Team yellow for me! The 250 and the TDF together are stunning
David Lee is a real car guy! He loves to share the automotive knowledge and take people that share the same passion as him for rides in his fabulous cars and that's what it's all about! Really a nice, humble and down to earth person that deserves all the success in the world! It's great that we can go along for the journey with videos like this one!
Cool! David hasn't posted in months, nice to see his collection again 👍
There is a yellow 288.
288 GTO #47649 the 5th prototype was retained by the factory until 1987.
Originally red it was repainted yellow by the factory (along with retrofitted aircon and electric windows) before it was sold to a long term customer.
I don't know if it's the same car, but there's a chap who attended Gumball3000 n a few other historic rallies such as Targa Florio in a yellow 288 GTO. That one too was supposedly resprayed yellow from the factory early on in its life. The owner is an absolute savage too. He was really gunning it during the event, exactly how one should. 😉
Great comment from David about the Joy being in the hunt.
Kudos to David Lee for always remaining such a down to earth and genuinely nice guy.
David Lee is such a cool genuine down to earth person, one would never know that he is such an influential and powerful person in business and the owner of one of the most amazing Ferrari collections in the United States. Great video 👍🏻
David seems like a real car guy and a all around nice guy
David Lee always seems like such a nice down to earth guy. Does he have a full time mechanic and detailer on staff? He must also have a serious security system. Gone in 60 Seconds comes to mind.
This guy is a legend. What a collection, great vid Sam. Keep up the great work
Great video, and David is a humble, fun, and entertaining guy. I prefer the yellow color over the red but like green or blue over both.
The carspotter taking pics at 10:17:)
David is the nicest guy on UA-cam , always willing to help people and even let them drive his cars !! Big thumbs up for him 👍
Great LA garage vlog Sam, thank you. Beautiful machines.
Maybe one day Mr Lee visits London and drives your 360.
I have enjoyed your Californian reports greatly, an extra 👏
On colours, the stunning Pista, smashing it out of the park.
Quite taken by Bianco Avorio or Azzuro La Plata on a F12.
Cool seeing two petrolheads sharing the fun and passion!
I love that David shares his collection on social media, others with a collection of such rare cars don't really do that. Giallo and rosso both would be boring without having the other color next to it I guess. Also love the spec on David's other cars, specially the Pista Spider and the Huayra.
Humble and nice guy
As a big fan of the channel - I’m missing the STG signature adventure/day out videos - visiting US collectors feels very Shmee-150, which does get extremely repetitive in my opinion.
Hi Sid, I have a spreadsheet here, and I am collecting feedback. I have added this to the "Too much like Tim Burton, he'll be wearing blue socks next" tab.
Please feel free to advise if you think it is in the wrong section and I'll correct.
Will be sending it to Sam on 23/12/22
Regards
Wow beautiful collection , love the Classics and modern mix
That 250 is one of the prettiest cars I've ever seen, absolutely beauty 😍
I wish I had that situation in my life.... "Wait a minute, I should collect the big 5 all in yellow" Love it!
UA-cam has some of the most humble rich guys like David Lee, Manny, Steve Hamilton.
He is really an outstanding ferrari cars collector! Pretty nice guy, i would say!! 😯😲😎
Great edit and music Sam 👍🏻
I pick the red side but the Daytona looks best in yellow. Also i would choose a Testerossa/512TR in yellow over red.
What a cracking video. I’ve not heard of David Lee before and seeing his channel will keep my busy over Xmas! It looks like he has some tasty motorbikes there too.
He has an amazing collection of what he loves and that’s all that matters. I love most Italian cars but I think I would vary the manufacturers when I start my collection after I drop several lottery wins!
Some years ago on, I think, Top Gear there was Chris Evans showing his Ferraris of which a lot were in yellow. Iirc he even had a few repainted from red to yellow which made me wince somewhat. Yellow on a car just doesn’t work for me for some reason. Anyway, I’m in awe of what I’ve just seen and I’m grateful that he allows other fans to see his outstanding collection. 🍺
Do a search for Doug Demuro. He visited Lee's garage a while back. I forget what ferrari he reviewed.
Will do, thanks Steven 👍 🍺.
Ah Darren, well remembered on the colour. He was a good sport wasn’t he? He let Capt. Slow drive one of his most valuable cars (I think I?). 🍺
@@olderbutnowiser6701 I lusted after that white 288GTO of his! A lot of them were classics (Dino and older) and he had an F40, too, but I know the purists absolutely hated him for it!
@@olderbutnowiser6701 Evans had a black 250 California that he allowed James May to drive. 👍
Yellow Ferraris work for me. I remember reading somewhere that yellow was Enzos favorite color. My first new car purchase in 1976 was colored yellow.
David need the 288GTO too. pretty nice collection!
Great video, yellow Enzo looks so good 👍
One never gets tired of a David Lee’s Ferrari collection tour.
So Posh! lol I love David Lee's Collection. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! (Even seen through the glass of my laptop.)
Would love to get David’s thoughts on the GTO engineerings 250SWB
Super Collab! What I’ve been waiting on. Manny’s collection next?
A question that did not need to be answered, but glad you did!
Great collection David
I can't remember how many times here on UA-cam I've seen that collection of David Lee already.
That pista spec is so good
Yyyeess! Love the video's. David is great. What a collection. Kindest regards, Richard U.K
One of the best Ferrari collections out there. It's nice to see the Big 5 in something other than red.
I don't even think David Lee cracks the top 25 Ferrari collections in the world... It's a good Ferrari collection but not one of the best by any stretch.
Having 1 red and 1 yellow of a certain Ferrari model, makes it better than just having 2 cars…. I especially love the combo.
i don't understand how STG has only 554k subscribers this guy has amazing content!
Reading comprehension isn't your strong suite. You forgot the K. 554k. That's 554.000 followers.
What i meant was 554k not 554 if u look at other you tubers with silly content and twice as much subscribers you will know what i mean
@@savethemanuals9448 Nah...we meant 554. Then you go edit it. lol
STG has silly content? That's funny...no I don't know what you mean.
David Lee is the Ferrari king! 👑
We could just have an episode on the 250 lusso... Good lord, that is a beautiful car.
David is like the opposite of Jay Leno. David collects only Ferraris while Leno has everything except Ferraris
Hi mkygod, you're not wrong in this observation. It actually goes deeper than that, they really are quite opposite. Apparently, due to the difference in compasses they carry in case of a sudden and chronic loss of location, they legitimately repel each other.
Sounds bonkers, but I can assure you it's true.
Regards x
@@PatrickBateman1337 Except David did appear in some episodes of Jay Lenos Garage where he lets Jay drive his Ferraris
@@mkygod interesting, do you know if they were both carrying their compass?
So what was the blue on the SF90 in the end??
I always love a posh yuppy laugh it just makes my day..!😁
I'd like to know how US legislators thought that the added small black bumper on the F40 would somehow make a difference in a crash or hitting a pedestrian!!!!
Hi Alun, in the 50s, they did many tests around how energy is dissipated based on colour. They ascertained that due to black absorbing the most energy from the sun, when another energy (kinetic) came into effect, it sheds that energy like nobodies business. Hope that helps, regards x
People can hate on someone successful, who spends more on one cars service in 1 year than their total income, but that’s life. Some people work hard; are successful financially and can do this. The luxury in latter years is that people can view this and not receive the bill! As a V12 Ferrari owner who isn’t a billionaire this is golden!
Where are the 288 GTOs? My favorite Ferraris and the big one from David’s childhood years.
I know Sam is doing his usual professional job but I’d have loved just to see Tony standing and his thoughts when he was probably there too.
This video confirms the F12 TDF IS my favourite Ferrari including the classics! Its taken me 3 years to admit it haha
are those gear changes a bit slow in the Enzo?
David Lee has got to be one of the most giving, unselfish, down to earth multimillionaires ever.
I’ve not even got enough money for a red toy car collection never mind a yellow one, that’s why we have people like David 😊
Running no plate on the enzo😮
The odd thing is, I rather liked the Blue one. Not what I expected.
Sam, what color blue is that SF90???
Why can I hear the Test Drive Unlimited garage music?
Yellow is the color of Ferrari.
The red color came from the color assigned to Italy in the car racing competitions in 1900s, as much racing green was the color assigned to UK, for instance.
We all know how important racing has always been for Ferrari from day one and this explains why red is considered from many people the distintive Ferrari's color.
Yellow Ferraris are possibly the purest Ferraris.
I’ve watched for years, and it’s taken me this long to notice you say ‘beautiful’ in the exact same tone as Gordon Ramsey when he’s talking about his food… I can’t un-notice it so I needed to share!
David is a legend!!
I too like a David. Many say Baddiel is the best David, but to me it will forever be Seaman. Not only was he called Seaman, but he was fantastic at snooker, a sport close to my heart.
Regards x
Great Ferrari collection I have only got three Ferrari's in my collection but feel privilege to have those. Many thanks.
Wow, this is crazy! Such an amazing collection! In couple of years I might be able to afford myself my 15,000euro weekend dreamcar too. xD
💛 if I had to shoes between red/yellow… but I’m a Blue Ferrari guy (or green but sooo rare)
I’ve noticed David Lee hasn’t posted in a while and glad he’s okay.
That yellow f50 is something else
Yellow for Me everytime!!! especially that 250 in the corner - Damn!!!!
The F40 is the F_0 car for me. Just simply simply perfect proportional design
Love the yellow, such a cheery colour.
There's a yellow 288GTO in Melbourne, Australia. Unknown if it's factory paint.
The 250 is my favorite of his collection.
Hi James, thanks for the update. If this changes, please reply to this reply. Regards x
You need a super precise car to drive around the cracked streets of San Gabriel.
Hi Garth, I'm not sure I understand. Are you suggesting the cars are wasted? Or are you saying there are many obstacles, and the Ferrari is the needle of the car world, as it weaves through the cracked streets? I'll look forward to your reply. Regards x
I can't overstate how much I HATE YELLOW, however, the only car/s I'd ever get in that color would be a Ferrari. Something about that Triple Layer Paint just does wonder for the lines on those cars! Just WOW!!
Actually, the first and real Ferrari color was not Red, but Bright Yellow. Red is the color of the Modena city where Ferrari is located. Later on, the red color became the official Ferrari color.
That Ford GT didn’t sell on BaT today.
What happened to the 288 GTO?
Not going to lie, I hate the black headlight surrounds on the Giallo F50. I think Ferrari made the right call going to body-colored headlight surrounds on the later F50s (like the Rosso F50 immediately across).
I would choose the bike in the back...
I think I prefer the yellow strangely as the colour shows off the aero details better.
Does anyone knows what happened to his red 288 GTO?
Your channel is so underrated. I'd have to go red.
That enzo looks mad in yellow, what a good looking car, absolute insanity.
Love that Pista.
@davidlee there is actually 1 yellow 288 gto it was the prototype and the only one to leave the factory not in red 47649
David Lee is a class act.
David’s Ducati collection looks equally impressive
Yellow side for me 💛
Where did he get a yellow f40
I would pick Yellow......! Thank you David..!!!
No poseur shields of the SF90 Spyder for the win
9:23 simple answer: it's the best Ferrari colour!
this whole time I thought it was David Lee Roths collection, then I was like who is this dude?
330GTS, Sam. Spyder/Spider
I am done with red Ferraris, so Giallo for me!
Sam, I watched your original video with David Lee back in the day. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years! You still have the best, most artistic, car videos with the best intros and b-roll shots. Keep it up!
That’s very kind. Thanks for sticking around that long!
