You have been an absolute Hypebeast for Margaret, and she lived up to it. I don't think anyone has a good experience when they first learn to cath, even if ultimately improves quality of life. I think this type of video would be invaluable to anyone dealing with a new normal. There is a huge difference watching someone that has adjusted and shows it's not a big deal, compared to an RN providing instruction or a pamphlet and stating the same. Seriously great job.
The Disney bottle holder made me laugh. I bet Disney never had that use for the bottle holder cross their minds when they made it. lol Great way to make use of it.Thank you for the great info Margaret. I don't have to use cathaters currently but it's a very real possibility in future. I appreciate the information so much. It gives me an idea of what I may need to do in the future. I'm losing use of my legs and already lost use of my left (dominant)hand a long time ago. So this is helpful. Thank you to Brittney for another great video!
I give you 2 all the credit in the world. Love your videos. I'm sure these videos help countless numbers of people deal with certain issues that could be really difficult for them.
I’m having some health issues with my joints, but we had a family trip planned for New York City. This ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxuxJwamLFanm476LC5WPeTouyyU1GXomC was perfect! It’s lightweight enough that my friend could carry it up or down stairs when we needed to. (I can walk very short distances) It was comfortable for me to sit in, I would say if you’re super tall it might be a little cramped. I’m 5’1” and the foot rests were the perfect height. This may not be the best one for long term use, you get what you pay for, but for something that fits our budget that gives me accessibility while we deal with my health this was amazing.
I speak for no one but I believe your videos must be incredibly helpful to the curious, yes, but also those who find themselves in need of tutorials for what ever reason. Be it for themselves or a loved one. Thank you for your good work.
Thanks a bunch! super helpful stuff you're sharing. I'm a t-8 para 26 yrs post inj. Dealing with a Syrinx now, so I have lost most of the funcion in my left hand. Getting the surgery for it at ucsf. I'm helped n encouraged by your videos. Learning to use my left hand (I'm a lefty too) is frustrating. I liked the Quad Paws VS pants vid and like the idea of having a "patienc gas tank" that refills when you take a breather. Learning everything I can about Syringomyeilia these days. I Wish there was more info available. R

Wow I never realized how much you deal with just to pee! my biggest concern is finding a spot where no one is watching if I’m in the field:)) ThankYou for the info!
You know the crotch opening goung horizontally would be good for women runners, hunters, hikers who use the funnels to pee on the trail and not always ve having to drop trow. Also for women cops and security officers who have gun belts that you don't want to be having to take all the belt gear off all the time. You guys are great!
yeah I think it has lots of applications lol. Funnily enough when I ask for that part of my pants to be modified they never look sideways so maybe it's more common than we think!
@@EmpoweredPara There used to be a company that made uniform pants like that for women in law enforcement and security, but it was a small family business. I don't know if they're still around.
@@EmpoweredPara Here's your laugh for today. I worked security but here's a story I can relate to. A woman cop goes in to use the restroom. Getting the Sam belt on and off is a pain. First you have to take off and not lose "keepers." These are leather strips with snaps that loop around your regular belt to hold the Sam belt securely in place. Between holster, gun, extra ammo magazines, handcuffs, sometimes a tazer, and a baton, there's a lot of weight. Putting it back on isn't like a light weight regular belt. Usually it's grab one end and then put some momentum in it to swing it around your waist and quick grab the other end and hook it. So she's done her business and she goes for the swing and the gun accidentally hits the ceramic toilet bowl. Ceramics are a funny thing. Hit them just right, even lightly, and they shatter. It did.The entire toilet bowel cme apart, flooding the bathroom. Now the poor woman is into call the supervisor territory. When the story got to me I died laughing like everyone else.
I have been modifying my husbands pants so he can use the urinal while seated. I would cut further past thezipper to the crotch seam. But it was still hard to add closures. I love the idea of using the leg inseam! Brilliant!
@@convon712 I tried that but then his pants would be loose and fall down 😂. It didn’t look very good in public either. I like this idea of using the existing seam.
I have four cases of 14 french female straight catheters that my late wife used before she passed away. Can either of you use these? I hate to throw them in the trash.

Pardon my ignorance, but I never knew that "quad" could have so much arm function and still be considered a "quad". Aside from that, I find these vids absolutely fascinating and informative. As for the parents who hustled their kids away, fuuuuuuck them. And then their kids will pass on that squeamish behavior to their kids as well. Parents need to face the uncomfortable and survive it in order to demonstrate those qualities to their kids. As a child, I would have been fascinated to watch this.
Is there some way to convert the wheelchair to a compost toilet that will trap the waste till you have time to empty it without the need of a Catheter. You coiuld slide your pants down to go and a container could slide out between your legs to empty ??? Just thinking out loud !
10:20 I think if I was a woman, I'd stay on the type of birth control that suspend your period so I could go commando all year round. I've read periods aren't necessary for health. I kinda got lucky, I'm a T-12 I had a serious UTI and kidney stone that got pushed back up into my prostate tube thingy by cathing and after that my bladder became spastic so now I just use a condom catheter, no more Intermittent Cathing. I nearly died but hey, no more cathing, Yay!
I'm a guy and I have no idea how you would handle that but you do this every time you gotta go? Coming from a guy, sometimes I just gotta go now!!!!! What do you do in a case like that? Could you not just go behind a tree, so to speak, and pee in a bottle?
You are peeing in your car, bed, chair, etc, wherever you happen to be. My concern is how sanitary is your catheter during such times. You are pushing, dust, dirt, bacteria, all the filthy things into your urethra, you will be getting UTI all year. You are doing intermittent catheter about 7-8 times a day, I can’t imagine the amount of damage, wear and tear on your urethra, opening your bladder sphincter all day, to remain open, causing leaks and other stuff. Even if you don’t feel the pain on your bladder, sphincter, urethra the damages is tremendous and the pain is there. How do you prevent pressure sores on your backside?
