One of the absolute best singers in the world, love him! Glad to see Steve still looking good and healthy!
This interview is actually several years old. They used clips from his interview with Dan Rather. Look it up on UA-cam. I've watched it several times. Steve does still look amazing though. ❤
I like his honesty. You can see the lack of passion in some other long running bands. Bon Jovi is a prime example. Full of passion on stage up until around 15 years ago then just a scripted stage act. A break is sometimes a necessary thing.
One of, if not the absolute greatest rock singer of all time. I appreciate his honesty. I can't imagine the struggle of knowing it's time to walk away from the thing you love the most.
I have seen Journey several times and I will never forget it. The last time I saw them was in Orlando. I will never forget it because they sang faithfully and I Miss them so much 😢 💔 😔 😪

Actually, Your date is incorrect. It was May 8, 1998. Steve gave the date in two separate interviews in the early 2000s.

Q:: Is there any truth to the new rumor that you and the band are getting back together this summer when Journey is on the road ?
SP: No, there is NO truth to that rumor. As of MAY 8, 1998, I'm no longer legally a member of Journey. The band may be jamming this summer with "X" members, but I will not be one of them.

Q: So many bands are reuniting and touring. Do you ever see yourself reuniting with Journey and doing a tour?
SP: Since MAY 8, 1998, we have been officially and legally no longer together. I'm fairly convinced we've gone our separate ways. I also know that nothing will ever take away the magic times and the music we made...... while we were together!
❤ It was a sad day Steve Perry walked away from Journey and I miss him to this day. I believe Steve and Neil had an unbelievable sound together, whether it was with writing the words or musically. A team like no other. After all these years now, I wish the two would meet up one last time and put out an album. Throw a little Jonathan Cain in there and it would be magical.... It would be Journey come full circle. ❤

Back then a lot of the guys pretended to like Journey in order to get laid. I refused to compromise my musical integrity and waited until I found a girl who liked Led Zeppelin.
Every guy I knew in UK was into Led Zeppelin they would never admit to being into Journey but I didn't compromise my musical integrity or any other integrity and waited for my American dream!!!
