With the death of Constantine II, the last King of the Hellenes, on 10 January 2023, here is a BBC-styled royal death tribute to the former Greek King with the national anthem of Greece, "Hymn to Liberty", featuring two his portraits: one during his reign, and the other during his elderly years.
I no longer included a news report of his death for it is hard to find one knowing that I don't speak nor understand Greek.
When I met him as an Englishman, I was the only one in the room who bowed to him and addressed him as "Your Majesty".
Long Live The Greek Monarchy!
RIP, good man, one of my favorite monarchs. Even tho he did not rule anymore, to me he is on the same rank and level as the late Queen Elizabeth II. Once a king always a king, a military junta cannot take that from him.
I take that concept as true. When I met him once, I bowed and addressed him as "Your Majesty", I was the only one in the area who did (and i'm British too)
Rest in peace our king 🇬🇷💙🤴
Rest in Peace King Constantinos II. He always loved his country so much.

Although It's sad he died it's nice that he passed away in the country he once ruled and always loved unlike a lot of other deposed or exiled monarchs
At least he was allowed to go back home for good.
We lost a great king
Our King. He was a good man.
Condolences, our Greek friends.
Heartfelt condolences to all the Royalists in Greece
Rest in Peace
Rest in peace, Your Highness
He's still King even after being deposed. So it's just "Your Majesty".
RIP
Historical Fact: Constantine II was an able sportsman. In 1958, King Paul gave his son a Lightning class sailing boat for Christmas. Subsequently, Crown Prince Constantine spent most of his free time training with the boat on the Saronic Gulf. After a few months, the Greek Navy gave the prince a Dragon class sailing boat, with which he decided to participate in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. At the opening of the Games in Rome, he was the flag bearer for the Greek team. He won an Olympic gold medal in Sailing (Dragon class), which was the first Greek gold medal in sailing since the Stockholm 1912 Summer Olympics. Constantine was the helmsman of the boat "Nireus" and the other members of the team were Odysseus Eskitzoglou and Georgios Zaimis.
That's true. That's why he became a part of the Olympic Committee
Imagine if he actually participated..
Rest in peace..that i think makes King Simeon of Bulgaria the last 20th century European monarch still alive i think...someome correct me if im wrong.

No.

@@TheLizKirkland Do you even know WHO was Berlusconi?
@@FlagAnthem I know who's Berlusconi, he is the longest serving Italian PM
wasn't greece a republic?
Yes. Why?
@@paolocabling but why Greece still has a King eventho Greece is a Republic? sorry, bcs I'm really clueless
Yes, Greece is currently a republic. It became a republic after when King Constantine and his family were exiled during a military coup which was short-lived. After that, Greece held a referendum wherein the majority chose to be a republic and King Constantine was out of power. But his royal title as King remained even though he no longer lead Greece. He's still respected as their former head of state and King despite having political opposition, most especially from the left.
@@paolocabling wow, thank you for the explanation!
Our country abolished the Monarchy after a long period of political instability.
Changes, a military junta, communists… a lot of ups and downs.
The point is that all of them suddenly turned against our King.
The Monarchy ended, they deprived all them members of the Royal Family of the Right of Hellenic nationality…
Even today our State refuses the Hellenic nationality and passports to the members of the Royal Family…🤬
No words to describe our shame…
Even though we are a Republic today the King doesn’t stop being a King.
He just lost his role in the political system of our country.
He was still a King to the day he passed away. Anna-Maria is still our Queen and the rest of the titles do not change as well!
Rip to our late King Constantine II
Long live King PavlosII 👑🇬🇷

Sounds 2004..
Why 2004?

Are you referring to the Olympics during that year? Sorry I don't get your point very well since the way you commented isn't clear to me.
