    60CH Entry
There she sat, hair as dark as night, with an outfit to match. Another Monday surround by the music gear that has filled her life with not only sound, but also meaning. For in nights of either cold Seattle rain or the warmth of friends and drink, music has seen her through. Her name is Emily she is 30 Years Old, but looks far younger; she is the host of the Get Offset Podcast. As she beings to speak she introduces her MAW. No, not her Mother, as one might expect, but rather a microphone pedal. Sitting off to Emily’s right, the bright greens and pinks of the MAW filled the room with the essence of spring. This made Emily smiles, for as she was recording this it was mid-February and the City of Seattle was quite gray, echoing the subtle gray in her every own eyes. The weather of the PNW didn’t bother Emily, it was actually quite the contrary. She found that the constant rain gave her the calm demeanor she enjoys bring to the Get Offset Podcast. Feeling as though other didn’t appreciate the rain like she did, made her think that maybe she was a bit offset herself. Still, the colors of the MAW brought a nice change of pace to her day. Despite being a guitar player and not a singer, she enjoyed demoing the various ways the MAW affected her voice. She even laughed as one of the effects reminded her of her least favorite episodes of the Twilight Zone, a show she watched with her actual mother. Reminding her to soon say hi to her mom as she demos the next setting. As she wraps the review up, she realizes she has never had so much fun speaking into a microphone, and she hosts a podcast! To close out the review, Emily thanks her audience for watching. A new smile unintentionally spreads across her face as she closes out the video. This kind of smile is only ever brought on by the always welcomed sense of connect she feels with her audience. It’s the kind of smile she hopes never leaves her face or life, and thankful, it never has to.

60 Cycle Hum entry… so blame Ryan!
Before watching the video I’d known of Emily and Get Offset from mentions and occasional appearances with Ryan of 60 Cycle Hum… so I somewhat expected them to share a similar set of “irreverent” sensibilities. I was not disappointed. There’s a certain endearing appeal to the whole, “this train could leave the tracks at any moment” type of presentation… a “fly by the seat of my pants” attitude which, when done right, is quite appealing. No slick production, no fancy editing… just a camera, a microphone, and a barrier-less “I’m just like you” attitude which is quite captivating.
The item under review was a vocal effects pedal (innocently called a Microphone Audio Workstation), which was, quite simply, a box of crazy that could take a simple XLR-equipped dynamic microphone and add all of the vocal effects you could ever want (and some you never realized you wanted). All the effects were familiar enough, being the usual fare offered as guitar pedals… but throwing them all together in a garish pink and green pedal enclosure was a stroke of genius (or madness… the jury may take a while deciding this case). Subtle? No… absolutely not… well, maybe a gentle reverb or echo would be genuinely useful at times, but this is a box of crazy… anything from rabid chipmunks to a Barber Shop Quartet from the seventh circle of Dante’s Hell. I’d love to sneak this into the signal chain at the local karaoke and hit something random when the local diva reaches her climax on, “I Will Always Love You” - c’mon… you know that would be hilarious!

As for the review… Emily squared up to the challenge and delivered a comprehensive review of the unit’s capabilities. In many ways, something like this defies a “regular” review… but not only did she clearly explain the functions and connectivity, she took the bull by the horns and fearlessly demonstrated what could be achieved (seriously, can you imagine Mitch Gallagher of Sweetwater tackling something like this?) Bottom line… if I was Old Blood Noise Endeavors, I’d be very happy with this video. Well done Emily.

WOW! Awesome! I was directed here by (60 cycle hum) 😊😁😊😁 I like your review a lot! I didn't know or do about vocal effects pedals. As a musician I've never tried them myself. Now I want to try these affects on my voice! You review is very fun and informative! I want to explore more now! Awesome! Keep up the good work! Peace and love to all!

Ryan sent me. It was a fun. It was about the MAW LXR pedal. Two channels put. One bank of basic controls, multiple reverbs. Octavia, flange, rotation, phase, swell and other options, outputable in both channels independently. It even has an effects loop. Anyway, in the unlikely chance that the affoffoda Strat contest is still running, this would be my entry. I enjoyed the video and will be back.

Good afternoon,I found your channel from 60 cycle and in my attempt to win the loosing guitar I've won a new and entertaining channel. I have watched many reviews and demos and honestly found this to be one of the most informative via entertainment. From sounding like " The person asking for a ransom" to singing Time after Time. Im positive any viewer will gain massive knowledge of this pedal and you seem like you're having a blast. Thank you for doing the demo and choosing to release it to use, you've got a new subscriber in me.

Ryan sent me and I am glad he did!! Old Blood Noise Endeavors MAW: Emily’s review of Microphone Audio Workstation - a “microphone pedal.” It has a Saturation Part that controls blend (distortion), volume, tone; 20db pad; 2 effects channels; XLR wet out and dry out; Mix for momentary or hard latching. It has an effect that sounds like you are breathing helium. It has an up and down effect that sounds like voice disguising on “Unsolved Mysteries.” (The two can be blended, as if one or the other was not enough. It has a phaser, echo, reverb and delay. It can be used with other pedals, like maybe a fuzz pedal. It is weird and easy to use and makes talking into a microphone fun.

Like many others, I was guided here by 60 Cycle Hum for the guitar giveaway to give a synopsis of your video demo of the MAW vocal microphone pedal.
I have no experience in vocal effects so it was helpful to watch your video.
In a nutshell, this vocal microphone pedal is packed with a useful array of effects with a decent amount of control over each individual effect. You looked like you had a lot of fun exploring them in your demonstration(s)!
Thanks to your video walk-thru I am putting this on my wishlist.

I'm here from 6CH giveaway challenge, but you've definitely gained a new sub!
You started out the video with an overall discussion of the controls for the pedal. The volume, blend and saturation I found to be pretty standard stuff but the distortion gave me is this it era of Julian Casablancas vibes. The octave up sounded quite funny, so I definitely appreciated that. The octave down seemed more useful to me, because I work with a decent amount of rappers in the San Antonio area that sometimes like to use octave down effects on some flows, so that particular feature would be less time consuming for me. All of the reverbs were interesting, and they all sounded a bit better than what I could make with Ableton. The phaser was really cool, and I could totally pair that sound with my Korg Microkorg synth. The delays were very cool, and I particularly enjoyed the long delay, as I could totally see that being used for ambient-shoegazy type stuff. The flanger was really funny, and I could totally see that being used by Thundercat for some reason. Lastly, the rotary was cool, but it would probably be the effect on this pedal that I'd utilize the least. The inclusion of a wet and dry xlr outputs is also really useful and convenient. Overall, this MAW seems to be a cool thing to have in the studio, and I'm very heavily considering buying one for my Indie alt rock band and for my own devices as a producer. The overall review was entertaining, and this is probably the most memorable pedal demo that I've ever seen. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more content, and as a final note, I love the channel name since I really want a Jazzmaster atm.

Emily, I came here from 60CH for the giveaway, and so glad that I did. I love how you demo that vocal pedal, and can’t wait to peruse some of your guitar demos. I currently use two vocal effects pedals-Digitech Performer and Digitech Vocalist Live 2-to add harmonies to my one-man-band performances. They don’t have all the effects of the MAW, but they do add nice harmony effects to my voice.
    Keep up the good work!

Okay first I found this endearing and not annoying.
Second, this is the first time I've seen or heard of a pedal for vocals! Thank you for a step by step through the knobs. Videos that jump into a pedal demo with just turning multiple knobs at once just don't give the depth I would like.
Third, I need this pedal not for singing, but for pranking my mother with the delayed demon voice on the phone.
PS. Favorite Twilight Zone episode would have to be Time Enough to Last where the man who loves reading survives a nuclear bomb only to break his glasses and can't read. (My 7th grade reading teacher showed us that episode in class and stressed how terrible that would be)

Greetings Emily! I just recently (a few months ago) discovered Ryan's channel and I am so tickled he sent me your way! I love your personality! Ryan's giveaway or not, I am subbing and need to start a deep dive into your other videos! I chuckled when you said you were going to make your bassist edit the video... Poor Bass players... They always seem to get crapped on!
Video Summary Comment: I have never used a pedal for vocals and never got to play with one! It was cool to see all the things you can do with it! The Instagram Chipmunk was great! There has to be a goofy way to use it in a song! Same thing goes for the Octave lower! I thought these were all things that had to go into post processing, but today I learned you can do it live! It has been almost 30 years since I was in a band, and we had no money. We never had cool equipment like this to dick around with. Although the subtle phaser can easily be accomplished with a fan. You know we ALL DID THAT! I could see myself using this pedal daily to annoy the family. My 17-year-old daughter is a pain to get out of bed in the morning. This would increase my chances on annoying her to the level that she would run out of her bedroom cursing at me. Well... she is up. I win! She wins the prize of getting to school on time!
"I do not know why I am the way I am... HI MOM!" -Emily 2020 ...immediate topped off afterward with Robot Alien Cyndi Lauper. If this is the quality content you got in your channel, I may need to Join! 13:35 - I may need to ask your permission to use this audio bit and sample it in a song. It sounds like a GREAT intro! "WELCOME TO HELL!"
(Optional To Read) Background Sob Story (Which is 100% True):
When I was a teen, I used to be in a band that was compared to a Punk/Ska They Might Be Giants. I played guitar on my 1993 Peavey Predator (an afford-a-strat candidate for sure!). We did a couple church gigs. Nothing too serious. I loved playing my guitar. It was like therapy to me. No matter what was going on, I could just pick it up and the stress melted away. I became an adult and got a factory job to support my young family and developed carpel tunnel and tendentious due to the repetitive factory work. I was no longer able to play guitar. I could only play for a few minutes before the pain and numbness took over. I sold my trusty old guitar and gave up all hope in ever playing again. Fast forward 20 years and my daughter is 17 and is interested in playing guitar. I have had surgery and therapy on my hands a decade ago. I no longer have any issues! I want to teach her how to play but was unaware of what is out there now for starter guitars. Due to the pandemic, money has not been in excess. This is what led me to 60 Cycle Hum. I did not want to buy a garbage guitar for her, that might discourage her learning. High end guitars cost too much. I was hoping that Ryan could lead me to exactly what we needed. It would be awesome to win a guitar and play again and have my cares melt away side by side with my daughter! If I do not win, I hope it finds a good home! The guitar he is giving away is exactly what I need! Humbucker at the bridge.. and 2 Singles. I may wait for my tax return and get that Yamaha Pacifica no matter what!
If you want to know more about me, check out my channel! The most recent video has my daughter in it. We eat the Diablo Dare Sandwich from Arby's!
My channel is about getting vinyl that has been disregarded, thrown out, neglected, or donated and restoring them and learning about obscure artists.
Thank you for an excuse to ramble and type a really long comment! See you in the next video I watch!

OBNE makes some truly crazy and inspired effects. The MAW is a cool vocal effects pedal that I could see a vocalist having a field day with. Especially the reverb and tremolo. Also I could see my grandkids having a blast with it.

Hi Emily! This is a hilarious review of a pretty cool voice pedal. I like how you improvised it, and had fun while demo-ing all the features. Strangely, it reminded me of my freshman year in college when a guy in my dorm made mushroom tea. It didn't taste very good, but a lot of people there sounded like they were using a pedal like this. Anyway, I came here because of 60CH, but am hanging around to see what's next.

summary? emily tests out a MAW by OBNE and goes through the various settings, discovering that even though this is an all in one pedal for vocalists that you don’t have to be a singer to make it sick as hell. she has now unintentionally made the sound effects for at least 5 avant-garde science fiction films

    60 cycle hum contest entry.
The beginning talking about the controls. Volume, blend, saturation and distortion which sounded cool.
Moving futher in talking about the effects with latching options. The octive up was a bit strange and the octive down also totally reminded me of unsolved mysteries as well.
Moving on the phaser effect was interesting, I could see some uses there. Once we get to the delays and reverbs the pedal really started to shine imo. Just the shear number of combinations is really cool. Im sure her husband finds her antics and weirdness endearing. Rotary effect was a nice addition. Flanger made her sound like an outer space being from beyond the stars. The delays repeating with effects mixed in was my favorite part of the review. The fact that you can add effects in an effects loop like a fuzz is super neat along with the shear number of options. Shout out to Isaac the bass player.

Hey Emily, came for the 60CH giveaway and stayed because your review is hilarious 😂. Ill be honest, I did not know a MAW was a thing but it explains so much In regards to the vocal tones of some of my favorite bands lol. Great video! Love the deep comprehensive review of the features, controls, inputs/outputs and little features like the momentarian latching relay driven switches which is a super nifty add to any pedal. I'll be honest the chipmunk sounds drove me nuts, but the other end of the octave "Buffalo Bob silence of the lambs" type sound was both kind of creepy, and kind of hilarious. I don't really know what applications the phasor would have for vocals but then again, I'm a guitarist not a vocalist so I probably don't see all the implications. Definitely going to have to go check out Old Blood Noise Endeavors after watching this. Hope that's suffices for the entry but even if it doesn't, now that I've discovered you I have to stay subscribed lol. Keep the videos coming! You're really freaking funny!

A fun, yet useful pedal. Let your vocalist / drummer not feel left out because now they can have their own pedal too! Best part, with wet and dry outputs, the board op can feed the FX back to the monitor, while putting the dry line into the main mix. Seriously though, this pedal would be great for a coffee house/night club gig for a soloist with an acoustic guitar fed into house sound system. Great video!

Hi, I’m one of Ryan’s Strat contestants, and a fellow Pacific Nortwester. To say the least, that Old Blood Endeavors MAW needs no psychedelics to be fun: whether I had a dance band or just wanted to goof off with my 6 year old until mom goes madd, that’s loads of fun. The first reverb didn’t quite hit my ears, but the rest of the antics sure had me in places of audio joy worthy of picking up-thank you for your consideration-consideration-consideration-CONsideration-conSIDERATION-CONSIDERATION!

This was a great example of how this pedal functions, the options it provides are great especially the part where you showed the chipmunk voice hahaha! It does make you talk slower ya it’s the same in logic when I’ve done this haha it’s hours of comedy. Haha unsolved mysteries voice needs the theme music haha this def makes me love this and you can blend them!! Haha.
The phaser isn’t on drunk/drugs it’s on Emily 😆 the rate up as you showed was wild and then the twilight zone vibe. My fav twilight zone one was the one where the guy gets his glasses smashed and last man on earth. The reverb is quite spacious and the pre delay as you showed is really can really some creepy sounds like a whisper in the dark.
Rotary high is very alien visiting off kilter warble. Flanger can really do everything like you said haha “hi mom” this also has robot alien mode, I always knew Cindy Was a robot aliens in “time after time” song it explains everything haha. The delay is great and it can go on to infinity wow! What I could do with this for character voices on my channel hahahaaa wow when you had that demonic octave hit in the delays that’s AMAZING!
Multiple reverbs with different textures paired with delays are you said really sounds nice but ya balance the feedback is something to keep in mind. The delay within one of the reverbs almost sounds like dark star dark reverbs. It sounds so fun and appreciate this funny and fun walk through and def putting other pedals through this is an amazing opportunity!! Thank you so much Emily for doing this demo as there are so few demos on this awesome pedal. Weird is good! OBNE does amazing stuff!

Not a vocal guy. I use natural reverb when I sing in the shower until my neighbor at the other side of the wall starts knocking. I don't know if she tries to catch the tempo or just wants me to stop. Anyway, good review and demo. I'm here for the guitar. Good luck!

Great review and demo, and I’m also here for the guitar giveaway. I like the pedal but I’m not sure what I would use it for. Having a voice pedal with mix, an EQ and maybe some form of auto-tune seems useful to me, but octave up and down and phaser, not so much. I did like the reverb and echo though.

60 cycle but I really enjoyed your video Emily. The octave down reminds me of blink 182 live. The reverb and delay were fun. Outside of an astral ambient song, I can't think of a use for the other modulations. I've been wanting to start my vocal gear collection. This is good for finding sounds I enjoy an,d ones that I enjoyed less.

    Summary:
I'm not fully sure what I just watched, I think Jess from New Girl endeavored to review a MAW. It was enjoyable, she made herself sound like Eezma the cat from Emperor's New Grove. She dated herself by making reference to the Twilight Zone. At one point I'm pretty sure she used the phrase, "Dicking around." Which gets bonus points in my book. The video took a pretty dark turn as she introduced the delay effects. We descended through at least five levels of Hell but the devil was surprisingly welcoming and at one point there was an accidental beat that snuck into the delay loop that really slapped. Despite doubts she chose to release the video for our viewing and listening pleasure.

I wonder how this would sound on the front side of that new VOX combo with a vocoder. I like the ability to dial in the desired amount of vocal distortion. I also love the modulation effects for vocals. I think it would be great fir doing some wide sweeping ambient backing vocals underneath a heavy or even funky music track. I’m definitely putting this on my wish list. Thanks for the very unique and genuine demo.

#Entry for the 60 cycle hum Pacifica Guitar giveaway.
Emily review the Micro Audio Workstation.. (MAW)... The MAW has 2 effects channels, each channel has 2 reverbs. Other effects, include: phaser that can be used on voice, drums or other instruments. Additionally, the effects include 2 different types of Chipmunk voice.. (That make the speaker sound like the inhaled 'laughing gas' The MAW has 3 parts, audio, volume, saturation. There is blend that adds distortion. Included is a wet out and dry out...The octave down effect disguises the voice similar to unsolved mysteries. The MAW is possibly useful for songwriters, musicians, video editing and special effects. Not to be missed is the rotary effects. Additionally, two effects can be used at once in a blend fashion. Creativity, with the MAW for any type of audio art, audio performance is probably just a drop in the bucket of the possibilities for Artist that buy the MAW and put the MAW to work. How will you contact the winner? And can you demo your audio setup. The MAW + Tascam + camera; please in another video.

Ryan from 60 cycle hum sent his subscribers over to review Emily's video of the old blood XLR MAW pedal.. The Microphone Audio Workstation! Who knew? I didn't know that so many effects from a voice pedal until at the risk of being annoying she took through the possibilities of this device manufactured on a .secret work bench in the twilight zone. Her voice demo was annoying but on the other hand was endearing. Only now do I realize that little girl lost in the twilight zone wasn't in the 5th dimension after all, but got sucked into a MAW box. You said "moo-guh." It's pronounced MOW-guh, I believe. I suppose I am too late for the 60 Cycle Hum contest? I need to be apprised of these things more consistently. I enjoyed your demo, and I sensed your nervousness, but there is no need for it. You were being your genuine self, and that is acting out of love, and from the heart, and is good. Those who would judge you will be judged. You did a great job, and I can't really think of anything else I would have done differently in a review ... Although, it does appear the input is both XLR and TRS, so it can also be used as a guitar pedal, I assume? Have you tried it this way?
I should add: I heard it said by Mr. Ryan of the 60 Cycle Hum channel that you are both a guitarist and some manner of writer? I am as well. I am a professional editor, transcriptionist, and author. How many are there among us? I can tell by your use of language that you are indeed a writer. Unfortunately, I have yet to really get into the Twilight Zone. Not because I'm averse to it -- not by any maens -- but because I've only ever seen a few episodes here and there in my youth, but it has been something on my list for a while now to watch with my dad. So perhaps because of your video now I will prioritize this.

A summary: A guitarist desperately avoids singing as she demonstrates a vocal pedal, but doesn’t avoid being charming and funny.
    Includes also:
    - an astounding ability to carry on a cogent sentence despite being blasted in the ears with your own demonic chipmunk/anonymous victim voice
    - a suspicious affirmation of sobriety
    - A review of “Little Girl Lost” that is as scathing as it is psychedelic.
    - A demo of the pre-delay parameters delivered through an inscrutable time-vortex
    - a demonstration of a rotary effect that sounds just like when you would shout into an electric fan as a kid
    - a brief existential crisis, shout-out to mom
    - a pleasant greeting from Satan himself
    - an insightful set of final thoughts, exploring the creative potential of the MAW
Came for 60CH’s contest, stayed for the entertaining descent into microphonic madness

Emily, I thought you demo of the microphone audio workstation was great.
I appreciate your singing during through the saturation section of the pedal, even though you're not a singer. Very brave.
    The "A" effects:
Octave up - totally annoying instagram voice, do not want.
Octave down - very cool anonymous informant voice, do want.
Blend of both - did I mention that you're so brave for doing this?
Phaser - very cool. And brave.
    Short delay - also cool.
Reverb - makes everybody sound better.
    The "B" effects:
Rotary - sounds okay. You like it better than phaser, we'll just agree to disagree.
Flanger - sounds good. And the courage it must take...
    Long delay - so ... so ... so ... very ... very ... very ... brave ... brave ... brave ...
    Last reverb - pretty cool

The video is an enjoyable presentation of Emily's Greatest Hits, however, the songs needed more hooks. Except for "Time After Time", which was better than the original.
Despite the claims of the host to be neither drunk nor high, I'm not sure that's entirely the case. She says she has a podcast, but I suspect it might be a pot-cast. Ba-dum-tss!
At 7:54 I've started to realise she may have been in quarantine for way too long. Oh wait, this was pre-COVID? Maybe solitary confinement then?
The delay and reverb effects made me feel like I was watching some indie art movie about being lost inside a labyrinth in Emily's head, hopelessly searching for a way out... out... out... out... hello?... ello?... lo?... oh?...
Bottom line: if you have multiple personalities but have trouble expressing them in different voices, this is the pedal for you. Now you can sound like a chipmunk. Or a demon. Or a demon chipmunk.
