Hello Otto, I found a way to lock the gamble camera movement on the pocket 3. Press and hold the joystick button. The gamble will stay locked. You follow fast moving objects. Release the button and it returns the mode you were using before you locked it. This was another really good video. Keep up the great work!
@@GTGTV thanks! Just keep in mind that holding the joystick locks all axis so no matter how you move the handle the camera will point in the same direction, so it will not turn like a regular camera would
Great video! I've been planning to buy the Action 5 Pro, and I'm almost decided on it, but from time to time, I still check out the Pocket 3. The only downside is that the Pocket 3 is not waterproof, and the gimbal might be fragile. However, it includes the DJI Mic 2, which is something I really want. I hope they sell the Mic 2 as a standalone receiver only, as I don't need the transmitter.

I have the 3, which is great in its own right. One of the more eye-catching differences when looking at close up images - in this case of a person - is that DJI 5 PRO shows a halo along high contrast edges, as opposed to DJI Pocket 3, where the transition is soft and pleasant.
Interessant, ich hab nämlich beide Cams und frag' mich, ob nicht mit der Action die Pocket obsolet ist. Interesting, cause I have both cams and wonder if the Poket is obsolete with the Action.
I feel like if it wasn't for the osmo's fragility and the fact it's not water proof, it would be an easy win for the osmo. Even tho the dynamic range on the action 5 is supposed to be better, I kinda like how the osmo looks better, so to me it seems like a choice of durability vs video quality
Hi Otto! This video came in time. I really like all your comparison videos and the slight humour sometimes =p. While I had Pocket 3 for long time for some reason my experience with gimbal stuck once having to replace made me very scared to use it and it sat. I sold it and am now in between Ace Pro, Go 3S and now the subject tracking is making Action 5 quite tempting as it was feature I liked in Pocket 3. Which one might you recommend fro travel, vlog, cooking type videos. The Go3S seem to be good one as it can give POV of cooking, but then Ace is better in low-light... Quite conflicting! Thanks any advice..Toronto here!
Sorry about the late reply, Too bad that you had issues with the P3, and now the problem is trying to choose one of the many choices out there. There are pros and cons with each one, so you will have to (if you haven't already) choose based on what you need the most. I think the Action 5 is a solid choice, but I carry the Go 3S with me almost anywhere. New Ace Pro 2 just came out, I made a review and will have some comparison videos really soon

I had the pocket 3 now I have the action 5. Both excellent cameras. But for me the Action 5 is the winner. Simple because it’s extremely robust and also offers better value for money. And the stills from the action 5 are definitely better. I tried shooting raw stills with both cameras. And in my opinion, both cameras are better when shooting JPEG’s. And for editing Snapseed appears to bring out the best quality.

The A4 is great but I hear a lot about its overheating issues, so I'm keeping my A3 as it's really an amazing device (especially after my GoPro 7 Black).

Hello Otto 🙏 i got the pocket 3 and love it! But i only shoot 1080 on most of my shots, except my 4k walking videos. Can you pls recommend a good 1080p action camera? I was looking at the insta360 go 3/3s. Or should i go with dji osmo 5? I currently film with the Osmo action 1 still 😅 Go pro is not an option, im not a fan of all the issues 😅 So insta360 or DJI for action camera. Mainly will be used for travel videos, food vlogging. I like the idea of the insta360 go to, the black 1 with black tshirt to catch the food vendors by suprise hoping they dont notice the camera 😁 so i get the natural shots when i order food. With the osmo action 1 i got q chest strap, and ppl can see the camera easily. Ty so much in advance, love love love your videos! Wish u lots of success in life 🙏
hi! I think you answered yourself while trying to explain to me what you need. I would skip the Go 3 and get the GO3s if that's what you feel it's the best for you. If you already have the P3 then it makes sense to pair with a smaller discreet camera for those food vendors and POV shots. At the same time, the Action 4/5 would be my main priority to upgrade the original DJI Action, which should give you better image quality and more features. Difficult decision
Not an easy question as this depends on what you need and your knowledge level with cameras/editing. For the most part normal 10bit color. 4K. 24 or 30fps if you want a natural motion blur look in your video
For indoor like the restaurant the Pocket 3 might be better unless you have lots of light when you are shooting there (natural light, not artificial light). For outdoors both cameras will be good. I prefer the P3 but there is a small learning curve with the gimbal, and if you do vlogging style the background will be blurred as I probably mentioned in this video, but quality wise it’s better. It’s up to you, I make these videos to let people have a better idea of what to expect according to their needs
not really, for side by side comparison I try to leave it as it came out of the camera, unless the video was shot in a flat color profile (D Log M in the case of these cameras). Do they look bad?
been seeing reports not to use the pocket 3 if it starts to rain. That would be bad news if a little rain can damage the P3. Anyone have any experience?

Great comparison, I'd like to but both of them, but I have to choose only one. Sometimes I do things in water, like snorkeling or wakeboarding and etc, so it's clear that's only Action 5 suitable here. But does DJI Action 5 has "Pre-Recording" function, like Go pro? when you start recording and camera fixing 5 sec before the start, really valuable to catch important moments and save memory.

Oh that’s not exactly a tripod. It’s an extension stick and there is a bigger tripod on the floor. I like the original one that comes with the creator combo. You can buy it separately. Let me try to get the link

Hi Otto, one question, I upgraded the firmware of the Action5 a few days ago, and now the Tracking mode, the limited tracking mode, works terribly bad, do you know why? or do you had the same issue?. Other question, Im considering the Pocket 3, but, in the tracking mode, is it possible to do a offset of the center tracking? i mean that the tracking always keeps you head in the center of the image, and tahats not the best, it is better if the head is a little bit upper in the frame. hi, don't know what you mean with your description of the tracking mode on the Action 5. As for the Pocket 3, yeah there is a dynamic tracking thing (forgot the name, you can see it in my original review) where you can select a different position for the tracking, based on a grid system that it has, so top left, top mid, top right, same for middle, and then bottom.
@@OttoJulian_ Hi Otto, thanks for answering my questions, I loved the Pocket3's ability to adjust tracking. Otto, on the Action5, the camera also had a tracking mode, which was limited to a certain distance as it cropped 4k to 2.7k, it was basic but fun to use. But now, after updating the firmware, this tracking mode works very poorly, it's constantly shaking, and it doesn't track smoothly and continuously, that's what I mean. Before the firmware update, this tracking mode worked, simple and smooth, but it worked well. I've read on the DJI forum that this has happened to many, but DJI hasn't said anything...

I'm considering getting a dji camera for vogging and UA-cam face facing videos. I'm going to get the action 5 because I hope to use it outside on holidays too. But I've started to like the idea of doing some interview style scenes in some videos (2 people) using the dji mic 2 for 2x person audio support. But I'm going to need a 2nd camera for that. 1 camera per person's face seems weird getting two action 5s. Do u think having 1 of each, pocket 3 and action 5 being used for filming in one interview would offer good consistency in footage? Does pocket 3 have blur? I would love both, but want to make sure having both and using them for serperate scenarios as well as in 1 scenario like an interview would be complementary. Or get two action 5s. Would you share your thoughts based on your footage and use of the camera? Thx!
Hi. I’d prefer to use the same camera in this case because indoors they will perform differently and it will be noticeable. If those differences don’t bother you, getting one of each is not a bad idea. Yes the Pocket 3 has blur if it’s close enough to the subject. The Action 5 doesn’t have blur
for low light I prefer the Pocket 3, you might have to do some changes here and there if there are people walking close by (autofocus) and might not be too good if you want to do vlogging style and want your background all focused
Great video, as always. Comparing footage is very valuable, however, unless you are comparing footage, the differences aren’t apparent. Viewing either camera’s videos alone would be quite pleasing. If someone watches a video, only techies will be looking for dynamic range, or resolution; they won’t be watching the story.
@Fishycomics mentioned the C-type door was loose. It opens when you push it without pressing the button. The same thing happened on my dji 5. Do you also have such a problem? I wanted to ask if it could be a chronic problem.
Aren’t they both cameras? People look for this type of content because they don’t know what to buy or what’s the difference between these kind of cameras. Some use it just for vlogging, both cameras can do the job, so yeah why not. Older videos like this have a big engagement, I can tell you people don’t come to look at my face so there is people interested in these kind of information. @ you do mention in review that it is able to achieve similar results as more expensive cameras, but I do agree under 500 isn’t going to achieve anything compared to a 1000 + device.

You can’t. Lock mode only positions the camera to not move anywhere when you move the handle, and the new mode is useless as it doesn’t completely block the gimbal, its a faster FPV mode but still with a delay and slower movement than a point and shoot. At this point you are mostly being disrespectful and are not bringing in anything positive to the channel.

I have both. I use the pocket 3 for vlogs and then more adventurous stuff I use the action 5

Both can be good. Just depends what you want to achieve and your shooting style

For indoor like the restaurant the Pocket 3 might be better unless you have lots of light when you are shooting there (natural light, not artificial light). For outdoors both cameras will be good. I prefer the P3 but there is a small learning curve with the gimbal, and if you do vlogging style the background will be blurred as I probably mentioned in this video, but quality wise it’s better. It’s up to you, I make these videos to let people have a better idea of what to expect according to their needs

not really, for side by side comparison I try to leave it as it came out of the camera, unless the video was shot in a flat color profile (D Log M in the case of these cameras). Do they look bad?

Great comparison, I'd like to but both of them, but I have to choose only one. Sometimes I do things in water, like snorkeling or wakeboarding and etc, so it's clear that's only Action 5 suitable here.
But does DJI Action 5 has "Pre-Recording" function, like Go pro?
when you start recording and camera fixing 5 sec before the start, really valuable to catch important moments and save memory.

Oh that’s not exactly a tripod. It’s an extension stick and there is a bigger tripod on the floor. I like the original one that comes with the creator combo. You can buy it separately. Let me try to get the link

Hi Otto, one question, I upgraded the firmware of the Action5 a few days ago, and now the Tracking mode, the limited tracking mode, works terribly bad, do you know why? or do you had the same issue?. Other question, Im considering the Pocket 3, but, in the tracking mode, is it possible to do a offset of the center tracking? i mean that the tracking always keeps you head in the center of the image, and tahats not the best, it is better if the head is a little bit upper in the frame. hi, don't know what you mean with your description of the tracking mode on the Action 5. As for the Pocket 3, yeah there is a dynamic tracking thing (forgot the name, you can see it in my original review) where you can select a different position for the tracking, based on a grid system that it has, so top left, top mid, top right, same for middle, and then bottom.

Otto, on the Action5, the camera also had a tracking mode, which was limited to a certain distance as it cropped 4k to 2.7k, it was basic but fun to use. But now, after updating the firmware, this tracking mode works very poorly, it's constantly shaking, and it doesn't track smoothly and continuously, that's what I mean. Before the firmware update, this tracking mode worked, simple and smooth, but it worked well. I've read on the DJI forum that this has happened to many, but DJI hasn't said anything...

I'm considering getting a dji camera for vogging and UA-cam face facing videos. I'm going to get the action 5 because I hope to use it outside on holidays too. But I've started to like the idea of doing some interview style scenes in some videos (2 people) using the dji mic 2 for 2x person audio support. But I'm going to need a 2nd camera for that. 1 camera per person's face seems weird getting two action 5s. Do u think having 1 of each, pocket 3 and action 5 being used for filming in one interview would offer good consistency in footage? Does pocket 3 have blur? I would love both, but want to make sure having both and using them for serperate scenarios as well as in 1 scenario like an interview would be complementary. Or get two action 5s. Would you share your thoughts based on your footage and use of the camera? Thx!
Hi. I’d prefer to use the same camera in this case because indoors they will perform differently and it will be noticeable. If those differences don’t bother you, getting one of each is not a bad idea. Yes the Pocket 3 has blur if it’s close enough to the subject. The Action 5 doesn’t have blur

I want to mostly shoot in low light. Only street lights kind of scenario. Action 5 or OP3
for low light I prefer the Pocket 3, you might have to do some changes here and there if there are people walking close by (autofocus) and might not be too good if you want to do vlogging style and want your background all focused

Great video, as always. Comparing footage is very valuable, however, unless you are comparing footage, the differences aren’t apparent. Viewing either camera’s videos alone would be quite pleasing. If someone watches a video, only techies will be looking for dynamic range, or resolution; they won’t be watching the story.

@Fishycomics mentioned the C-type door was loose. It opens when you push it without pressing the button. The same thing happened on my dji 5. Do you also have such a problem? I wanted to ask if it could be a chronic problem.

@ you do mention in review that it is able to achieve similar results as more expensive cameras, but I do agree under 500 isn’t going to achieve anything compared to a 1000 + device.

You can’t. Lock mode only positions the camera to not move anywhere when you move the handle, and the new mode is useless as it doesn’t completely block the gimbal, its a faster FPV mode but still with a delay and slower movement than a point and shoot. I really don’t like your comments so next time you question my “integrity” you are getting banned from making comments, same if you create other accounts. At this point you are mostly being disrespectful and are not bringing in anything positive to the channel.
