Surreal. I used to see "Best of" composer compilations on UA-cam, and thought, wow, I'll never get to that point. But here it is. Thanks so much for uploading this Pandora Journey. Means a lot to me personally and I hope my music is able to help others pursue their dreams and nothing else.
i always wanted to upload this in fact this little mix was ready like two months ago, so that i totally missed to add your latest album 'if' :( i personally enjoy your music, ofc there are a few times when you have to listen to your music multiple times to get 'used' to it, but hey that doesn't mean i don't like it. keep doing what you doing & thank you for letting me share your music!
Whoa this is very good stuff! I think I heard a few of your tracks on other compilations. Trouble with compilations with multiple artists (though they are SO awesome) is that you let it play in the background and don't really notice the titles or artists. Glad Pandora Journey does some dedicated to singular artists too :) Makes great discoveries! Your music is awesome!! You, sir, gained a subscriber!
I certainly say that I've instantly added two of your compositions to my top 10 list, and this is not something that happens often, and I search often for more. Rather than try to find the best way to describe it, I feel Pandora framed it best. A Fantastic talent not afraid of trying new things. There are BOTH familiar epic vibes yet something new. I remember another comment on a different video too that I agreed with deeply. These compositions.....don't give people what they want, but give people what they didn't know they wanted. Keep it up! I am a fan
Just heard your music today for the first time. I love Epic music and yours is beautiful. Thank you so much for having so much talent and allowing us to hear it.
Peut-être qu'aucun francophone ne lira ce message... Mais à celui qui le lira, je lui souhaite une bonne journée. Quelles musiques magnifiques... I know people here are not french, so let's say it in english : It is... Beautiful. Awesome. Wonderful. It makes you imagine many stuffs...
*Empyrean*: Nice piano at the beginning which is then followed by a beautiful choir. The turning point was a surprise for me, but a positive one for sure. However, I'd have wished for a slightly longer track and no electronic sounds in the end. 8.5/10 *Final Light*: A beautiful violin if there ever was one. Incredibly creative song, very interestingly put together with many different instruments and heartbreakingly brilliant choir. 10/10 *Ocean Dream*: Calm yet majestic beginning. I'm not sure I like the connection to the "truly epic" part at 6:40, but the melody that follows is quite interesting. The same goes for the choir which is truly motivating and powerful. Around 8:00 it gets a bit messy with the background noises, but it is nevertheless a very unique and - can you say that? - exciting to listen to piece of music. 9/10 *Windspeak*: Very promising beginning; I especially like the male choir. I'm frequently at loss with Phil Lobers songs because there is so much happening in them that I cannot possible describe how I feel about every part. Let it be said that I tremendously enjoy the different instruments used in here and that this melody has got to be one of the most majestic I ever heard. Still, I'd have wished for an even bigger finale. 8.5/10 *The Honor in Her Effort*: Very powerful beginning, which is then combined with this brilliant violin and piano. The melody is fascinating as well; I don't think I've ever heard something even close to this (and that's great!). Apart from that, it's of course epic as hell. The part before 16:25 is a bit too messy for my taste, but it's nevertheless a good bridge. The only reason this one doesn't get more points is that I heard "Final Light" before. 9.5/10 *The Brave One*: The combination violin/flute (I think it is?) works absolutely fantastic. Phil Lober generally has a faible for these majestic songs, I feel, and this one is maybe the most majestic song he's ever done. The only thing that felt a bit off is the comedic bit at the end and the ending afterwards which seemed a bit loosely attached to the rest of the piece. 9/10 *Clockwater*: Highly interesting beginning with a very interesting piano and afterwards nice synth sounds. At first the slightly scratchy sounds might sound off, but I think it gives the song something special it wouldn't quite have otherwise. Still, the ending isn't really my favourite; no dominating melody emerges and it all feels a bit scattered. 8/10 *Splicer*: Begins a bit more like a classical trailer piece, but you can already hear that this one will be special at 24:12 (in general, all of Phil Lobers songs are special, which imo is a great asset of his and a very good thing for trailer music in general). We then move on (after an epic part that wasn't too extraordinary) to experimental electronic bits which I normally don't like but which fit this song really well. The underlying voice serves to make this one a tad more special, but I feel like there's a finale missing in this one as well. 8.5/10 *Shifted Spirit*: Very epic beginning in this one which then gets calmer (same concept as in "The Honor in Her Effort"). I especially like the part at 28:25; feels unique yet familiar. The melody afterwards is fascinating as well, but the finale is imo nothing to write home about, more noisy than spectacular. 8/10 *Selerium*: That voice! What a beginning to this piece! The choir afterwards forms a perfect contrast between beautiful-ethereal and epic. However, I have to admit I don't like the melody around 31:30 too much and the ending is, yes, unique, but dissonant. Amazing beginning, a bit disappointing ending (although it definitely stays in your mind). 8/10 *Alive*: It's really too long to have everything in here. To make it short: Yes, the voice is truly fitting and beautiful, the music is in general interesting, but it's not brilliant enough to make it up there with "Final Light" despite the fact there is nothing in here I really dislike. 9/10 In general I think that Phil Lober definitely deserves more attention, because of his unique style, his immense variety and creativity (I mean, listen to "The Secret of Muerta Island" and then to "Final Light", the difference is incredible) and his undeniable talent in combining sounds.
Honestly best compilation ever heard so far. There is everything, epicness, feels, bravery, inspiration, calm, speed, the list is endless. Thank you so much Pandora to bring us all those incredible artists!
Agree with you pandora, first heard his music on a flight to China and was thinking...why have I not heard of this guy yet? his music gives me goosbumps every time.
I always listen to epic mixes while getting to sleep and I always wake up when a track that “fits me” sometimes it’s hard to track them down if I don’t look immediately. I am so glad I found Ocean Dream and now this mix with more of his unique style. I love big epic tracks that have it all!
Phil, you deserve so much more exposure than you are getting, all of your stuff is amazing. This is the kind of stuff that should be in the new avatar movies coming out...
phillip is underrated to bad, thers a bunch of composers making songs that call te me that make me dream beyond reality's boundaries but phil...oh phillip... how do you do all this? with almost every composed piece you make my imaginations flow harder then the swirl of an tornado
Phil never really ceases to amaze, does he? Also, can I recommend Thomas Bergerson (sorry I may have spelled the last name wrong) to be in this series? Just a thought, of course.
Haces un maravilloso trabajo que inspira los trabajos de otros muchos. Gracias por componer la banda sonora que muchos usamos para inspirarnos y crear.
Is it me or he loves to use asian style escales? Well I don´t study music but his songs have awesome asiatic sound... maybe it´s just me. Anyway, I love it!!!
My favorite part is that this person gets hundreds of thousands of views all because of someone else's videos while Phil Lober's actual music on his channel gets like a couple hundred views a video and has less than 2,000 subscribers.

one of my personal favorite composers, his music is very unique and he is not afraid of trying out new stuff!

I certainly see why you like him. I'm halfway through and damn, these are great!
+UnderScore Music 😐
Agreed. Alive is one of the oddest songs I've heard yet it's also one of my favorites.

Ouai vraiment très jolie (je suis français) :)
=)

Ouais mais c'était l'idée quoi.... ;-)
Elles sont magnifiques surtout la deuxième avec la petit chorale, qui rend super bien, j'ai l'impression d'être transporter dans un monde fantasy :D
Philip Lober is an inspiration to all who wish to pursue a career/hobby in music.
That last song, Alive, was absolutely beautiful. The others were phenomenal as well! But Alive stole the show, well done Phil Lober!
All the songs are beautiful but "Alive", for me, is everything, is dreams, is live... Love. ❤
Thanks... ❤
Man I love Splicer!! So Good, So Epic, Thank God for Phil Lober and for Pandora sharing his work!
