I am amazed at the broad spectrum of equipment that you are entrusted to fix. It’s clear that not only do you have a good deal of experience but a real good natural ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues. It’s very enjoyable to watch you figure things out.
Leckyjake ships electrics must be serious issue the element seawater gets in everywhere you do good job it is a joy to watch engineer at work step by step fault finding keep safe till next time
Now that is what a perfect troubleshooting is... May be the deck top guys should also see this that how much of techical skills it requires to troubleshoot and slove instead of only saying hurry up.
Man, please show in details how and where you put your multimeter probes to measure if it going 24 volts or no, because many usual engineers watching your blog😊. Thanks 👍
Hey Jake Have 2 metallic barges set up for commercial diver training. Separated by about 0.5m between each other with a walkway between them both. Seperate generators on each barge. Worried about the potential difference between the two. Should both gen sets on the barges be bonded together? And the barges bonded to each other too? I thought they should be. Thanks so much if you can answer
I'm not a marine electrician but I do work on live event production with generator systems and such. Typically if there is any connection between the power systems we will ensure all grounds are bonded. That said in your situation odds are the water itself likely would handle any common grounding I'd wager. If concerned about potential between vessels them you could always meter from the walkway to a given hull/ground and see if there is any measurable potential between them and then act accordingly.
2-3 years seems like an unusually short life for a solid state relay. I thought the video was going to end on you finding pinched conduit or something shorting the system.

Lecky is the most important crew member on a ship. Without one, the ship will be dead in the water.
Another masterpiece from the world class ETO. Mabuhay🇵🇭💪👏

Jake, thanks a lot for your videos. It helped me within this hard year to remember my job
welcome back
I've had problems with those small relays in the past. I think it is important that any inductive loads have back emf diodes across them.
Now that is what a perfect troubleshooting is...

we usually do the same in the vessel with the ship to ship bunkering and other ship to ship operation and we do not do anything at all.
