I have zero wrestling background so I learn a lot around here. Kudos to Mr MW for taking the extra time and effort to provide context to the matches when helpful and for answering questions. Also thank you for the viewers who leave insightful and informed comments shared from their knowledge and experience in the sport.
As for shoes, it reminds me of my sport, basketball. Now I'm old and old school so anytime I see players on the court with no shoes I start to roll my eyes. I've been around basketball for decades, played it for awhile and I also wear shoes. The way we wore shoes in my day there wasn't anything that was going to pull them off! They were laced up and often double knotted. Now there were plenty of times shoes come untied but I don't recall ever seeing anyone literally walk right out of their shoe! LOL. It happens all the time in college basketball today. One thing I've learned, things always change. :)

Is coach mic up? Seen a match before one wrestler trying to escape jumping forwards and the other trying to pull him back in by 1 leg and shoes came off, could this be a potential for caution, or can a point be awarded, and who would get the point? What does the rule book say or it’s up to individual refs discretion?

No mic, I just happened to be positioned next to the coach. Fantastic question on the shoe situation, by the way. I've just sent an email to the rules interpreters to confirm the two different calls I would make depending upon how the shoe came off, and I'm waiting for them to confirm or correct me.

@@dwaynebowen3792 Any time a shoe comes off during the course of normal wrestling action (i.e. the opponent did not intentionally unlace it), it is penalized as stalling because the rules state that wrestling shoes must be tightly secured (and wrestling shoes shouldn't come off if tightly secured). Your follow-up question about the escape point is where I had to seek clarity, and I'm glad I did, because my answer would have been based only on the college interpretation. It turns out that the answer is different at the high school / junior high level. Last year, the NCAA Secretary-Rules Editor issued a rule interpretation stating that the language "no advantage can be gained by a wrestler due to an illegal action" means that the escape point cannot be awarded. On the other hand, the NFHS hasn't issued a similar rule interpretation for high school / junior high, and so the escape point is awarded.
