Your criticisms are valid, Kinhank took a current free build and stuck tens of thousands of duplicates in it to pad the numbers and then screwed up the main menu to fill it with systems or arcade boards that are only there to satisfy the 'gotta have it all' posse. if you checked out the build they took you would find a streamlined menu, no duplicates and a size thats under 200GB. You wont have hundreds of thousands of games you wont ever play nor will you have current releases but all in it will be a far more pleasant experience, as well as being free!!
@@dr_lulz The reason why people buy these is that there is no easy original build. You have to choose a desired framework (in this case, Hyperspin but people use Retrobat, Launchbox, etc). Then you have to download each separate emulator for each machine. For example, Yuzu for Switch games. Then, you have to make sure the emulator will run properly on your system, which isn’t always easy. Sometimes an emulator will only run a fraction of the ROMs/ISOs you have. You may need to tweak settings to get it running properly graphically. So basically, you have to manually add emulators and test and debug each of them. This is why some people just want a pre-configured system like this one.
I just bought the drive and saw your video. For whatever reason, my arcade games run super slow. I have a new gaming PC, so I know that's not the problem.
@@quickskillz The big problem when you go into the emulator menu most of them safe Chinese so good luck using google with translate to be able to set the controller
Couple of quick questions! 1. I’m building up my own retro library - is this a “shortcut” - in that I can copy the ROMs off of this that I would like? Say for example, to put them on an SD card and use them in a handheld (such as the Odin 2). Or, is there any reason why that’s not a good idea? 2. Can I do the inverse - as in, adding more games to this hard drive? I will likely delete the playnite folder to save space. So if I want to add more PS3 games for example, is that possible? Thanks!
Yes. All the roms are saved in the hard drive folder. You can copy the roms to your PC and use them. If you dump roms into the hyperspin, you will need to make sure the is in the correct form.
When I want to enter a game, I find that the disk does not find a folder called JoyToKey, and I looked for it and found it in the Rocket launcher folder, but when I want to launch the JoyToKey application it does not enter
I just copped one of these primarily for the ROM collection 🤣. I already have a pretty good collection but don't have the fastest internet to download all these games quickly. I think it's missing some big PS2 games like Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts but I already have those anyhow lol
Are there recommended specs for the type or computer to use? I will need to buy a new computer for this, so it would be good to know what kind of computer I should get.
Is there a light gun section? If not can you make a video on setting up game collections an adding games. If so how would i configure this with the retro shooter gun? Another question is is there a dedicated racing section so i can use the g29 wheel? If not can u make a video on this topic cause saw alot of videos and no one showcase a solution to this.
Light gun games are tricky because LED screens will not work the same way a CRT monitor will work. You will either need to connect a USB light gun to a computer with a CRT Monitor or use the mouse on your keyboard to control the light gun. There are monitor conversion kits but they are pricey and IDK if they work.
For the steering Wheel, I would assume, as long as it is connected prior to launching the hyperspin app it should work. However I cannot test it right now. If I put up a multiple controller video, It should work as another controller option.
Another question i wanted task if you can make a video on is how do you get two more more controler working with this drive? Like i want to play tony hawk skater 2 i dont know how i would add another controller to this cause i would love to play this game with girlfriend as a surprise gift for her
Yes I can do a multiple controller video. From my experience most of the time, you need to have both controllers connected prior to opening the hyperspin Launcher. For Tony Hawk that is all that is needed.
Hey guys. Great review pal thanks for this. My question. I wonder if can you have the HDD out of the USB 3 box and have it connected with the PC with a SATA 3 connection that my PC has like a normal HDD so to have more power and speed and stuff? Thanks in advance?
No but in my latest video about 3/4 of the way through, I take the cover off the drive. You can see it is a Seagate data center drive. Would just need to know how to connect one directly to PC.
I am unfamiliar with that product. I want to say no because the HDD requires windows OS. I have a new system arriving next week that might work for it that houses it's own OS

The problem with these Kinhank drives isn’t malware. It’s the cracked versions of more recent games. They set off a false flag because of the way they crack the DRM. This is why I simply would not play any of these newer cracked PC games. If I do get one of these I plan on just deleting the cracked games in gamenight or whatever that category is called. Because they probably are fakse flags and not actually malware… but i don’t care to find out. Other reviewers have stated that they have run these games that were false flagged, and have had no problems. However, i wouldn’t personally test it. The vast majority of the classic game ROMs in this thing are just fine though.
I have just got one of these and it's good but I'm having issues with my controller. If I press down on the left joystick the keboard option comes up but when I return to the game the x button that was previously shoor or jump etc. now transforms it to pause and start with no apparant way to fix it other than completely exiting the game and restarting it. It's really annoying as it's difficult not to depress it by accident.
When you are in the game, press tab if a menu pops up, change the inputs for this machine. Also you want to make sure your controller is already connected before launching huperspin.
