- It's autumn in NYC so I am deboxing and reviewing City Chic Barbie from the 2017 Barbie Look collection. She's ready to stroll the colorful autumn streets with her sweater dress and cup of coffee!
You guys know that I'm not the biggest fan of the new Barbie Look dolls but City Chic does have some redeeming qualities.

That is for sure a MTM body ( legs ) love that they offer crazy posing options HOWEVER i only use them when my dolls are fully clothed, because the joints are very ugy, Great Review Love!

I’ve had this doll for quite some time now and I’ve battled the idea of removing her from the package. Now I want to take her out because of another FABULOUS Suresh video!!! Your reviews always so insightful and you’re such a pleasure to watch! I’m not too keen on the whole M2M bodies myself. I’m ok with them as long as they’re coveres becasue they do give a great range of motion but those joints are hideous. I wish Mattel would soften them up because they make the dolls look robotic.
Hi! Yes, you should definitely take her out of the box :) I just swapped her head out for a Model Muse body a few days ago and am so happy I did. I know Model Muse isn't for everyone but I'm obsessed with it. I think you'll love all her little pieces--from the clothing to the accessories. Have fun!! :) xoxo

HAHA the Knees. Personally I don't find our Human Knees all that pretty. SO it does not bother me. You are right it looks weird for a fashion doll.

First thing that I have to get out of the way is I nearly choked with laughter when you discovered her knees! Your reaction was so hilarious! But I really like this doll. The moment I saw her I pre-ordered her which is something I don't do often. I love how she is put together so much 6 months later and I haven't changed a thing about her since opening her. And yes, the panties were a very adorable surprise. Wonderful review as always♡♡

I like highly pose-able dolls in the way I like my artists mannequin, they are so much fun to play with. She is #1 doll on my wishlist. (I've been spoiled by the highly pose-able Tonner dolls, now all my dolls need to have bending knees and elbows.)

I can understand why some doll collectors wouldn't like the made to move bodies. It almost makes the dolls look more like action figures. However, I do appreciate the range of motion they can do. I like the clothes and accessories she comes with...I may wait until she goes on sale lol. Love the Barbie shoes you got too!

Hi Suresh! I do love the new wall display. (Even though temporary)
1) I wish Mattel would do a better job with detail on the shoes as in painting the stacked heels, buckles, etc for a more realistic look instead of just every shoe all one color.
2) Finally! Underpants! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
3) Knee joints are UGLEE! Come on Mattel! More quality control puh-leeez!
4) The sweater dress is adorbz! I love how tiny the knitting is. I wish I could purchase this piece separately.

Yey!Another review! I also don't like the new website, very confusing 🙄.I like that you also showed the shoes! They look playline shoes tho 😂. I've been thinking of buying this doll. Tbh, she's quite nice compare to the previous Look dolls. Her. Eye make up tho 😩, such a fail 😂. Plus I also hate her body! 😂 But i was so happy that she had undergarments! It should he a rule that every collector doll should have undergarments right? Anyways, I will probably be buying her soon! Love the display on your back! I love it that you explore other Barbie dolls outside of Silkstone too and tht the perspective is from a collector's point of view.
I LOVE it that you do critique it from that point of view because collectors are concerned with a certain level of quality that I think Mattel/BarbieCollector makers should not let go of. That is difficult for a mass-produced product which is often feeling a tug of war between building business or being a pillar product brand for image building (which I believe the Silkstones should do for the brand -- it is the House of Mattel, the show of skill and taste and who is Queen. That I think is the situation Silkstones are in now. It also doesn't seem to know if Silkstone is playline or fashion mannequins. It would be nice to guest some avid collectors as well who have can doll-talk with you. Or maybe a tour of what's happening in the doll aisles of your favorite stores -- especially now during the Holidays. Being from a different country, our doll products are very, very limited to just playline. I am interested to see those aisles, the displays and your most appreciated opinion. Thursday is Suresh NY day for me -- always. It keeps me going during the week.

Sadly, there are no stores in New York City that I know of that carry collector Barbies except for a few large stores that have a few dolls here and there. I buy all my dolls online. I only see them in stores when I’m outside of New York, ironically. I agree with you about Mattel’s proposed strategy and focusing on Silkstones. Anyway, thanks for watching!
Great review as always. I agree that the MTM joints are ugly if exposed. Keep those suckers covered up :) She's a really pretty doll though. Love her face, hair, and sweater dress.

I'm a collector who enjoys posing and photographing my dolls for photo stories, so I love the articulation... even though it could be better. I do wish the worlds of fashion and function could marry together better, but Mattel's quality control is nonexistent right now so, I'm not sure how to do that.

I really have no idea how to navigate their site at all! Not even the search bar knows what you are requesting and you cannot reach the adult collectors section easily to see what's new which they are also very behind with! Get your act together Mattel!!

I love this doll
I just would never have bare thighs with boots, socks and a sweater dress. I'd at least want to have some black tights underneath. I think I might get this one at some point, I do like her outfit pieces and I like the doll for the most part. I don't mind the Made To Move articulation if it is hidden under clothing, but I agree that it is unsightly if it's visible. Mattel could really machine those parts with better tolerances and finish the molded pieces more nicely, for sure. Another fun video! :)

Lol I feel like the only one who thinks the made to move bodies are ugly. I'm glad to see you agree. Don't get me wrong, I understand why collectors who like to pose and customize their dolls like them, but as someone who only puts them on a stand to display I'm not a fan.
Stephanie Martorelli I agree with you 100%! I do think that the range of motion is great for collectors and enthusiasts who love to pose them. But I am just like you… I like to put them on display and not to fuss with them after that.

I guess Mattel went pretty much all the way when it comes to her details as a black label doll, and that's what I love about Sweater Dress. She's cute, all about casual fashion, which is a "to die for" facor to most of the light collectors like me :)
Btw, any chance you have plan to review her counterpart(Metallic Mini barbie)? I know her default overall look is quite underwhelming, but once I straightened that ugly hair, I saw Beyonce + Sofia vergara realness :D

I really loved this lil pre-fall look. It's simple, and modern. However, I really need for Mattel to develope some new face molds, and I can't stand how big they make the eyes... meh.
This is a pretty new face mold for them and they seem madly in love with it as many new dolls this year and last have had this face. I can see what you mean about the big eyes...
I like this doll but have similar doll clothes already. I have another Look doll with this type of body and noticed her knees don't bend as far as a made to move doll's and are darker than the rest of the doll. This joint also looks better on the made to move, slightly less chunky and more refined. It's odd, like the Look doll has prototype knees or something.
back2s0ul oh weird. Which Look doll do you have? Last year’s Look dolls didn’t have these legs and torsos-they had the standard articulated knees and a smaller, model-muse type of body with articulated arms.
I have the Park Pretty doll with the sundress and little dog. I don't love this body. I wish they had used the older one instead. Overall she seems more playline than collector. She was on sale though and I like the dress, not so much the fabric, but I wasn't expecting much.

Thank you for the review. I thought this doll was called Happy Hipster, whatever :) I bought this doll for her outfit and let me tell you that it looks so much better on an IT doll, in fact you can put on almost any cheap dress and they´ll make it look like high-end fashion :D
I agree that her knees are ugly but I like how them make her more posable. I wish that IT will make their bodies with more articulation even if it´s ugly as hell. I guess you´ll have to dress them with clothes that hides the ugliness :p

Yours has some defects! Mine doesn't have that mess on her eyes. That's why I stopped buying Barbies online, they send you defective ones. The last one I bought online was the redhead curvy with the stripped outfit and I had to return her because she came up cross-eyed.
Yea it's a bummer. I don't have the time to go to stores unfortunately and not many stores in NYC even carry Barbies anymore. So online it is.
I'm obsessed with this doll. I'm planning on getting her and I would love to know if her legwarmers stay in place if you remove the tape, that attaches them to the legs.

I have this doll and I love ❤️ her body and the articulation in the knees, very sloppy you can sand the imperfections down. I love her thick body
