎👍
Have u ever met twin sticks? i know hes in Canada too
Not in person but I've spoken. To him
Hello Mike, I am looking at a Mack RD and the truck frame as rust jacking in the double wall frame. I was watching your video and you mentioned but i have not seen how your took care of "K2". How are you going to get to rust jacking done for the truck may be subject to the DOT or DOL instructions or inspection?
I'm going to pull the frame insert out. It will be a real bugger on a full double frame.
@mikethetrucknut thank you for your response. I am planing on keeping the double wall frame, how would you remove the rust jacking from the frame? Thank you for your interest on 'K2' of bringing the truck back to life.
@kevinhays2000 if it's not that bad yet I've seen needle scalers used as well I've heard of people spraying in a lubricant and the hammering on the rail. But I think those are just temporary solutions.
Thank you for your response. As the next step is to pull the trigger and determine the amount of rust jacking and delivery the frame detached from the total truck. The frame will be total for the truck, as the frame will be able to be replaced/repaired on the schedule of the Mack. Thank you for your prompt response.
Hammer,he'll looks like you are using a club 😂😂😂😂😂
