Excellent video! While your instruction is fantastic for beginners grasping the fundamentals, I'd like to offer a point for consideration. The full extension of both elbows, as you suggest, is primarily applicable to over-pitched deliveries. When encountering shots played on the rise, slightly bent elbows allow for better control to meet the ball cleanly under the eye, preventing it from being pushed upwards. Additionally, at advanced levels, half-volleys become less frequent compared to length or shorter balls and even if one extends the top hand that would not happen at contact with the ball but rather after the ball has already left the bat. Similarly, when encountering swing, the best option is to let the ball come and play it late. If the hands are extended then the point of contact would have to be quite in front of you which would again prevent you from playing the ball late. Perhaps tailoring your teaching approach to catch these nuances could be beneficial for advanced players, whose games often involve a more personalized and strategic style. Thanks!
At the point of contact, the top elbow has to be bent upwards if the head and eyes are going to be as close to the ball as possible. I can't see how his advice is helpful, honestly, as it is just encouraging the hands to get away from the head and body. In England, this would result in getting bowled through the gate and snicking off far more often. I think the whole power hitting craze is actually causing technique to decline. If what a batsman is doing forces the hands and bat to get away from the eyes for the sake of extension, then the chance to hit the ball consistently is only going to reduce, not improve. We're overcomplicating this. Just get your eyes as close to the ball as possible, which means contacting the ball late/underneath your head/eyes.
Excellent sir. But the emphasis so far has been on playing with high elbows. Have seen young batters getting selected just because they play with high elbows. Thank God your video is really refreshing. Thank you so much sir
High elbow for defence only. This makes you defence very close to the body which is called a great defence.
Best coaching channel .
Thanks a lot sir 🤗🤗🤗

Thanks a lot Owais
This is probably for lofted drives, but for grounded drives the tophand elbow angle needs to be maintained by batsman to ensure that face of bat is towards the ground on impact, sometimes this technique is called high elbow technique........ By the way you are really a great coach
Whatever happened to playing ball late and under eyeline. I am not questioning technique shown as many of his videos are pure gold, but won't this cause the ball to be hit in the air if the ball comes a tad slow or batsman plays a little early
Also, both hands are supposed to make a diamond shape is what we learmed
Exactly what I was thinking, playing away from the body and a bit early
Can't agree more, playing too early without letting the ball come to you can mean less control over the ball and the direction of shots.
No way you can play under your eye with this technique. High chance to miss timed and ball in the air. So safer to play under your eye with bend top hand and hiding the bottom hand behind it. The technique he shows I really doubt that will work for advanced players as advanced bawlers will change their tac tics to mis timed the ball.
High elbow means playing closer to your body straight elbow means playing away from your body
Best top hand drill I have ever seen

Koushik Mondal
New videos coming out in a couple of weeks
That is a good point . I just have one question IS HIGH ELBOW GOOD WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING FORWARD DEFENCE
Yes
Sir i have heard often cricket is a top hand dominated game. And your top hand should be firm while batting. So should a right handed person bat left handed just because right hand stays at the top and can bring more firmness in the shots ? There are many players who are ambidextrous like the legend Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Michael Clarke, Ben Stokes and lot more. Want your opinion on this ??
Very very good and critical training.
Thank u sir.Only from your video I am learning cricket.Kindly upload some leg spin bowling drills
Sir so good with practice sections
Excellent technique- thank you
Wow i did not know that, brilliant analysis
Great video, sir. It improved my game a lot

Really great video sir
It's great video this is, that's what all I can say. :)
Wait
But when the ball meets the bat everyone's arm is straight as you said
It is folded only after the completion (both the batsman)
Yes, you are right. Not questioning his techniques though.

Eye opening video!
Plz make video on judge the line and length of bowler plzz
i am impressed and subscribed
cant agree with this i have seen masterclass video of root and de villers their top is not stretched it his bent, feels like I am playing far too front of my body so the chances are I will most probably edge the ball, so cant say this the correct approach
I agree with you. Extending the arm will mean you’ll hit the ball too early and get caught or nick it to the keeper or slips. I’ve never seen any international player practice this or play this way.
This Video is good but it looks like you are reaching to hit the ball, hence knicking off.
wow sir extermly amazing coaching
Excellent video
సూపర్ క్లాస్ ట్రక్ sir
Sir please make a cover drive drill video
I’ve never seen anyone teach extending the top elbow and straighten it. It just does not make sense to do this in a match. This will mean you’ll hit the ball too early and get caught or nick it to the keeper or slips. I’ve never seen any international player practice this or play this way.
Exactly. Whatever happened to playing ball late and under eyeline
Also, both hands are supposed to make a diamond shape is what we learmed
agree
Great video sir
Super tips sir
Roubby Baghel
Thank you Roubby
Sir ur a very good coach
Very easily put 👌
It really helped me sir
Seriously cricket and golf are two different..In cricket , batsman tries to keep the ball down and drive whereas in golf, one is suppose to hit the ball long as one can, so that he aims to hit the ball 45 degrees to the ground. any student who jas learned his physics would tell the rational behind the 45 degrees. In cricket, if your bottom hand extended, it will cause to lift the ball, and may be caught. One the thing is that, onece both hand extended , you are suppose to hit the ball im front of your eyes or chin. It is well accepted that ball should be played under the eye rather than front of it.
I agree with you. Extending the arm will mean you’ll hit the ball too early and get caught or nick it to the keeper or slips. I’ve never seen any international player practice this or play this way.
Cover Drive drill and shadow video
really got another mystery unlocked here..........never taught like that sir......
really great.......
thanks a lot sir....& love you very much.....
I've a request sir....plz post a video on wicket keeping.... I'm really struggling with bpdy.movement....... don't know why its happening........ its like my body in the crouch position & its not moving at all.......
Mohsin Mahin
We will be posting videos on Wicket keeping
Super sir..
This is a humble question. Can you tell one international batsman who uses this technique which you now taught us . If you dont know let me know i will answer . Take it as a healthy conversation
Yes
But both are right
The point is
Both the batsman in the video are playing the drive correctly
The arm is very Correct and straight when the ball meets the bat
So it is folded only after the connection
At the point of connection the arm will be straight only
The reason play correctly bawler is not throwing like advanced bawler. it's just throwing the ball but still can control. Once it starts swing this is not going to work with variable speeds.@@darshanm2518
Thank you 🙏🙏 so much sir I am also doing this mistake
Sir I am facing such problem in my batting but I am unable to find it out please help me I am depressed
Waao what knowledge
av style Glad you like it
Yess sir
This straight hand extend arm drill for drives
While playing cover drive my ball goes in air so which hand I am using top hand or bottom hand . How to fix that problem
Later contact with the ball. Play the ball under your eyes. Forget your hands. They will take care of themselves. Just get your eyes to the ball so that you hit the ball with your head over the top of it. If you want to hit the ball over the top, then contact the ball earlier/a bit more in front of your head.
Super
But coaches suggest to play with high elbow
exactly what i thought... but i guess t20 batting u need more strength for aggressive batting
Wwoooowww jussstt wooowww
cricket is a simple game of watch and hit don't over complicate it! thats why most of the cricketers don't succeed!
Hifi tip sir
whoever dislikes any of his videos i hope you get a duck every game.

Thank you
@@RajasthanRoyalsAcademyUK doing a great job sir these little key points really start to make me realise you can never stop learning. always areas to improve on. Thank you for your time and support.
I am pleased that you like it
It's just like Virat kohli's cover drive
Total BS would not last 2 mins against good bowling, anyone can hit a full half volley
Robert Hands
Robert , this is coaching channel, we are giving tips for free to many cricketers ( young) who are learning the game . I hope you will realise that it’s not about going out and smashing a cricket ball it’s a learning opportunity. I am not sure what you really mean with your comment? This is for grass roots young aspiring cricketers and cricket coaches . I hope I am clear now and you will understand the ethos of our channel
Robert Hands
Also you are right if you have a falling technique , you won’t last against any opposition. So we are trying to build foundations for sound technique .
@@RajasthanRoyalsAcademyUK if it's a learning opportunity would you like me to teach you how to coach it correctly
bhai ipl mein ni chalega ye technique 😁

Boss IPL khelne ke liye pehle bat utahana sikhana parta hai . This is for the young cricketers who are learning the game . Also look at Rohit Sharma , Virat Kohli , Steve Smith and Kane Williamson. It’s their strong technique which allows them to play all the formats . Hope you are convinced now

So u can told that high elbow is not technically rgyt .. ????? Sorry to say that but it's senseless nd u cant compare golf to ckt ... can any single golfer play golf with high elbow or bending the elbow simply not , because it's golf not ckt ... golf nd baseball r yes help u to genrate power on shot but thats can't be the case u take stance like them ....high elbow always be the first priority for good technique....
Birendra Adhikari
Hi Birendra , I completely agreee with you are saying , however you have not really understood what I am trying to teach here . Off course high below is good , provided it’s the top hand elbow which is high and extending towards the ball , sometimes with young batters , instead of high elbow with the top hand , they start bending the bottom hand and thus a lot of bottom shots happen . When you see me hit some balls in this video , you will notice that my elbow is still bent but it’s towards the ball . I am just explaining the role of the two hands for the batter .
@@RajasthanRoyalsAcademyUK Please watch Sachin Tendulkar.
He never had this extended right arm in his cover drive.

Sorry i m not agreed sir
So basically you r trying to say is to extend your top and bottom hand towards the ball
