I appreciate the new bounty hunter lore kinda makes sense most bounty hunters are just trying to make a living so they aren’t going to be going after yonko or something
Bounty hunters and their lack of in the series will still be one of my most hated missed opportunities ever!! Like what's the point of bounties if no one gonna capture them!! Marines don't cash out the bounties because it's their job, I wish there was more bounty hunters in the cannon of the series, or marines that threw the code of justice and started working solo or with groups to get money while still doing their jobs and be their own bosses. At least I wished for fujitora to be introduced as a retired bounty hunter that's why he's a strong civilian with haki.
The WHOLE CAST did a FANTASTIC job in their roles as I love all the actors so much in their character's roles and buggy is a real fun highlight of how great the performances were in the show! Love this show so much, can't wait for season 2 and more season of live action One Piece!
If you watch the episode in the Japanese dub, when Luffy hits Buggy with the Gum Gum Bazooka, Buggy yells “OTSUKARESAMADESHITA!” (Roughly translates to “thank you for your hard work”) which is a running gag for Buggy in the anime (fillers) whenever he is hit with a finisher and sent flying. I was so happy they even kept that small detail!
Your videos make me appreciate the episodes more than I already do. That's why I've decided to only watch reactions for the episodes after you cover them.
Episode 2 was so enjoyable, my one gripe and disappointment is that i don't get to see luffy kicking buggy right in the crotch. I was so looking forward to that scene
I think a good compromise for Richie would be to make him a guy in a lion suit. Yes it would be corny but they could play it for laughs, or it could even be a villager they forced to dress as a lion for their act.
Buggy was so full of personality and I loved every moment he was on screen. There was even a nice funny touch when he knocks out luffy in the tent as you can see him quickly flip him the bird.
Can I also mention how I love Zoro and Nami's interaction and tag team in this episode? Not to mention Mackenyu and Emily had great chemistry, it makes watching their dynamic even more fun, and definitely so in the next episodes throughout the season.
@@MonkeyKingsformerroomateyeah the producers said that Oda made it clear from the very beginning that no romance between the strawhats is an iron clad rule that must never be crossed, its just that Emily and Mackenyu have tons of chemistry

The Bara Bara no mi has striking similarities to certain aspects of Logia fruits. If mastered with high combat abilities, Buggy could be pretty much untouchable.
If buggy had future sight he'd actually be invincible since no attack ever could hit him. How do you hit a man who can split into an infinite amount of tiny pieces?
There's got to be more to that chase through the swamplands story. There's no way Zoro could successfully follow a specific target through the wilderness over a course of days.
My headcanon: I imagine he wasn't intending to stalk the target for an extended period at all. He probably meant to go straight in, get the guy and get out...but being Zoro he kept getting lost and that SEEMED like he was being menacing with him popping up and them running away on repeat, til he finally got the guy lol
We have to keep in mind that they can’t put everything into the show. Battles are especially expensive to film, I think they did an incredible job with what they cut
I actually found Higurama's death in the LA to be worse and I don't mean bad, in the manga/anime, he sees the Lord of the Coast just before it eats him but in the LA, they feel something hit the boat which knocks them into the water where they still don't see the Seaking and suddenly Higurama is dragged under the water, which to me is a worse and scarier way to die.
I loved the opening scene of Makino and Luffy, she tells him about Devil Fruits and then she says you know the old saying there is no such thing as a free lunch Luffy Oh is it Lunch Time Makino chuckles and says Fix my chair and I will see what I have in the kitchen, That was adorable, seeing the Motherly relationship she has with Luffy
I've been watching One Piece for 20 years now, but my wife has never watched it, so she watched the live action with me, when she first saw the Den Den Mushi, her exact words were "Who Comes up with this shit" and I think that describes One Piece perfectly and why I love it. lol
This adaptation is my first foray into One Piece and I must say Im loving it, the emotion the actors portray is touching and im going to have to start on the anime now that I’ve finished this first season
On the seawater take I can see them staying tru to the Source material by having buggy said is seawater because Seastone is made by seawater so it's extra effective So that way in future seasons they can say Oh, any liquid can do it but seawater is super effective Cause the ocean hates them
So I'll be honest, I like that they made it specifically sea water that weakens DF users. Any liquid just felt weird to me in the manga/Anime and just makes no sense whenever Luffy's in rain, drinks something, etc and how he isn't weakened.
oh, i didn't know any liquid affects devil fruit users in the manga. i've always remembered it as just sea water, which is why i thought they call kairosiki "sea prism stones".
I understand why Shushu doesn't appear in the live action. But I miss that moment were Luffy shows that he is a different kind of shonen hero and he has empathy for a dog's loss. Luffy's empathy has been key to his character since the very beginning and it's a shame it's not shown.
I was very unsure about making Buggy into a genuinely menacing figure, since its one of the larger divergences from canon so far. It was a very enjoyable episode though.
It's not divergence from canon, buggy in his first few appearances in easy blue saga is menacing & intimidating he only became silly & goody AFTERWARDS. So they're just following the manga
With revelation that "Pirate King" was pretty much a buzzword coined by Morganz, and knowing that Pirate King is merely a means to an end for his REAL dream - Luffy doesn't even need to be the one to find One Piece depending on circumstances. Buggy for One Piece is the Agenda. Lock it in.
Never seen or read any One Piece until the live action and I’m absolutely hooked. Also watching this guy talk about One Piece is almost as entertaining as the show lol.
Given the fact it currently has an 83% critic rating and a 96% audience rating, and is #1 on Netflix in 84 different countries, surpassing the record set by both Wednesday (which was confirmed to be getting a season 2) and Stranger Things Season 4....I'm pretty damn sure One Piece is getting a season 2. The only reason they haven't announced it yet is because of the still ongoing strike going on. Pretty sure that if that strike wasn't going on, they would've announced the second season almost immediately. But because of the strike, they most likely can't announce anything since they can't actually work on any current or future projects until the strike is over (and who knows when that will be given Hollywood is being a major piece of fucking shit rn)
In general it makes more sense. "Hated by the sea" translating to ALL liquids making them weak is weird. It being specifically the sea that makes them weak is the most obvious thing.
I love the gag of Buggy finding the one-piece before Luffy, but as a gag. I think it will diminish Luffy’s achievement if Oda actually writes it as part of the story. Think about it: Luffy becomes the 2nd person to find the one-piece and become pirate king after Roger’s death?
A part of me can't help but think about what a monster Buggy could be if he awakened his fruit. Being able to separate anything nearby and controlling the parts would be overpowered. Of course, Law can do part of it already, but it is an incredibly powerful ability.
I'm looking forward to Oda making references to the live action in the manga. There's no way he'll miss the chance to reference a recreation of his own work 😀
@@jackroberts2704buggy’s fruit seems really broken in the live action. Like if you had to fight him without being a literal overpowered anime character, it would be really difficult! I like how dangerous he feels
@@jonathanmcculley3728 That's just how devil fruits are in general. Every fruit is really really broken. That's why it's worth considering losing the ability to swim in a world that seems to be like 95% ocean.
Buggy is so good! I love that they played him like the Joker. And that he had a literal captive audience. Honestly the most engaging part of the entire season to me is that we are following Koby because it really is the newest material. Garp is also a standout to me. I love the way they did Luffy's backstory with Shanks and the Lord of the Coast. We even see him use Haki! I am sad they didn't keep Shanks' “You’re putting your life on the line by pointing that at me" quote though. I always thought that was the most badass line. And pretty integral to the way Shanks lives his life. I love that each episode's title screen is a different Jolly Roger!
Making straw hat being attack by buggy pirates was great move I never cared much for Orange villiage as setting but seeing pirates actually attack other ships is fresh air in one piece
Given how many canon characters got cut this time around, there is almost no chance they will bring in filler characters let alone filler arcs. They might get a name drop at most.
Oda is having his second chamce to change things he wanted in thisnlove action, i know they need to compress as they dont have enough time to everything but i doubt oda isnt having a blast to show somethings he really wanted to change in this series.
That's why I went into this with full hope it would be good. The fact Oda himself was the one dictating "this is good" or "this is bad, please change this", and the writers and showrunner being huge One Piece fans as well, along with the main cast, and...everything just felt like it could've been another day at the office for Oda. And it shows in the end result. This feels like One Piece. Yes, it's different from the original manga and anime, but it was always going to be. It was impossible to recreate it 1:1. But despite all the massive changes made, I still felt the same story beats and it still felt like the whimsical One Piece story that I know.
I think Buggy is just exaggerating. It's more of a hyperbole as you can't beat a DF user with a super soaker which has always been a misconception among people who don't know so much about OP.
Welll Tekking, technically because One Piece passed Batman to become the 2nd most sold comic book, Buggy would be the most popular "evil" clown. But I also think Pennywise the Clown is even more well known.
im really fucking happy that I can watch your videos. stopped watching you & one piece during Wano to wait til the anime is all finished as to avoid spoilers by watching your videos. now that the live action version is out, i am now able to watch your videos once again, even if only for a brief moment. when one piece is over, i will have hundreds of videos to catch up on and i cant wait.
One detail i see nobody else notice is that when buggy uses a buggy ball with his detatched hand, right before the lights go out he flips off luffy. People may have noticed it and just not mentioned it but i still thought it was funny and worth sharing.
...I thought it was just seawater all the way until that one movie too, the one where Kuzan takes a bath and has to be careful about submersion level, and I was like. Wait. But that's not seawater 🤨 I mean, it just makes sense to have it be seawater in particular! You can't tell people for hundreds of chapters/episodes that those who have eaten a Devil Fruit are hated by the sea so they can't swim and call the stone that makes df users weak "sea prism stone" and still expect people to think "Oh yeah getting submerged in honey is surely gonna have the same effect as all this sea-themed stuff!" 😂 Like, no. Ofc people are gonna assume it's sea-stuff in particular.
I really like this portrayal of Buggy. Buggy deserves the respect that the Live Action show put on him for how powerful defensively the Bara-Bara no Mi is(especially with the changes that the Live Action gave to its power).
TEKKING I HAVE A VIDEO IDEA: Who would win an eating contest out of all the characters in One Piece? Cheating is allowed so long as the food is technically in the eater's body. This would be a fun way to look at some non-combat ways of using DFs. Luffy can expand his body, Wappol becomes what he eats, BB can absorb everything into darkness, Bluno could maybe open some kind of door in his gut, Ace/Sabo could maybe incinerate the food once they have eaten it and make more room? (Could they or would the food become part of their body and not be affected by fire?) Zunisha is massive, Robin could make a giant stomach and mouth, Bege could store the food in his castle body, etc Who can eat the most without a DF both in amount and relative to their body size. (What percentage of food to body weight could Zunisha eat vs. Luffy, for example.) Who can eat the most food while using DF powers? Who can eat the fastest with and without DF powers? I know it would be a dumb video, but it would also be a fun one.
Life action Buggy reminds me of the Joker from Joker and what he did with the Village people is something the Joker did in old Batman storys even the water Tank.
Jeff Ward was pretty great as Buggy. I really felt that he brought all the right elements the character. Buggy once again continuing to be the best character in the series and he really should get to the One Piece first
Buggy was always in my top five characters (along with Zoro, Vivi, Crocodile and Mr. 2 Bon Clay) but Jeff Ward's portrayal was outstanding. He felt like the Joker on steroids with his maniac personality
Can we all appreciate how good Tekking is as reenacting Buggy? Bro is on freakin point with delivery and inflection. Honestly, Tekking could’ve played Buggy too, very impressive,
30:28 why not ? I mean B.B. actor is exactly what I think of shanks crew. A bunch of weirdos and as I heard recently apart of the Failed Generation. And he fits that vibe so much
I think the idea with mini dendens is that they are psychically linked to specific other mini dendens through whatever method (maybe they have the snails they want linked up socialize for a bit) and they can't be used to contact any others when in use.
If you mean the baby den dens them they actually have a dial pad on one side of there shell just like regular den dens. What they don't have is the speaker. So baby den dens work just like the regular ones, but they can only reach people on the same Island as they are
I think the thought process is that seawater is the only thing in this universe that directly affect there powers, where as DF users just lose the ability to swim so any large enough body of water CAN be deadly but doesnt necessarily weaken them?
It kind of cleans up the confusion in the manga imo. The idea that you become an enemy of Mother Sea, the ocean, makes sense on its own. Adding in the possible weakness to juice, tea, fresh water or any liquid gets a little messy.
@@jackroberts2704 Completely agreed, and the fact that they can't swim and any large enough body of water would still be dangerous makes sense as well, because it's not like they will suddenly learn how to swim lol
Omg I was shrieking inside when buggy was talking about shanks and him not being able to shine like a star cause of him. Direct relation to the manga and also, having mihawk and buggy in the baratie was like a little nod to the cross guild lol
I am sure he did not mean Buggy becomes it and stay it. More like Buggy becomes it just again by pure Luck or acident like ehile Luffy has his final fight. And when Luffy is finished he imedeatly defeats Buggy and becomes it. And People should not forgett that Buggy is still Odas Favorite Character.
Tekking ,for years I've been trying to figure where you got the "all liquid makes devil fruit users weak" idea. Oda said it's sea water of any kind referring to like sky island sea water and what not. He also mentioned that "moving water" like rain and such do not weaken devil fruit users. It's always been sea water. That's also why it's sea stone that affects them and why salt affects Moria's zombies. I can't think of any instance where other liquids have weakened devil fruit users besides Crocodile.
I don’t know if they have confirmed what season 2 will cover or if there will be one. But I feel with the pacing to keep it good would be to go up through drum then do a whole season for alabasta or do a long season to end with alabasta.
I watched all of the 1st season Buggy was MVP in the episode and he was amazing. Buggy is like The Joker and it's a great charismatic portrayal for Buggy D Clown.

@@rohankishibe8259 i agree , however, i feel like oda could do something with the cross guild and t bone stuff
I thought Jeff Ward did a phenominonal job as Buggy I also really like how good the effect for Buggys chop chop fruit powers were
They literally found the perfect Buggy, so glad for this
The WHOLE CAST did a FANTASTIC job in their roles as I love all the actors so much in their character's roles and buggy is a real fun highlight of how great the performances were in the show! Love this show so much, can't wait for season 2 and more season of live action One Piece!
Jeff D. Ward.
I know it won't happen, but I've always shipped Zoro and Nami
@@MonkeyKingsformerroomateyeah the producers said that Oda made it clear from the very beginning that no romance between the strawhats is an iron clad rule that must never be crossed, its just that Emily and Mackenyu have tons of chemistry
@johnychrist5475 I have a feeling he will pair them when the whole thing is over. Like an epilogue. Not necessarily them specifically just that I think some will have kids
Back in 2021 I was binge watching one piece then I discovered your channel, I become a fan of you because of your enthusiasm and I really like that because as a fan of one piece myself before I want someone who has the same excitement, enjoyment and fun as I do.
Tekking thank you for doing these reviews 1 episode at a time and not just the whole series in 10-20 mins on day 1. Took me a while to watch the whole season and i just love your reviews man
The episode by episode reviews also cover the small details that a lot of other reviewers are missing.
@jackroberts2704 exactly! So many reviews are just "i really liked it" or "i didn't like this" tekking goes in depth and makes me want to rewatch the episodes to catch the parts i missed
*Laughs in sawyer.* Reviews the chapter, the anime and live action in 10 minutes lol
🙋♂️ I want to see Buggy in Laugh Tale, without his "Can't-enter-this-island-otherwise-I'll die-disease".
I hope it’s an actual disease and he goes to laugh tale and actually gets sick, and only gets cured by chopper after the final fight
@@baconboi4482It would be another Usopp lie that came true, I fully expect it to be why Buggy never went in the first place
The Bara Bara no mi has striking similarities to certain aspects of Logia fruits. If mastered with high combat abilities, Buggy could be pretty much untouchable.
It’s always reminded me of like aokijis fruit because he’s pretty much got the most “physical” of the logias
If buggy had future sight he'd actually be invincible since no attack ever could hit him. How do you hit a man who can split into an infinite amount of tiny pieces?
Definitely one of the best episodes in the live-action. Loved the performances of everything & the setup with this one.
I too want Buggy to get the One Piece first.
Buggy will be Pirate King when Luffy is too bored and heads out to become Space-Pirate King.
There's got to be more to that chase through the swamplands story. There's no way Zoro could successfully follow a specific target through the wilderness over a course of days.
He can follow people just fine. Just can't navigate on his own.
My mum watched and enjoyed the one piece live action series, I as a son am very proud of her
I actually found Higurama's death in the LA to be worse and I don't mean bad, in the manga/anime, he sees the Lord of the Coast just before it eats him but in the LA, they feel something hit the boat which knocks them into the water where they still don't see the Seaking and suddenly Higurama is dragged under the water, which to me is a worse and scarier way to die.
That scene was terrifying, would be awesome if we get Luffy leaving Windmill and KOing the lord of the coast in season 2
The age for Benn Beckman is not the issue lol it’s the looks for sure
I loved the opening scene of Makino and Luffy, she tells him about Devil Fruits and then she says you know the old saying there is no such thing as a free lunch
Luffy Oh is it Lunch Time
Makino chuckles and says Fix my chair and I will see what I have in the kitchen,
That was adorable, seeing the Motherly relationship she has with Luffy
18:50 I would have been fine with a Cgi lion, along the lines of the live action Scooby-Doo movies. Richie always reminded me of Scooby 😋
23:36 I am surprised that during that time zoro had a good sense of direction to chase them down for three days. 😂
I bet his Sense of direction is the reason he took three days
I love the Bluetooth den den muchi they just work in the live action, tho idk how I feel putting a slimy snail in my ear
On the seawater take I can see them staying tru to the Source material by having buggy said is seawater because Seastone is made by seawater so it's extra effective So that way in future seasons they can say Oh, any liquid can do it but seawater is super effective Cause the ocean hates them
Hip-hip hurray for the Bogard name drop. My eyes lit up as soon as garp said it. Finally getting some screentime XD
I’m pretty sure the betrayal this early on was Buggy losing his map and accidentally eating his fruit
The dog was there he just isn't acknowledged. You do see him walking by the villagers after their freed
Yeah, he's more of a cameo in the live action
With revelation that "Pirate King" was pretty much a buzzword coined by Morganz, and knowing that Pirate King is merely a means to an end for his REAL dream - Luffy doesn't even need to be the one to find One Piece depending on circumstances.
Buggy for One Piece is the Agenda. Lock it in.
57 minutes breakdown for a 55 minutes episode. i still love Tekking xD
Never seen or read any One Piece until the live action and I’m absolutely hooked. Also watching this guy talk about One Piece is almost as entertaining as the show lol.
The water weakness probably was a change to make it a little bit easier to deal with Crocodile if they get a second season
There's no way he'll miss the chance to reference a recreation of his own work 😀
Since Buggy seems to have more control over his fruit here, maybe Oda will have Buggy awaken or at least strengthen his fruit soon in the manga.
@@dontmisunderstand6041And then you have the legendary jacket jacket fruit.
Buggy felt like the joker in the live action.
We did kinda have the Shanks quote said by Zoro in the bar though
ManI havent read op since the start of egg head island so Ive been avoiding your vids. Feels good to be able to watches these haha
Same here
I completely forgot the grand line map was an important thing, literally thought it was just a live action twist
Making straw hat being attack by buggy pirates was great move
I never cared much for Orange villiage as setting but seeing pirates actually attack other ships is fresh air in one piece
The live action is the perfect way to bring back Jonathan from navarone . Marine base 8.
I agree. I think having the Marines be more of a presence earlier on helps to set up the stuff their importance way down the line.
I’m loving the black light, Matt! You can use it more for Egghead island tech and the cool light fight incoming if you want. It’s fun
Buggy episode so far is my favorite. Great portrayal and they actually made his powers a bit scary as compared to in the manga.
I love that we see koby development
Buggy was so much darker in this adaption I feel. It went pretty well overall.
I really like the change in Devil Fruit user weakness. It being seawater, and it working almost like Kryptonite makes a lot of sense to me.
Is that really all that different?
The idea a splash of water weakens them is dumb....as on a boat sea water sprays on everything.
One of your best intro’s. Makes me laugh every time. 😂
Fr😂😂😂
im really fucking happy that I can watch your videos. stopped watching you & one piece during Wano to wait til the anime is all finished as to avoid spoilers by watching your videos.
now that the live action version is out, i am now able to watch your videos once again, even if only for a brief moment. when one piece is over, i will have hundreds of videos to catch up on and i cant wait.
This episode is very thematic with what we learn about Luffy and Buggy much later
(Could they or would the food become part of their body and not be affected by fire?) Zunisha is massive, Robin could make a giant stomach and mouth, Bege could store the food in his castle body, etc
Who can eat the most without a DF both in amount and relative to their body size. (What percentage of food to body weight could Zunisha eat vs. Luffy, for example.)
Who can eat the most food while using DF powers?
Who can eat the fastest with and without DF powers?
I know it would be a dumb video, but it would also be a fun one.
It can't be Luffy because he can't even beat Uta
Caribou would easily place in the top 5 with his df powers.
Caribou easily
@@jamesflanagan6977uta cheated😤🤬🤬🤬🤬
Please continue the "What if the strawhats die" series I have been patiently awaiting the usopp episode because I know it's gonna be a banger
Life action Buggy reminds me of the Joker from Joker and what he did with the Village people is something the Joker did in old Batman storys even the water Tank.
BUGGY D CLOWN! He is great. The actor did great. We all love Buggy👏
I like how live-action buggy looks alot like Buggy's original design of Captain Boogie from the green Databook
So baby den dens work just like the regular ones, but they can only reach people on the same Island as they are
I was thinking the betrayal buggy was referring to was just Shanks making him eat his devil fruit lol
Lucky Roux is giving new meaning to the words "beating meat" and we also saw Luffy deepthroating the Map what a wild episode I love it lol
I regards to higuma wishing he was never born I took that as him being annoyed by luffy.
I'll say one thing. Buggy really feels like he's terrorizing Orange Town and not just bullying a dog here.
Chou chou was the emotional backbone of the ark 😢
Omg I was shrieking inside when buggy was talking about shanks and him not being able to shine like a star cause of him. Direct relation to the manga and also, having mihawk and buggy in the baratie was like a little nod to the cross guild lol
I’m not opposed to buggy being at laughtale, but definitely don’t want him to be pirate king before Luffy. That’s where the line should be drawn
IMO this was the strongest of the live action episodes. I've never been a Buggy fan, but this more creepy portrayal was fantastic.
Man i just replayed that opening like 10 times 😂😂😂 tekking u crazy bro
I love the way they did buggy in the live action and his actor is amazing
By far and away the very best adaptation to live action ever done.
It's just bodies of water. not all liquid.
100% agreed, buggy should find the one piece first just like how he found the treasure first in the stampede movie
Jeff was amazing as Buggy. Love the episode.
