I do enjoy the detailing series a lot and I'd say the guys have earned another 8 hours to get the turd fully polished up. This was just their pre-clean session.
I was thinking the same. This was nothing more than the equivalent of a pre-rinse on a normal vehicle. Now it's ready to be cleaned and detailed. I can't believe they quit when they did.
The company who operates these would use a lot less fuel if they at least gave the tracks & road wheels a brief wash down every once in a while. It'd be well worth the time. We used to operate a couple of BV206s as shoot transport and this was definitely the case for those. Just knocking off the big mud accumulations was enough to lower the rolling friction by quite a bit.
The place that runs them is called Armourgeddon. They have about 40 of them if i remember correctly, although i don't know how many of those actually run. They got a load of them from the British army and put a paintball cannon on the top and run tank paintball battles. I've been there a few times, and don't remember seeing them quite that dirty, so i think the "Once a year" thing is hyperbole. Not least of which because they will need to clean off the paintballs after a few battles.
Having maintained many 4-3's, that one needs a bit of maintenance. The track is too slack, it needs grease in rear idler. The front sprockets are worn and the track pads need replacing. With all that washing they probably need to take the Hull plugs out. That's a total nightmare though due to the oil. The Rarden cannon is cool though. I ordered one back in the day and it almost turned up until the depot noticed my unit wasn't qualified to order the ammunition for the cannon. It was worth the extra guard duties!
the real fun of cleaning an AFV comes from having to crawl under the vehicle to pressure wash the underside after a nice muddy mission (source: ex armour)
Gents this is a FV434 APC it’s a Diesel engine because the exhaust is on the side. The FV432 APC is petrol and the exhaust was on the top. I had many a happy time driving one of these during my Army life. After each exercise we would wash them down with high (massive) pressure big fire hoses. This is now used for tank paint balling (good fun). They wouldn’t come with a gun turret, like this, that’s been added for the paint balling. Section APC’s came with a machine gun turret. Some FV432 were fitted with a Rarden Cannon turret normally found on a Simiiter light tank but you only seen this type in Berlin. Great fun to drive. Not very comfortable for the poor guys in the back.
The only thing with a rolls Royce engine I have ever driven is one of those things, it's not a tank it's a turreted afv. The mud really stinks. Like an agri or forest vehicle but a bit quicker. Love the use of a jet washer inside!
I use to drive and look after 6 of these, 432 436 whilst I was in the army. We took them to Canada and had to do a biological clean, literally no mud, dust oil or anything could be on it. We had a day and night shift on the wash down constantly with the jet wash on then some dood would stick his finger in a hole you didn't know was there and pull out more dirt. That bloke nearly got murdered!
For anybody genuinely interested in this, the easiest way to do this is start from the top and work your way down with a pressure washer. Clean the outside, then the inside, then touch up the outside where you will inevitably leave footprints from going in and out.
I mean, they only had 6 hours to do the job, and the tank was very dirty when they started, so in summary, I think they did a good job. Not perfect, but still good.
that was kinda disappointing honestly, like i'm not volunteering, but these are professional detailers right? it looks like it just went through an auto wash, not hand cleaned by professionals
Fun to watch but that's not clean. If we'd left ours like that we would have been in big trouble - and have to do it again properly. Not even clean enough for day to day, never mind a detail which would have been the annual CIV Inspection when all vehicles would have been gleaming. :-)
If your washing the inside ur better off as well when washing it out getting under the belly of the 432 and taking the pugs out cos if not the water will just stay under the floor boards
Honestly I'm disappointed. I thought it was going to be a *DEEP* clean, but it was literally just a spray down with water. 0/10 Top Gear is nothing without the three musketeers and BBC doesn't deserve them.
Good job it looks a little better than it did before? It just needs a touch-up here and there and a brand new paint job, beside that I think you two did a good job.

There’s a couple of Albanian lads in car wash near me that would have embarrassed these 2 boys…would’ve only cost about £20 as well
Send them to the u.s they'll be huge.
Why country are you from?
@@444_balmain4 Britain, he uses pounds
I bet they used a pressure washer😭
But would they put it on top gear I didn’t think so
Easily my favorite TopGear produced show since Clarkson, Hammond, and May were hosting. Look forward to more! Very enjoyable.
Been thinking the same thing. These guys are a great team.
Very much cleaner than it was before in the end, but hardly what I think most people would consider "detailed" but I'd say it's a good start on it.

Its an 8 hour challenge they have no choice? Im sure they would have wanted to get stuck into but the time is up, that’s why its a challenge.
@@spencerconio3497 Then, while I was trying to avoid negativity, they failed in spite of a valiant effort.
@@torjones1701 My comment wasn’t negative.
Tank cleaning is very relevant now it seems.
I was waiting to see someone start it up when they were congratulating themselves and immediately drive it through a mud hole
James may would love to work this job as the cleaning crew, if he was still there
the issue is, sometime you gotta go faster and sacrifice perfection.
I just finished clay barring and polishing my tank yesterday it was a proper chore.

Saw a whole battle group get washed down. Hundreds of vehicles Being prepared for the next exercise. Those 432s are still in service since 1962!!.
The. TGPD is back
It's amazing what the proper lighting can do for a shot.😉

We had to clean our tank after every exercise and ahead of every weekend, not once a year!
Can't get enough of these boys - best thing to happen to TG in a long time

This is epic! Especially when you are a Detailer yourself 😂
Well done Mr Huntley and Mr Stjarnagloss ..... nice job 👍👍
What a challenge
As a tank nerd. This was great
Since we have a tank, i expect to see a train in the next episode. lol! Great job btw :)
kind of addicted to this series
Must of made that tank a ton lighter after all that mud off it!
THAT is not a tank. It is an APC at most an IFV, basically a glorified taxi.
🤓
I can imagine a british general rolls in inside the tank and say "Clean the Tank. Off you go"
They made it so clean, that I can't even see it anymore.

@ 3.45 what is the spray that it being sprayed to remove the dirt? Before fomming
As someone who likes tanks, This looks good
Great work fellas, some good old fashioned hard work there. Good on ye 👍
When is the next series of top gear out ?
For anybody genuinely interested in this, the easiest way to do this is start from the top and work your way down with a pressure washer. Clean the outside, then the inside, then touch up the outside where you will inevitably leave footprints from going in and out.
That´s exactly what i was thinking! High pressure waterjet this and it all just turns into liquid mud, probably takes like 30mins max...done. 🤷♂
a tank doesnt need cleaning, more mud is just more camouflage
No
Wow, there's actual paint on and in that thing :)
Should've took it to Tidworth Tank Wash on Salisbury Plain,....10 min Job .
Detailing a tank 😲
Need to work on the swirl marks. Should do a 3 stage polishing.
I mean, they only had 6 hours to do the job, and the tank was very dirty when they started, so in summary, I think they did a good job. Not perfect, but still good.
"your the mop" 🤣🤣👍
Dammmn, he broke the shock absorver cover
Looks amazing
I really wish all these non-TG videos were uploaded to a second channel.
Not a complete job, they left the inside of the turret 😂
You guys are great! What an awesome job on that tank. Came out looking way better than I ever thought possible!
Firehose! Lads.
But brilliant stuff. Love it.
« Tank cleaning ».
That’s an armored vehicule my guys.
Just thought you'd like to know this is not a tank. It is an armored personnel carrier.
This APC is from the 60s.
And if we were Russian it would still be in use 🤣
Initially read that as All Purpose Cleaner, being a video about detailing and then realised what you meant 😂 🧽
Looks the same as if we were to take it to the washracks.....
This isn't a tank it is a APC the Hull is from a FV432 and the turret is from a greyhound armoured car
Jeremy must be laughing hid ass off watching this 😂
Surprised no tire shine was added
Knackered pre , pre wash. Stage one.
This reminds me, *Alexa place an order for a foam cannon*
A REALLY high-power jet wash, like we use in the military, is needed here, not pussy-footing around with a couple of crowbars.
Once again, if it's got tracks people call it a tank.
This has never been a tank
It will never be a tank.
Since it's washed once a year, where did it get so muddy
decent job lads
戦車を洗車?
ロマンしかない
i want clarkson,hammond and james back :(
And it'll get dirty again in no time lol
Woo!
that was kinda disappointing honestly, like i'm not volunteering, but these are professional detailers right? it looks like it just went through an auto wash, not hand cleaned by professionals
Really a bar...... pressure washer for it.....
do i miss something?? 6 cylinder ,12 piston?? 0:55
That's not a tank. It's an APC.
4:44 how to apply UN paint schemes
remove bottom drain plug and birdbath would take 5 min
i wonder if they used any APC on the APC?
Dont call it a tank if it isn't
Car Detailers aka people who clean cars and own really expensive jet washes so charge a fortune to clean your car cause their overheads are huge
Not a tank,it's a apc
Fun to watch but that's not clean. If we'd left ours like that we would have been in big trouble - and have to do it again properly. Not even clean enough for day to day, never mind a detail which would have been the annual CIV Inspection when all vehicles would have been gleaming. :-)
Super video i just always keep admiring by the cars and the crew are patient..
That's why the mud won't come off my car am not using a crow bar 🤷♂️
Isn’t this thing a knockoff m113?
Pretty nice episode btw
Nothing quite like the feeling of a clean tank 😌
It's obvious you don't wash trucks regularly
Tank from wish 💀
You mad heads. I valet. Not detail. Own car trade stock. No idea what you do to valet detail this. Products use. Owt ? Looks crazy.
What about the ceramic coating???
Easy shit chemical guys would have that old girl just shinning in no time
using a _foam cannon_ ... on a _tank_ . not normally the kind of juxtapositioin you'd find on a military vehicle.
If your washing the inside ur better off as well when washing it out getting under the belly of the 432 and taking the pugs out cos if not the water will just stay under the floor boards
It'll buff out..
Wish they gave you some more time
Honestly I'm disappointed. I thought it was going to be a *DEEP* clean, but it was literally just a spray down with water.
0/10
Top Gear is nothing without the three musketeers and BBC doesn't deserve them.
Tanks look better with dirts ..
We need AMMO NYC
Good job it looks a little better than it did before? It just needs a touch-up here and there and a brand new paint job, beside that I think you two did a good job.
Is this what Top Gear has become? 😏
Popped in to see the mates get stuck in and knackered job done cheers
Why are they working bottom-to-top?!
Since the Ukraine war, i now know the difference between a tank and an APC. that's an APC
Nice! Now send it, and as many as you can find like it, to Ukraine.
Christ knows how these two chancers managed to convince the channel to make a series about them.
Sad what TopGear has become
They done a good job.
