  • This linewinder and floatline is quite popular for spearfishing in the UK. This is how I set up the gear for shore spearfishing.
    The equipment was brought from the spearfishing store. It is really cheap and simple (great for beginners) , there are many better alternatives out there but this does the job.

    Quick maybe silly question, will this unwind automatically? ie if you put the float in the water will the line winder unwind if moving a bit? logically it wouldnt, but wondering if it does,

    • @ryane8881
      @ryane8881  6 днів тому

      @@rudabb69 it can unwind if there’s tension on the line and waves moving the float. You can tie the line off though so there’s a set amount of line out and won’t unravel anymore

      @@ryane8881 Great. I will test it off the jetski. the idea is to stay as compact as possible and deploy in the water as you stop the jetski and its still moving forward

    Very useful video mate, I never knew how to use this line winder. Also the line that you are using, is that strong/dyneema? I have the same one that I got with my buoy and I have not used it yet.

      @@ryane8881 may be the combination with pvc tubing supposedly increases the strength of the overall rope. I wonder how big of a fish will it be able to hold if we set it up like that using this rope that comes with the float

    I will go an try and rig mine this way. I use a stiff and thick floatline, but I hope it will work. The way I been setting it up is dumb as F XD
    I might have to modify a bit from your way, but it will be simelar.
    Why do you take the end that goes to the float trough both holes and not just the one?

    • @ryane8881
      @ryane8881  2 роки тому

      You can just thread it through one hole if you want, no special reason why I did it that way just how I did it.

    Hi Ryan
    Been enjoying your videos for a while.
    Ive just got myself some cressi fins, mask and snorkel as initially i simply want to dive and forage as opposed to spearfish.
    I've bought a 30 mtr reflective float line,surface marker and stash bag,but where would you suggest i fix the end of the line to please? as i obviously wont have a spear gun.
    Many regards chap

    • @ryane8881
      @ryane8881  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Karl!
      When foraging in the past I used a mini anchor/weight on the end of the line and dropped anchor to fix the SMB in place, then dive around it. It was great to have both hands free.
      Another option could be to fix the line to your belt or a lanyard on your wrist. It's easier to drift over large areas but more dangerous if the line gets caught on rocks as it may stop you getting back to the surface.
      Either way will probably take some getting used to but good luck!
