I love how the bit where it turns out their pardon was approved was VERY in line with an actual campaign where the players get too excited about putting their "clever" escape plan into effect and commit to it before the DM has a chance to reveal that the Charisma check their Bard just made was REALLY not that difficult and they succeeded with ease.
We had one lawful good in a party of chaotic neutrals, and she absolutely had been the only one holding them back from batshit shenanigans on multiple occasions. After 15 levels and 6 years of play, they finally corrupted her PC and she’s now true neutral lmao. So I had to do exactly the two things you mentioned
Considering it was originally written to be Drizzt before they removed all drow from the movie, it's more like 'DM removed a module NPC to put his OC in' vibes.
They’re exactly the kind of decisions a group of people burnt out after a day at work and wanting to just chill out with friends around a DnD board would make
It was established that Xenk has excellent hearing, even when Edgin tries to whisper. Given that, does anyone else wonder if Xenk was originally going to just walk around the rock, but changed his mind because he could hear Edgin’s commentary?
i read on honest trailer's comment section of their DnD trailer that Jean actually didnt know he was recorded or even being told how he was supposed to walk out, even Chris Pine's comment was not in the script, they really wondering how Jean gonna walk through the rock and he literally did walk over it 😭😭 which actually captures the naive flat Paladin NPC character and its just really my favorite funny moment 😂😂
There was so much concern about “making it feel like a dnd game, because all games are different.” But they figured out how to do it, because even though the stories are different, the shenanigans and idiodicies are a near universal part of dnd
I heard a DM sigh in resignation at the whole portal painting gambit. I heard the roaring laughter of player and DM as the sorcerer failed his concentration check on major image, and the description of what happened thereafter. I could feel the DM yes-and-ing a player asking out of character if the red dragon was like, REALLY fat. I could hear the druid describing how the owlbear pummelled the red mage into the ground and the natural 20 on the throw earning the coup de gras via statue. It was just so brilliant.
Meanwhile I was spending the entire movie looking at the characters and figuring out which members of my group would most likely be playing each character. I was spending most of the movie thinking to myself “Holga really is a character I’d be playing, right down to having weird hyperfixations about food, stupid plans that wouldn’t work and random NPC’s”
It's been so long since I've been in a D&D game where a VTT wasn't doing the math for me. Completely unrelated, but the games tend to go faster and I'm a lot more effective.
The one where they figued out how to give questions to the zombie was down right hilarious. I died laughing because it is something I would totally do in a campaign.
@@coltwolf9117 No, actually the other way around. Dramatic overkill has been a thing in DnD for decades - players never just kill an enemy. They always want to make it sorry for existing in the first place.
My kind of paladin follows the oath of the ancients; someone who protects and inspires the light in others, while vanquishing those who wish to burn it out
If you watch closely at the paladin when hes walking away you can see him in the background of the next few shots and he starts climbing a cliff in a perfectly straight line made me laugh super hard when i noticed it

Chris's encouraging "Oh we got them now :D!" 0:22 is how I am in most co-op games. I'm the one who walks into traps, lava, pits of death ect but all the while encouraging my boyfriend that he can do what I couldn't lol
You missed one honestly, when Edgin freed himself and whacked the executioner with his reinforced lute, making him lose his axe that Holga takes while it was sent flying. But this movie has finny scenes for sure.
She’s biracial. The actress/character is biracial. Granted, I kind of agree that the baby version of the daughter has a much darker skin tone than the older self.
Bards aren't meant to be fighters, they inspire their team, motivate them to be better, and that worked well for Simon considering his self-esteem issues, so Rian is wrong

That is exactly what I was thinking.
The biggest threat to the party is always the party itself 😂
Rolled like a 12 on a dc 10 check and didn't think it succeeded
@@UMCorian dugon of dragon 💡
normally for me it's rolling too well then the dm has to go along with the insanity iv made.
The paladin has big "party has gone so far off track, so DM makes an NPC to get party back on track" vibes
Alternatively, the DM gets a really experienced player for a couple sessions to ensure that the party is competent enough to get the thing.

@@KarazolaXmore like “remove the module main protagonist” because, well, that’s Drizzt
The "But we approved your pardon!" line disarmed me so hard. I knew we were in good hands with this movie from then on out.
Half of the actions they took would make absolutely no sense for any reasonable person, that's exactly why it's accurate.
They’re exactly the kind of decisions a group of people burnt out after a day at work and wanting to just chill out with friends around a DnD board would make
The "im bad at math" part was soo relatable not gonna lie😂😂

The paladin walks the straight and narrow path of righteousness, never straying left nor right.
That's a hilarious thought 😂

Yeah, that was one of the funniest bits in this film :)
Hilarious AND a great way of showing how concentration spells work
The utter terror in that guard’s

The one where they figued out how to give questions to the zombie was down right hilarious. I died laughing because it is something I would totally do in a campaign.
Poor Jarnathan, if I was him I'd never work in a place where people will try to use me as a means of escape
You see thats why they turned the window into a wall
I understand the humor in this movie so much better now that I started playing DnD. It's fucking brilliant.
This is like the majority of d&d sessions we've ever played. It's awesome
the bard illusion scene i was lmao for the first time in YEARS
Great movie
also when Holga throws the potato at Forge in slowmo haha and
Dorik's reaction to seeing Xenk talk nonsense to that one villager
Yeah, it gives off that ‘skip monologue’ vibes lol 😂
I loved when Edgin said "Holga, not helpful." and "Holga, not relevant."
Can't believe you didn't include the Intellect Devourers and Doric/Druid owlbear going all hulk on the red mage
The owlbeat hulk thing was kinda at the end
@Colt Wolf
Never saw that as a bad thing since no one expected that to happen.

This movie was incredible, I can't wait for more cool "Campaign" esque adventures on screen.
"She's throwing potatoes!"
And
"Oh Jarnathon!"
Really gets me laughing 😂
But there is so many more! the "can someone else ride next to this guy" scene made me laugh out loud like i havent in a long time.
0:13 I laughed so hard at this part
The funniest scene (potato to Hugh Grant’s face) is oddly omitted in this collection.
2:58 The Edgin illusion's face is still hilarious for me.
Fully expecting to see the magnificence that is Themberchaud
"It must have found a new lair!"
"Did he eat the last one?"
I loved this movie so much. I hope there is going to be sequel
The intellect devourer scene with the “that’s just hurtful” line is brilliant too
The owl bear at the end.
Edgin's reaction when Simon stepped on the bridge!
"Hey look, someone f***** up and it wasn't me for a change!"
Also let’s not forget the Nat 20 at throwing a potato to save Kira.

Such a fun film, too bad there won't be more, especially with that cast.
0:07 OH JARNATHAN 😂
2:58 When the Druids so called "Edibles" kicks in.
The part where Xenk just walked over the boulder and dropped like a NPC 😂

the only error of this movie was the black baby turning into a white kid, the rest is just perfect and funny as hell.
