    UW nations that struggle to get onto land like Pelagia, R'yleh or a nation like Ys where your cap is UW and extremely important are in a bad place this version, so many water destroying spells and no way to cover the weakness of being water bound. I wish that there was a water version of the poor-amphibian global that made aquatic-only into amphibians too.

      EA R'yleh would love some global or something to get their most powerful mages onto land that doesn't involve needing to use their pretender or empowering to be able to forge amulet of the fish as none of their mages have Water 1 and Air 1 and it also requires construction 5 (This is mostly because they lack a chest slot which would allow them to wear Shambler Skin Armor which only requires Water 1 and Construction 3)

      And also there just need to be general Gift of Airbreathing stuff. The ability exists in the game, and can be modded (with a lot of effort), it just needs to exist on a bunch of vanilla summons and items.

    About ordeal by fire - Debug sensei interaction:
    Debug Sensei is immune to fire damage due to new percentage based elemental damage reduction so they take 0 damage.

    I like that there are late game counters to underwater. One of the more irritating strengths of UW is they can just turtle, cast huge globals, and hide in their unassailable domain. These provide the threat at least that you can't necessarily just wait-to-win underwater. It's still a 9th level spell, so any nation casting this has taken a serious hit to their tempo to do so. 9th level spells just have such a high opportunity cost in Dom6. So it feels balanced.

    Arcane Decree: Did you miss the last line, in yellow/brown? It says exactly by how much it reduces stuff: By half of the Arcane Decree Overcast. Only question is it reduces only the overcast, or if it can reduce the cast enough that it fails even if unopposed.

    Haven't seen it mentioned in the comments, but Eternal Twilight results in all glamour mages having +1G all of the time not just in combat.

      Currently trying and failing a singleplayer Tir na n'Og playthrough. This glamour stuff is wacky, any advice?

    Eternal Twilight sounds like a cute global. I imagine the entire world becoming odd and fae-like, and tinged with the oranges and purples of dusk. And maybe the effect is not dramatic enough to make anyone so angry that they all start ganging, perhaps figuring that all armies are being drained equally, so really what's the difference.

    50 fire resistance will negate 100% of remaining fire damage, which is another way to counter Ordeal by Fire

    Wonderful changes! These are elaborate and interesting globals that should really switch things up in multiplayer. I'm sure the community are gonna have a ball figuring out devious ways to screw one another over with them!

    Another honourable mention could be Mother Oak, which now gives +2 growth in the province.
    Not a huge change, but this was already one of the first globals to get cast in many multiplayer games in Dom 5, so I think we'll see it a whole lot in Dom6 as well.

    Poor Amphibian Tag
    Dominions 5: CS -half, Att -3, Def -3, Enc +1
    Dominions 6: CS -half, Att -1, Def -2, Enc +1
    I'm not completely sure how the CS thing impacts the fighting underwater and maybe it was a placebo effect, but I noticed my Vanheim thugs did significantly better after casting Windrunner in Dominions 5.
    The other important part about CS is getting off the field when you've lost a fight. Tritons and Water Elementals are pretty fast so if you're moving 2 tiles a round you'll likely die before making it off the field. Additionally, if your SC's have low CS you're setting yourself up for turn timer cheese as well.

    Arcane Decree I think is most interesting in a disciples game where you have some astral power on your team dedicated to global control for the team.

    Another spell that also got some very interesting changes that you didn't cover was Well of Misery, that instead of an income bonus, it gives +2 growth worldwide, +5 growth in the province it's cast. It definitely means it's a bit "cheaper" for some nations to go for death scales. And might cause quite a few extra forest to pop for nations that haven't.

    Winds of Arcane Drought also says "Sites and rituals that extend the range of air rituals from a province will help the winds reach further" so maybe you could drain from provinces 7 or maybe 8 distance away how useful that is I am not so sure as I am not so sure how likely you are to find any such site

    The +1 ritual blood for blood moon seems like it'd be huge for nations with limited number of blood mages that can do the kind of summoning ritual spam they want to. Like, skipping an empowerment for your main blood guy is neat, but getting all your Vanjarls to B2A2 so they can summon storm demons, no gear needed, is excellent.

    Celestial rainbow did not yet place (max) luck scales into Ulm's provinces, so the spell blocking part of the global did not yet apply.

    Not a global but another big change is Wish spell, wishing for gems got buffed. Now when you wish for gems you get 30 of each type and 0 pearls. Alchemizing them back to pearls gives you net 5 pearls or 10 of the gem type you want. Using with nexus/pearl farming is still just bonkers. Using it in the guaranteed alteration site in nexus is pretty good too.
    I'll do the math for Pelagia/Erytheia wishing for gems in nexus with arcane nexus up.
    Cost : 80 pearls
    Gains:
    30 W -> farmed for 30 S
    6*30=180 F A E G D N gems used for forging/rituals
    180/4 = 45 S gems absorbed by Nexus
    80 - 45 - 30 = 5 pearls real cost
    Net gain 175 gems per wish caster.

      Counterpoint: it now takes twice as long to research both of them, since both Wish and Arcane Nexus are going to take as much research points as it would have previously taken to unlock both of them at once. Not that Nexus Wish Farming was every anything but a very-lategame strategy, but that still gives your opponents 4 or 5 more turns before you can start.

    Arcane decree overcasting could result in a strong incentive to form a semi-permanent alliance with one or more players.
    Everyone helps overcasting as much as possible arcane decree, then everyone gets equal share of the gemprod.
    The one doing it would need serious diplomancy ( an alteration cost reduction site would help ) because the whole alliance have a strong incentive to protect the rituals host.
    The more i type about it, the less it seems realistic.
    Hope i'll be proven wrong tho !

      Yeah it could be very strong in the hands of some sort of alliance. The risk is that person holding the global up could cast something without the other party...

    Put up Winds of Arcane Drought in a province where you have a gate to nexus (or open a gate to nexus where you have cast Winds of Arcane Drought) now the spell will spread through nexus, possibly totally covering even a large map, if there is already many connections to nexus. Even if there is no connections to nexus yet, you can still help spreading the spell by opening connections to nexus in key border forts. (This is of course assuming the the spell can spread through nexus, but I see no reason why it couldn't)
    If you can cover the map with Winds of Arcane Drought you will be the only player in the game with air income (except for other globals with air income). This spell can be extremely powerful!

    When mentioning fata morgana in dom5 not being as good, just wanted to quickly mention that it hard counters (mass) vampire raiders. Something I experienced sending about 14 naked vampires into a TNN who had the global and having 13 of them die to PD alone. I am sure in dom6 it is even better now. (Script was your basic soul vortex/invuln + horde of skeletons + spells)
    For Ordeal by fire: Elemental resistance has both a flat and percentage component now, so that might be a way to dodge the damage. Twist fate amulet still the best...

    I'm not sure if the horror mark from Stellar Focus procs, or it's very rare - I ran it in an sp game for several turns on a province with 40+ researchers, and only lantern-bearers were getting horror marks. And the lanterns were made after SF was already up, so it's an effect that's at least much weaker than those.

      @@LucidTactics I was playing m3, and cast it in my cap. Brought the cap to m5, and the -1 everywhere else. I didn't have the anti-horror spell for another 6ish turns, and still did some casting and forging in the province. It could be bugged, or I'm misreading it: I was assuming it would have a chance of horror ticks like tainted items, but maybe it's +% horror events? Dunno.

      Seconding that currently magic 5 scales horror marking is probably bugged. I've seen 0 horror marks on hundreds of mages all researching under magic 5.

    I think the reason you got two messages for damage, is because you were using earth AND fire gems, do a d(gems) roll was made for both. I don't know if drn is applied, but if it does, it will make things requiring multiple gem types more dangerous.

    For Winds of Arcane Drought:
    99 + 99 Air for 198 gems
    50 + 50 + 50 + 50 for Fire and Water 200 gems (assuming rounded up)
    25 + 25 for 50 gems (assuming rounded up)
    Total is 250 non-air gems which is converted at 2 to 1 for 125 Air + the initial 198 Air above = 323 Air gems. Meaning I think the rest of the sites totaled ~4 more gems + any differences in rounding for the math above. Maybe there's a little variation, but it doesn't seem like there's more randomness than a basic DRN if there's even a DRN involved.
    Would have been good if you walked debug sensei mages around and site searched everything to calculate exactly.
    Some places I see it being useful based on what you hinted at:
    If you're about to fight a war where you anticipate intense raiding in your own lands. You can put up this global as an F U to the elves or birds attacking you to ruin a lot of the most useful potential gem spoils they might get, and those nations really do still love air gems even if they've got new glamor paths.
    If you are birds or elves, you could put this up to fuel a war with a neighbor by giving you tons of air gems to fight with.
    You can use this global to fuel control of other air globals as well if it's a core part of your strategy.
    It's unfortunate you can't use it to starve a pearl farming nation of water gems or a water nation of earth gems when they're trying to sink provinces especially since coastal provinces are typically higher population.

    Be interested in hearing your thoughts on the new summon/globals.. e.g. 'Summon Dwarf of the 4 Directions' - where there's a stacking glass bal wffectfor each one you summon - and if all 4 are summoned (by any players).. then there's a global darkness and storm...

    Actually one of my favorite new rituals is being able to magic phase on whole batches of gems and magic items onto specific mages with air! The whole magic phase game is going to change, with gem baiting being countered entirely by remote restocks. Or mages that otherwise we're naked suddenly turning into thugs with their backup army having left elsewhere! It's really exciting
    Edit: technically you could in fact use the math from the whirlwind global to discover how many sites you're missing within the distance of the center province. That is if you control every province within 6 of the whirlwind. Good to put up before someone elses global if you're expecting it to go down almost immediately after

    Could you use arcane degree to try and jediblock a global dispel or would the order be random? Opponents probably need two turns to dispel a big global, one for the probe and another one for dispelling so would putting up arcane decree on the second turn work?

    I'd like to hear more about Glamour in general. It seems like it's pulled some of the Air elemental spells into it along with illusion stuff.
    Some of these globals are a bit confusingly worded though. Even for Dominions it's a bit awkward doing mathematics equations to figure out how much damage your spell does, this should probably be represented in-game a bit better.

    Great videos series, any idea how to remove the batcoords and worldcoords in yellow text that have appeard in the top right of my battle screens? I must have hit the keybind accidentaly and now i cannot remvoe it. Any help would be welcolm.

    did they change it so that all nations can build underwater forts?
    because if that's the case there's some freespawn nations that would love to lock every other nation out of the ocean, and give themselves a bonus to eating the coastline while they're at it. Bonus, it kills off the lakes of your opponents as well. Forts protect 1000 population from deathscale, right? so it's not like they burn to nothing if you fort things up or cancel the spell after boiling the worst opposition to death.
    On the downside, an opponent with a lake can kill off all of underwater from just one lake.
    EDIT: Oh it's one of the Research 9 options, and it's Thaum. That's not so bad, you're passing up some real badass tools if you take. Which means you probably need it p bad

    Elemental Dampening also means EAFW self buffing becomes much MUCH weaker by vritue of being far more interruptable. Ironskin+Temperflesh is what, 400% total cast time? 200% for just one means flyers can interrupt every time?

    You properly get 2 messages from 1 mage by the ordeal of fire, because you are forging an item that requires 2 different types of gems. so you are properly taking 1D10 from the fire gems the item cost and 1D5 from the earth gems.

    Poor amphibian in dom 5 is CS - half, -3 Att, -3 Def, Enc +1, so it is much easier to fight underwater for land nations now. Also in Dom 6 swimming reduces the poor amphibian penalties to just -1 Def, Enc +1

    I think its more of a tool when 2 people are on equal footing after fighting others to carve out a big edge that needs to be addressed while you can use gems in fights more

      It's already active - linked in Steam forums and Lucid's discord. It just doesn't have all effect codes included yet and is still work in progress for all of the fine details.

    Honestly, that twist fate solution to Ordeal of Fire is just so disappointing given how easy the amulets are to get. I hope they rework it to be something more like two hits of d(gems/2) or such. It would mean fire resistance is useful in high enough amounts, and twist fate would be useful, but neither would make you immediately immune.

      In terms of combat, yes, in some contexts it will require forging some gear, but unless the burning condition has been strengthened it's not much that's needed to counter it. Fighting in cold scales or rain, or any amount of fire resistance (which F,W,E,N mages can just cast, either before or after setting themselves on fire), or regeneration, will basically neuter it.
