Hi. I am a South Asian and my face looks beautiful when I perm my hair but very plain when it's silky straight (birth hair). Is there an explanation for this considering my face is the same in both the cases but more attractive with perms than with straight hair.
lala I have acne-prone combination skin, and I used to break out in both the dry and oily areas, what Helped me was using kojic acid soap 3 to 4 times a week, the ordinary niacinamide for acne and the ordinary alpha arbutin for scars and never used the two in the same day also went vegan(cutting out dairy really helped)and I don’t use soap when I wash my face in the morning..only at night
x Z I just apply it as a serum on my problem areas, I don’t wash it. both the niacinamide and alpha arbutin treated my hyperpigmentation, for pores I use niacinamide
On the topic of paleness being seen as unattractive, I think that that particular study would yield a different result if performed with Asian volunteers. Since it is more attractive in that culture to be pale, I think they would prefer the paler version of the individual over the version on the left. However, I wonder if they would still choose the pale person over the not-pale person if they had an uneven skin-tone. 🤔
Good point! I personally found the pale version better, maybe because I have grown up in a culture that prefers pale skin over tanned one. So definitely there is a cultural aspect behind that as well.
I'm Eastern European and I only find fair pale skin to be pretty. Beidge and brown skin is extremply common so it don't have that wow factor like pale skin individuals have.
Asian here, I think it is not just paleness but "healthiness" of skin is taken into consideration. You can have pale skin but it still be unattractive if it has gray or blue-ish undertones. The perfect skin is usually "newborn baby skin" - clean, smooth and a little bit pink.
Accutane was absolutely the heaviest hitter when it came to 'curing' my extreme acne vulgaris, but to this day, a wholefood plant-based diet and sun protection has kept my acne in check. Truth is, acne never ends, it just gets less intense.
My acne ended. I have the nicest skin now. What really helped was a comprehensive skin care routine, and especially AHA and BHA exfoliation and nyacinamide.
SAME. I have really bad bacne, mild chest acne and quite recently broke out badly all over my face. If it's any consolation, in my experience I've found that although I was perceived to be more attractive without the acne, as long as I was not bitter/insecure or overly focused about it, most people overlooked my acne quite fast. I didn't date for a whole year because of my acne but when I did start dating again, turns out, my insecurity was pretty much all in my head. Basically my point is although good skin is more attractive, the most important thing when it comes to attraction, no matter what is still personality.
Try finding a facial cream that has a nice, smooth and thick consistency, and lather your face in it. Huge amounts. Let it sit and then wipe the excess off. Try cutting out milk products for a while. If that doesn't work try getting om the Keto diet. Also sleep with clean sheets and pillowcase. Those things have worked for me :) I wish you all the best! Edit: the key is to never have dry skin. Avoid water and always moisturise.
I'd love an episode on beauty marks like moles, freckles, birthmarks, etc. I'm covered in freckles and it would be interesting to see if marks like freckles and other similar ones are viewed in a similar manner as acne.
When I was a little girl, my family would call my mole "حسونة" ("hess-soon-neh") which is babytalk for "beautiful thing" (like beauty mark.) Even at the time, I never understood it.

I was on accutane not once but twice, was left with scarring from my acne, and just had my 2nd fractional co2 laser treatment done last week. Seeing as how acne is recognized as a skin disease and impacts depression, I really feel like its treatments, including things like surgery, shouldn’t be considered “cosmetic” and should be covered by insurance. Having severe acne is painful inside and out.
To anyone thinking about going on acutane: I went on acutane after not responding to antibiotics for my acne. My dermatologist had warned me about the known side effects that could damage my kidneys which was tested for with monthly blood samples. Before starting this medication I was a happy and healthy high school basketball player. I had to stop taking acutane after one month because I had developed such severe depression that I didn't want to go to school, play sports, or hang out with my friends anymore. While I did not suffer from any of the physical side effects, it took me a couple months to be able to bounce back from what this medication did to me mentally. Another girl I knew went on the same medication and suffered from depression and could not finish the medication. This is anecdotal and the study referenced in this video shows no correlation between acutane and depression, however from my own personal experience I would argue that if you are prone to depression (had it in the past, runs in the family, etc.), avoid this medication. While my skin had mostly cleared up from severe cystic acne after just one month, I would say that had I finished the whole six month treatment I may not have even graduated from high school. Bottom line: Closely monitor your mental wellness while taking this drug.
To the acne sufferers coming to the comments for answers/experiences.... firstly, you’re still beautiful and worthy. Secondly, it’s very likely your skin’s protective/moisture barrier is disrupted by the multitude of topical treatments and over cleansing... as instructed by many estheticians, give your skin a break and only wash with a cleanser/layers of routine at night. In the morning, rinse thoroughly with some cool water and moisturize. On days when you’re getting a little extra sweaty/oily, use a micellar (spelling) water. Give you skin a chance to balance it’s self out. As someone who deals with adult acne and has done EVERYTHING under the sun only to see results by following these instructions , I need you to trust me on this. Even look into it, here on UA-cam.
Honestly, this made me feel like shit. Ofc it’s my own fault that I watched this. But no, sometimes acne is not that easy to treat. And yes I was on accutane for 10 months and my acne started coming back after about 1 year. Also it just dries your Skin out, so there won’t be any new breakouts basically but that means it only fights the symptoms and not the actual cause of the acne (eg hormonal imbalance etc) Also one side effect that isn’t mentioned is that it can cause birth defects like...what?
Just chiming in, I completely agree with you. To me this line of reasoning is very toxic, first, you will be attractive no matter what, most people I have ever found to be good, decent and attractive were not blessed by great skin, great facial features or non-reclining hairline. I dont give a damn about that, even if this line of videos are very 'face on' driven and claim its the gate to people. Beyond the surface is not. I am not telling you because its cheesy, but because its true and I came to actually realise (25 now), that caring about these things in regards to self consciousness will get you no where else but more self conscious. You are beautiful. And you are, in any state, worthy of being loved. And if someone cares about what's on your face and judges you because of it, they should check in with their worldview, and not you. Of course you should take care of your body, but please don't stress about this when it comes to acne. If it is hormonal imbalance, of course check in with your doctor to get help because that messes not only with your skin but your body. Don't do it for others. It gets easier over the years to not care. And you will attract the people that are actually into you, I promise, regardless of acne, blemishes or whatnot. All the best!
molecule_hon yeah I agree and I don’t think having acne is necessarily a sign of unhealthy skin .. acne is completely normal and it’s impossible to never have it.. I’m using differin it’s a retinoid it can cause your skin to purge basically it speeds up your skin cell turn over and brings the pimples to the surface faster that doesn’t mean I have unhealthy skin lol I follow a simple skin care routine and I eat a very balanced diet my skin is just like this 🤷🏻♀️
I've struggled with acne for years trying to treat it with whatever drug store products I could find. BIG FUCKING MISTAKE. I only damaged my skin more, my self esteem was crushed and i was so depressed I constantly thought about ending myself. But then I finally made a damn appointment with a dermatologist, started taking Sotret(essentially accutane) and even tho all the products and medications were pretty expensive( at least for my budget) it was worth it. I have a few scars but my skin is now clean and I couldn't be happier about it. I remember covering my face with my hair as to hide and it was so depressing walking everywhere feeling ugly and disgusting... I hated high school
@@shockingblue8069 maybe if I would've stuck to one product and treated my face gently it would've helped but I was desperately trying everything. I was popping my pimples, using DIY face masks that would dry my face leading to increased oil production hence more acne, I would try to cover them with makeup and it put me in such a depressing stressful state that the stress alone was causing me acne ... I was caught in a vicious cycle that fed on itself. After all that I've come to a few realisations: do not under any circumstances pop your pimples, wash your face gently twice a day, moisturize always, drink lots of water and sleep well, wash your pillow case and face towel often, double down on processed food sugar and dairy ,use solar protection and very important: treat your skin gently and avoid touching it. This is the ultimate recipe for baby smooth skin. It doesn't cost you anything more than a cleanser, moisturiser, a SPF cream and most importantly: discipline If you do all that and you still have bad acne it's time to contact a dermatologist.... I wish I knew all these before. I wasted a lot of money with the dermatologist because I unknowingly mistreated my skin for so long
I suffered from mild acne since I was 12 years old, with antibiotics and topic treatments, and they hold my situation for a while. But my skin was still very oily and I think I failed to treat that. So at 15 I had a larger breakout and Accutane was my "savior". I started eating healthier, more vegetables and natural foods, reduced milk (nowadays I stopped and noticed my skin healthier) and started using facial soaps/sunscreen. I think Acne, as a lot of other diseases, is very correlated with the health of our immune system, and this is influenced by eating habits and psychological factors. I wish I knew more back then, because is a sad disease and hits you at a vulnerable age. Fortunately today my skin is healthy and I pretend to transition to natural cosmetology, treating it only with natural ingredients, like vegetable and essential oils.
@@armoredcolossaltitan7353 not sure, but in my case I grew a lot between 11 ~ 14 yo, so when I started taking the medicine at 15 yo my height was pretty much the same as today with 24... But I never heard of this side effect, seems pretty bad especially for young teenagers.
I always find it so hypocritical when people tell other with acne that their skin is beautiful. No it's not. And most importantly, we shouldn't base our value as people on being beautiful.
Please don't suggest a seemingly universal treatment for acne. Maybe a lot of people have bacterial acne, but I have fungal acne. 90% of products on the shelves will break me out, and it doesn't respond to bacterial acne treatments. A lot of people from warm humid climate have fungal acne aswell. Just a little reminder that we all need specific treatments for our specific acne types

He covered that topic in multiple videos, there's not that much to know man. Getting to around 10% bodyfat is the absolute best for facial aesthetics and makes your jawline pop. However, even for bodybuilders getting to 10% is hard. 15% will do you fine as well.
I could not believe how much my confidence shot up and how many people noticed when my accutane started working and my acne cleared up. Acne really does impact your mental health
I suffered from horrific acne in my teenage years, but have almost no scarring from it. However, i've seen others with less severe acne but deep scars. Any idea why this is the case?
In summer 2018 I had horrible acne (it looked so crunchy) and my hair was so fried and fucked, but you know what? I was the happiest then and people didn’t even notice the fucked stuff bc they noticed that I was v happy. So moral of the story is that happiness is the best beauty asset to have. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk
My biggest crush in middle school/ lil bit in high school had acne all over his face, to the point where my friends said he looked like a pepperoni face. But, despite the acne, he still had an attractive face, and the way he carried himself and the people he hung out with over all made him attractive. He even had braces and I rocked with it. And I'm fr when I say he was attractive because of them/with them!
Acne and hyperpigmentation caused me to put my life on hold and cling onto things that brought me comfort and control. I tried so many products, changed my diet, and lifestyle multiple times... but nothing fully tamed my skin until I went to a demonologist at 18. It's been 2 years since I have been using what the dermatologist prescribed after just over half a decade of puss, blood, scabs, sweat and tears whilst battling but my skin, and I've made peace with my face as it's pretty much back to it's smooth, glowy self (I still breakout once a month in preparation for my cycle) worlds away from what it was. We can be way too critical of ourselves. I still struggle with my self esteem, cause life doesn't become perfect once you attain a specific look, desire doesn't just die like that! and there are other things we got to take care of! If you are currently struggling with your skin don't give up and don't let it get in the way of becoming successful, do what you wanna do. You deserve it. Don't just limit yourself on the basis of feeling unattractive, there's more to life and sadly when I was in the height of my frustration with my blemishes, I forgot that.
Yes this 100%!! Acne can be hormonal too which is often SO hard to manage. It takes time and patience and often lots of trial and error with medication and products. Most people with acne are often trying actively to manage and treat it. It usually has nothing to do with diet and cleanliness. If it was that easy then everyone would have perfectly clear skin :(
I was on accutane for 6 months when i was 16, and i can say that it 100% helped my acne and i havent had any huge breakouts since. i feel like my self esteem and overall quality of life better now that i dont obsess and think about my skin 24/7. however i started having panic attack episodes toward the end of my course and those persisted until i had to go on antidepressants at 17. im not sure if thats linked to accutane, but it would make a lot of sense.
Wow the exact same experience as me at 16. I still have some slight scarring and small white marks. My self esteem increased a little but is now soo good after I lost like 60kgs. I was stressing towards end of my studies at 23 and I had like 3 big pimples but went away afterwards naturally.
I took accutane for almost a year and it really helped me, I can’t vouch for it enough. My acne was very bad, I had many painful cycts which caused scarring. My face isn’t perfect now, but I just look like a normal teen. Don’t hurt your face or yourself over acne, go see a dermatologist!
@@Kpree-_- It's the best it's ever been, better than when I originally posted this comment. I'm on my final month now, cause I went on for quite a while:)
Damn I love this channel so much, I’m always finding and reading upon different subjects and this is just something to add onto my infinite study of education💕
i took roaccutane and had no depressive symptoms at all. about a year in i was severely depressed and had suicidal thoughts. got off them at that point and that all went away within a month. anecdotal but the truth
this is so incredibly cool. i’m taking immunology right now and we are learning about the immune response pathogens in detail, and in evolutionary psychology we learned about how women tend to have higher pathogen disgust on average.... finally, school comes in handy hahah!
it took me a while to realize my real issue was hyperpigmentation, not being dark. i used to hate my dark skin and wanted to have light skin when i was younger and would sit in bleach baths (literal cleaning bleach, not the bleach used to whiten skin) and used steel scrubbing pads on my body which left me with scars
I have good skin but I I can definitely agree that if it weren’t for that wouldn’t be attractive, I admire people who look good with blemishes so much (Not good genetics just extensive skincare routine)
this is so well researched! you’ve made some great skincare points here! i like when you touched on not cleansing too obsessively and using retinol (tret) to treat it.
But tell me why, at the beginning of the video when there were two male faces- the ‘pale’ and the ‘healthy’- I instantly found the ‘unattractive’ one more appealing? Guess it’s all about personal preferences
I used accutane and i have to tell you that after i ended my circle my acne came back after 4 months but this time it was way weaker. My opinion is go for it, i personally can control my acne easier now and with the help of peeling substances I have very good results.
I was on accutane and I agree that when I started I was already at a low mental state. And I also had the same experience with getting dry skin, except I had eczema creams to use alongside it.
Hey I saw you didn't mention spironolactone as an option for acne sufferers, Its what I took that finally cleared up my skin. It isn't technically an acne medication (which is probably why you didn't mention it), it's a high blood pressure that can block hormones from binding to oil glands and prevents stimulation of oil production, which can lead to pimples. It saved my live and its way less invasive than Accutane for the moderate sufferers of acne!!!!! It can also only be used by people who were born biologically female due to the fact that it could inhibit testosterone production in men.
In my personal experience seeing a dermatologist changed my life. I was trying everything in the drug store with little improvement for years before seeing a dermatologist. Saw her and got finacea , retonin and hydroqinonie. Face looked horrible for 3 months during “purge” since then has cleared up and my skin is now even
I’ve had acne for about 3 years now, and I have tried so so so many cleansers, moisturizers, spot treatments, and other products in that span of time. None of them really worked. However, I finally went to the dermatologist a month ago, was prescribed some products, and my skin has improved so much! I understand that it’s expensive in some countries, but compared to the amount of money put into buying a whole bunch of skin care products that only sort-of work, going to a dermatologist is probably the better choice. Even though I have some acne scarring, I feel so much more confident without makeup.
FOOD Food have very big effect on the skin. Sugar, wheat, coffee, milk and milk products.- before you start some medication try to stay away form those for 4 weeks and see the results. Too many of my female friends had very bad skin problems until they removed sugar and milk from their diets.
as someone who is obese, deals with hormonal, cystic acne, and is a teenager, yes, it has a HUGE impact on the way people treat you. my skin looks tired? in a way from the way i eat (i’m working on it). i get a lot of acne on my jaw and down my neck. it’s like people don’t even want to look at you because of how disgusting they find acne. my hormones have leveled themselves out now so i don’t get it as much but it definitely dented my confidence for a long while.
I'm on accutane right now and it's been a miracle drug for me. My lips are cracked and horrible but my body acne is completely gone, and my face actually feels smooth to the touch.
Right now I am being 100% honest with you guys, having acne definitely makes you less attractive by alot in my experience. I always been a good looking guy but when I had bad acne the pimples covered my whole face to a point where my strong jawline was almost invisible. Yeah I know it's common to have acne at some point but it definitely makes your appearance bad and you can get depressed. To this day I get some pimples here and there, cremes and cleansers are just basics but not gamechangers, the root cause is inflammation in your body which is caused my a bad nutrition to keep it simple. Sugar is really bad for your skin, dairy products is fine for most people but it really depends on what your body likes and what not. My acne almost cleared up completely when I changed my diet, alot of water, less sugar, zinc, omega 3 and vitamin d3 supplements every day. Those where gamechangers I can tell you, consuming vitamins and minerals that boost your immune system is the best you can do. Some people are lucky and can eat what they want and still have perfect skin, their body is just awesome at processing all kinds of food(good metabolism). As soon as a eat more sugar and drink less water I immediately get pimples. You are what you eat, your skin is a good indicator on you inner health.
Truth, truth and truth. Go see your dermatologists and look into medication for your acne. You'll have to do a blood test which could also discover diseases you weren't aware of that cause your acne. I've been on Acutane-type pills for 4 months now and it's been such a weight off my shoulders not having breakouts.
Accutane was the best thing I've ever done. Not only did it clear my skin, but ut shrunk my nose, and defined my face. I wish there was more research done into this positive side effect of the drug.
I took Isotretinoin as a teen when I had moderate to severe acne, and I would do it again. I had almost immediate results! My skin was BEAUTIFUL after I was done taking it. I had no side effects other than typical dry skin. My acne did come back mildly about a year later. Now I manage it, and it doesn’t really bother me. Acne doesn’t make you worth any less. I know you feel less attractive, but you’re wrong! If you have attractive features (physical and personality), you are attractive even with acne!
5:54 This is exactly what is happening in those obsessive people with their skin's obsessive's process to cleansing. I prefer a thousand times a skin with some wrinkles in the eyes, smile caused by the smiles and laughs. Some marks or signs in the skin that boring robotic glass skin some people goes for it.
I wish this video would also include the topic of eczema. Many people suffer from it and takes a toll on one's mental health as well (I don't intend to compare the suffering from acne and from eczema - both is in a wide spectrum and can literally result in pain). Regarding acne scars: Personally I don't think of them as a no-no (and I have pretty clear and smooth skin). I've seen plenty of attractive people with acne scars. I value good looking skin (i.e. a healthy complexion, bouncy texture, not too greasy or too dry) but I was never bothered by acne scars. I just wanted to point this out.
Although to many people skin bleaching looks unnatural, because it is, i think it’s important to include the affects of global white supremacy and the social pressure of European beauty standards that many black and brown people experience that lead them to things like skin bleaching. We have an internalized idea that white/light skin is more beautiful, and live in a system where people who are light in complexion are often rewarded for the way that they look regardless of how an individual(s) might perceive them. And yes, even if you have acne or other dermatological issues, the question of your humanity based on your race is not tested if you are not black or brown. Not only that but specific European features like a thin nose, light colored eyes etc. Are also the standard even though we live in an era where most people look to being ethnically ambiguous as beautiful, but I believe that Is to distract from the fact these things are still very dominant issues in our society. As you say in your video there was only one study included black people. So there is much to explore and unload on that aspect of things. Skin and beauty is an extremely loaded topic but I’m glad you had the courage to at least graze over it a bit.
I love my clear and smooth skin! Ive always been complimented a lot on my skin by friends and guys i never wear foundation make up. Smiled watching this video 😊❤
People, tips for a healthier skin/clearing acne(this is ensure like a okayish skin, not completely clear but better than before) *THIS IS NOT A SHORTCUT, THERE IS NO SHORTCUT* 1. Your food: Try removing things from your diet such as animal meat, dairy, egg, sugar. You dont have to do it all at once. Try one by one. Many people are simply lactose intolerant and dont realise it. My cystic acne changed to normal acne when I stopped eating meat or fish. And drink water. Lots of it. 2. Your mental blocks: THIS IS IMPOORRTANT. YOUR SKIN IS BASICALLY A RELFECTION OF YOUR MENTAL BLOCKS. ITS TRYING TO TELL YOU STH. Try figuring out whether you think you're not free or sth like you think itll be never cured and then combat that thought with positivity. And stop caring about your skin. Stop thinking about it so much. 3.A skincare routine: find out your skin type and do a routine religiously. Dont go on the price of moisturizer, costlier doesnt mean better. If you're in a region where you get cerave and ordinary, try using it. 4. Make sure to solve dandruff: Use an anti-dandruff shampoo or flax seed or anything else that helps. 5. STICK TO THE ROUTINE. BE DISCIPLINED. it will take around a month to see results. And dont pick your acne or put toothpaste on it. DONT. I know you have school or work tom and you dont want it but leave it be. Its difficult but you can do it. And that's how you cure acne. :). But remember, it doesnt define you. I know people keep talking about it and it feels absolutely horrible. It eats up your confidence and makes you wanna stay home all day. But you're actually really really pretty. Others dont actually notice it that much. I never noticed anyone else acne much, I only cared about mine. Its prolly same for others.
I actually agree with everything you said in this video. Also, Lightening your skin is not what will not make you beautiful or handsome especially if it does match your features. I see a lot of Africans in the area I live who have bleached their skin and it looks weird because it doesn't match their features.
I just want to add that acne can also be treated by topical retin-A, topical antibiotics, topical benzoyl peroxide, topical sulphur cream, or a drug called spironolactone (if you're female) and not just systemic antibiotics for people who don't want to blast their whole bodies with antibiotics. There's lots of options out there and even some family doctors may be able to prescribe these medications, not just derms.
Please anyone who reads this , take this video seriously, i had fungal acne and had VERY low self steem but i NEVER thought it came from my skin, i thought they came from my features, y wanted to do my nose lips, etc. but thanks to skincareadiction reddit and deciem group on facebook i started to get more interested in skincare and now that i have clear skin without fungal acne and blemishes my self steem is very high and i'm very confident and also that's the most important thing. How you see yourself is how others will see you.
It's very sad that there are still people put there that think severe acne is from not washing your face. Also, I find it interesting that freckles are thought of as cute when they are also a facial marking that covers your face in spots. It's just interesting what society picks as cute and what they pick as "gross" and something that needs to be fixed asap.
I take accutane and it has really helped my skin but also it has been super intense. No oil production= cracked lips. My nose has been bleeding every day for 4 months and when I first started it my skin got so much worse. Luckily, my skin is better now :) I would recommend it for people with moderate to severe acne but like I said it’s really intense and isn’t the best option for everyone. By the way: if you are a female or have a uterus, you have to take a pregnancy test every month and have 2 forms of birth control or abstinence. Isotretinoin can cause really horrible birth defects and it’s scary to look at pictures when you watch the accutane video guide :
personally i did alot of research on skin care on skin care science...n i mean A LOT OF RESEARCH. from studies n ppl that know what they are saying. i keep my skin care routine minimal but i choose the right products to fix any issues i have. i keep it gentle n i choose products w good ingredients. so far my skin got wayyyyyyy better n its even glowing a lil im v happy :)
I like this video. Very informative. I wish my experience with isotretinoin would've been like that. The doctors use to say I'll have a smooth skin and so does my friends... However after more than a year I can't see the end of it. I have a very stubborn cystic acne. It makes my skin texture bad. I can't even treat my scars because I still have active acne. The dermatologic doctors don't seem to even try and help find other solutions. I do my Google researchers and they dismissed it without a proper explanation. All on my own I won't give up
Teach this in high schools! I have basically whole my 20s bad skin with acne and PIE blemishes. Self-esteem and respect never raised above negative values, not to mention societal relationships. Its so alienating when even with mild acne people keep you on arms distance, while no one else even has a hint of acne problems (or hides it as women do with makeup) which makes one feel like hes plague victim.
I have had a really positive experience using the birth control Yaz to control my cystic acne and I think it’s an option worth discussing with your doctor. Not for everyone but worked for me!
acne isn't always a treatable condition, and it may come back once it's gone. even hormonal acne in guys can be inherited and many people are genetically disposed to having acne well into their adulthood. people do treat people with acne differently, and you're less likely to receive proper service at restaurants as your age is assumed to be smaller than it actually is.
Tried benzoyl peroxide, AHA, BHA, azelaic acid, and retinol, and it didn't nothing to my acne. The only thing that work for my acne is TRETINOIN, it is very good on acne and also known as the "Gold Standard of Aging" . For more info, you should visit the subreddit /r/tretinoin and set it to Top > All time than Hot, so that you'll see the results of other people in there. It may not work on some of people but give it a try. If you're planning to use it, please research it before using it because there are do's and dont's. There is where /r/tretinoin and google will be helpful. tretinoin is different from isotretinoin because it's a topical cream sorry for bad grammar
I had persistent adult acne. Then I started spironolactone and in about a year had PERFECT skin. It was all hormonal and no creams were going to fix it. EVERYONE commented on my skin clearing up. And my confidence went way up. I didn’t realize how much impact acne had on me until it was gone. PCOS / hormonal acne? Spironolactone WORKS. It takes months though.

@@oldaccxunt Do you know what channel this is?
Good point! I personally found the pale version better, maybe because I have grown up in a culture that prefers pale skin over tanned one. So definitely there is a cultural aspect behind that as well.
He’s already made videos on cultural beauty and talked about this topic
Please don’t tell me that 😢
This made me sad :(
My acne ended. I have the nicest skin now. What really helped was a comprehensive skin care routine, and especially AHA and BHA exfoliation and nyacinamide.
What are your vitamin D levels? Being low on that makes everything worse, skin health included

Unicorn Battleaxe Thanks! I struggle with low self esteem and it was good to heard that!
Anne thank you! You’re right
I always noticed this and this is why I want clear skin. I just want to look and feel good without makeup.

To anyone thinking about going on acutane:
I went on acutane after not responding to antibiotics for my acne.

*screams in adult acne*
Hey please don't give up, you're beautiful just the way you are
H. P. Thank you so much 🥺that made me feel so much better. I’ve struggled with my skin since I was 13 and now I’m 22... I’m so tired of this.
All the best!
molecule_hon 💕thank you for those encouraging words
molecule_hon yeah I agree and I don’t think having acne is necessarily a sign of unhealthy skin .. acne is completely normal and it’s impossible to never have it..
Big mistake trying drugstore products, most of them suck :(
@@shockingblue8069 maybe if I would've stuck to one product and treated my face gently it would've helped but I was desperately trying everything.
It doesn't cost you anything more than a cleanser, moisturiser, a SPF cream and most importantly: discipline
If you do all that and you still have bad acne it's time to contact a dermatologist....

Did you grow taller ever since? I heard it stunted growth

And I also had the same experience with getting dry skin, except I had eczema creams to use alongside it.
you're BAck! congrats on getting your channel back
Hey I saw you didn't mention spironolactone as an option for acne sufferers, Its what I took that finally cleared up my skin.
Too many of my female friends had very bad skin problems until they removed sugar and milk from their diets.
as someone who is obese, deals with hormonal, cystic acne, and is a teenager, yes, it has a HUGE impact on the way people treat you. my skin looks tired? in a way from the way i eat (i’m working on it). i get a lot of acne on my jaw and down my neck. it’s like people don’t even want to look at you because of how disgusting they find acne. my hormones have leveled themselves out now so i don’t get it as much but it definitely dented my confidence for a long while.
ppl r also rlly mean to fat and obese ppl, im so sorry :(

Along with my skin, I'm trying to learn to take care of my hair better. It plays a pretty big role in youthfulness

I took isotretinoin. It’s rough stuff but really does the job.

People, tips for a healthier skin/clearing acne(this is ensure like a okayish skin, not completely clear but better than before)
*THIS IS NOT A SHORTCUT, THERE IS NO SHORTCUT*
Finally a video of something you can fix.
All the other videos are just “this version of your eye or hair is bad, good luck”
I just finished accutane and it completely cleared my skin.
It's just interesting what society picks as cute and what they pick as "gross" and something that needs to be fixed asap.
man u sound like a wimp
Acne is unhealthy that's the difference. If we never breathed unhealthy air and or ate unhealthy food we would have clear skin.
Some girls look sooo pretty even with freckles ❤❤❤
This video high quality wish there was more channels like this
I take accutane and it has really helped my skin but also it has been super intense.
Try Eucerin Aquaphor
acne was a HUGE problem for me back in middle school- i got treatment last year and im way better now since some of my pimples hurt and shit
personally i did alot of research on skin care on skin care science...n i mean A LOT OF RESEARCH. from studies n ppl that know what they are saying. i keep my skin care routine minimal but i choose the right products to fix any issues i have. i keep it gentle n i choose products w good ingredients. so far my skin got wayyyyyyy better n its even glowing a lil im v happy :)
All on my own I won't give up
I recently started to perceive myself as more attractive. It coincidences with the time my skin cleared.
I still deal with huge pores and clogged pores, but still was called beautiful, but having nice clean skin is my goal and would level up my looks.
I'm very pretty but I have acne and I hate acne it makes you feel acne and takes away your confidence
Congrats on getting your channel back😊
acne isn't always a treatable condition, and it may come back once it's gone. even hormonal acne in guys can be inherited and many people are genetically disposed to having acne well into their adulthood. people do treat people with acne differently, and you're less likely to receive proper service at restaurants as your age is assumed to be smaller than it actually is.
There is where /r/tretinoin and google will be helpful.
tretinoin is different from isotretinoin because it's a topical cream
sorry for bad grammar
But it also has alot of negative side effects so people should always talk to a dermatologist before using it
@@l9kl294 Yeah causes purging, flaking in 1 to 3months and increase photo sensitivity that's why sunscreen is very important with tretinoin.
@@shanepadin2582 Sunscreen is generally very importan especially with acne
I had persistent adult acne. Then I started spironolactone and in about a year had PERFECT skin. It was all hormonal and no creams were going to fix it. EVERYONE commented on my skin clearing up. And my confidence went way up. I didn’t realize how much impact acne had on me until it was gone. PCOS / hormonal acne? Spironolactone WORKS. It takes months though.
