Exactly. Also, I find her as the least mentioned character of the movie. Not that no one talks about her in the movie, but the audience more likely never knew who supported Flint.
4:23 “But when all seemed lost, I stared at defeat (the feet) and found hope.” This actually goes perfectly with that quote, because if you remember, in the last scene, “But when all seemed lost” is when the machine is charging up its next attack, only for Flint to look down at his feet, which reminds him of the spray on shoes, this is where the “I sated at defeat (the feet) and found hope” part comes in, that was honestly a perfect quote for that scene, and it’s a shame that we don’t see movies like this nowadays.
Despite his lack of confidence in Flint, seeing how happy he is to open "Tim's and Son's Sardine Bait and Tackle" shows that Tim really does love his son.
Interestingly enough, most of his seemingly useless inventions ended up being useful in the movie. The Flying Car 2 got the team to the FLDSMDFR, spray-on shoes destroyed the FLDSMDFR, Rat-Birds got Flint home safely after the explosion and the Monkey Thought Translator helped Flint's dad share his true feelings for his son. Well done, Flint!
3:45 I love how he wants to help his hometown even though everyone in it calls him a weirdo. Usually in these situations the character wants to run away and find adventure and success elsewhere
Flint is an insanely relatable character for me. He's the character who wants to show his gifts to the world, but the world keeps beating him down for it. I was made fun of for being the weirdo "screw-up" in my late elementary/early middle school years too. And just like him, i had probably just as many self doubt and depressing moments (like the garbage scene) As a high school graduate aspiring to be a writer and artist, this movie is a stand out example of great storytelling and character development.
He invented a cure for baldness and translators for animals those two things should of made him very rich. Actually it probably did explaining how he can afford his lab.
The manages to convert h2o into a literal cheeseburger like heomaglobin, carbs , fat, protein, sugar, calcium, dairy , all from just Hydrogen and 2 oxygen molecules like his IQ is so high he has basically invented magic because that is what just happened 👁👄👁
4:26 are we gonna talk about how/ why the shot when "he found hope" was from the end when he was literally staring at defeat, and found hope in his spray on shoes. That is some major foreshadowing.
I love the fact it plays twice in the film. My favorite moment for the second time, is when Flint dons his coat once more, and heads to the lab, determined and confident he can fix this for everyone. The entire world is in grave danger. The score is what makes this movie awesome to watch.
That's the kind of mom everyone wish they had! Carring, suportive, knows what to say...will do ANYTHING to put a smile on your kid's face. When a kid's wings break, she will fix them. ❤
I love the music near the beginning, before Flint’s voice comes in. His mom sits down beside him, convinces him to not give up, & inspires him to chase after his dreams. “But that never stopped them.” I love the music as she holds up the lab coat: “I was saving this for your birthday, but here.” Her admiring smile: “The world needs your originality, Flint.” His two lines most of all. “My dream was to help my hometown. A tiny island hidden under the A in Atlantic, called Swallow Falls,” and “But when all seemed lost, I stared at defeat, & found hope.” I love the music & color for the title & when it shows Flint’s lab. “It had been almost 10 years since Mom died, & Dad still didn’t understand me like she did.”
I first saw this movie when I was 8, I thought that it was just a comedy and the main character was so childish, but 3 years later I found that it was truly a masterpiece, although I’m 17 now, I still love it 🥰
All of his creation that seems failed made a great succesed in the end, flying car is working in the end,the bird helped flint by carried him to the ground, voice translate made his father confessed how he really feel, the spray make the FOODMACHINE stopped working

MOM is so cool.. always encourages her child.. Dad stays on ground, be rude, but they are also cute and practical.
I love my late Dad and Mom to encourage me to be who I am ! i feel Like I am a Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
I like how 1 minute after the movie starts, depression/sadness kicks in 😂😂😂
