It’s difficult in Az, USA to find allot of these bottles…thank goodness we can get these gems shipped across the pond….BUT…locally The Speyburn 15 is available for $65…it’s definitely the best value for money and punches well above imo
My best scotch of 2022 was the Bunnahabhain 2022 12 yr cask strength. It is something special indeed. I have two left unopened and finally picking up another tomorrow.
Cracking list Alan. Been trying to get hold of the Bunna 12 but really battling find it in the Netherlands. My whisky of the year came down to a choice between Arran 18, Ledaig 18 and Glen Scotia 8 Peated PX. In the end I would have to go for the GS because you would expect the two 18's to be brilliant. The GS8 is rich, sherried, peated and cask strength - say no more!!
Nice selections Alan. Have yet to try the Craigellachie 17 or Bunna 12 CS, but I will keep my eyes out for them. This year I found myself going back to the Benromach 15 more than any other bottle in my cabinets. Wishing you a happy holiday season.
I’m a bit of a newbie so haven’t tried all these yet as still feeling my way. Bunnahabhain 12 is a corker. I really like the Glen Scotia double cask and the Bruichladdich Classic Laddie. Deanston 12 is very drinkable too as is the Arran Barrel Reserve. I have a Tamdhu 12, Glencadam 10 and a Kilkerren 12 which I’ve yet to open. Your reviews heavily influenced my purchase of these and I’m really looking forward to cracking these open! Keep up these excellent reviews 👍👍👍
Love each of these whiskies and every moment I can find to watch you unpack these and give insight into their flavours. I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
All great Jon, sending festive blessings to you and yours from me and mine my friend and the journey get back on the road in 2023....hope the weather is not to bad at your end.. Stay safe fella
Great list!! Have the Bunna 12 CS and agree is awesome. Craigallechie 13 is amazing too. I struggle with the Craigallechie 17 as its so expensive in US ($170+) and its only 4 years older than the 13 for $50! I really enjoyed the Speyburn 15 but haven't seen it in over a year. Orchard House is a tremendous whiskey for the money. We have gone through many bottles especially over the summer!
Haha! Fantastic. I boutght the 12CS off your reccomendation and it just arrived today. The 2021 release really turned a corner for me half way down the bottle, but heard some great things about this years release! Looking forward to hearing more from you in the new year. Slainté
Great suggestions Alan! Surprised, but not really, that 2 Craigallachies made the list. I havent tried Compass Box yet, it looks great. I knew you couldnt resist putting the Killkerran on there somewhere. I reckon its your all-time favorite. Have a great New Year!
thanks buddy, Glenallachie just needed a break, that would really have been confusing amongst the Craigellachies....this Bunna reminds me so much of my fav Kilkerran 8 57.1% abv oloroso....thanks for dropping by and have a great festive season buddy....
@@thewhiskyfriend if that Bunna is anything like the Kilkerran 8 57.1%, I might be prepared to sacrifice a kidney for it. That KK8 remains one of my favourite sherried whiskies up there with Billy Walker Glendronach 18.
Great list Alan. Need to grab a bottle of that Arran Quarter Cask. Sounds fantastic. Thanks for your great work & videos this year mate & pointing me in the right direction on my whisky journey.
Your very welcome Jez, if your ever around Manchester your invited to the shed fella... And yes you need to pick up that Arran qtr cask my friend... Sending festive blessings to you and yours from me and mine.... Cheers Jez
Kicking myself I missed this huge deal last November... both the Balvenie 12 Doublewood and the Craigeallachie 17 for less than the price of the Craigeallachie alone! It was early November and when I saw the deal I thought "such a deal this early in November, they must have something awesome in store for Black Friday proper"... I was wrong and I still kick myself over it. I wanted a replacement for my Doublewood but didn't know anything about Craigeallachie so I didn't immediately realize what a deal this was...Tasted the Craigeallachie 17 a couple weeks later... damn, so good. Still no doublewood replacement, it's become so expensive as of late (keep in mind I live in Brazil... scotch is extremely expensive here). uuuuugh! Cheers!
Great list! So sad we can't get the Bunna 12 CS in Sweden. We do however have an excellent selection of Craigellechie from Indie bottlers that I'm really enjoying.
I suspect UA-cam fired this at me based on that last dram 😁😂 but I’m delighted you enjoyed this year’s 12CS so much! Slàinte & Happy New Year when it arrives! 😁👊🥃
Dear Alan, I enjoy Kilkerran 16 and Bunnahabhain 12 very much . Been drinking Craigellechie 13 for decades. A super dram and so sincere. Merry Christmas 🎄 Alan and good health and happiness for a happy new year ! Ciao 👋 S.
All great Sandro... Sending festive blessings to you and yours from me and mine my friend... Have a good one and we will catch up in 2023...ciao fella....
Great video as always! A little surprised, knowing your live of GA 10 CS that it didn't show up in some iteration. Looking for that 12 CS whenever it hits Canada. Also, Craigellachie 13 is a stunner for the price. Very characterful, and overdelivers on value. All the best in 2023!
Good video Alan, craigellachie 13 is great especially for the price. The dram for me this year is AnConc 18. All the best Alan and wish you, your family and of course your channel all the best for the coming year. Excellent, slàinte Alan and Doon the hatch.🥃
What a fantastic whisky selection you provided here ! As a peaty head myself, I was expected a PC 10 maybe next year 😉Haven't tried yet the Craigellachie 17 and Speyburn 15 but they're on my list (if by any chance Santa reads this comment !!) Thanks and cheers Alan ! Nice Xmas to y'all !
i did the pc 10 as the first video of 2022 and it was in the reckoning along with the pc olc:01 2010...never quite made it to the end as the Bunna burst onto the scene with a week to go....and its exceptional my friend....
Gotta keep the wife happy, my friend 🙂!! All-round great list of whiskies. Sorry to see no peat on the list, but then again, you could go on for days picking great whisky, and have to cut the list somewhere. We are in somewhat of a dichotomy of whisky-production vs whisky-availability these days. Tons of great whiskies being produced, but getting our hands on it... well, there is where the problem lies. Do you think the industry as a whole is playing games with the customer base? There are supposedly millions of barrels of whisky sitting around, so why on earth would "the industry" make us all think that there are such shortages of good stuff? Well, you know the answer. Maximized profits... Frustrating. Okay, enough of my "whinging" about the reality of the whisky world today. Gotta get back to enjoying the short life we have been granted by the Creator, and not let all of this nonsense keep us down. Life is too short to drink bad whisky. Keep up the good work, fella!!
I live right in the heart of bourbon country, and I agree. I still love bourbon, but as my friend says, “It’s the high fructose corn syrup of whiskies”. The depth and diversity of flavors in single malts dwarfs that of bourbon.
The whisky in Australia is just to over priced, it’s taxed to much so we are not able to savor the whisky you have, can we purchase from a cheaper source
what would your whisky of the year be..?
This year's Glenallachie 2006 PX Cask #6607 is an absolutely delicious sherry bomb 🥃
Hazelburn 10.
