Although you're right, life's about realising ones own limits. And if you can't handle the pressures of the fame game, you have to be smart enough to get out.
It’s so sad. Especially since it sounds like his fall was an actual/accidental fall and not a suicide attempt (which also would have been sad). Yes, the NYTimes mentioned the emergency call by the hotel worker. Apparently, all the hotel staff were very concerned about the crazed state he seemed to be in. I don’t think they knew who it was. I think they were just concerned that a guest was in an escalated state and was damaging all the stuff in his room, and they thought it was under the influence of drugs and alcohol so they were worried that he could fall from being so out of control. But he fell before 911 responders arrived. The hotel staff were right to be so concerned. The NYTimes also reported Liam Payne’s having said earlier in life when he was trying to get sober that One Direction’s fame had been highly problematic in that the only way to keep the band members safe and secure was for them to stay in their individual hotel rooms all the time. So they each spent a lot of time alone in hotel rooms during their very long world tours. He said “and what’s in a hotel room? The mini bar.” So he just started having his own parties with the mini bar while essentially locked in his hotel rooms all over the world. And it sounds like this was from a pretty young age.
So apparently a man who's so highly intoxicated should be taken care by the police as a "disturbance" and not be helped by an ambulance?? He clearly needed help and these people used their phones to take photos instead of using it to call for immediate help!
