Manikarnika ghat is sacred for me cause it is where i found the true meaning of life by grace of mahadev "Life and death goes hand in hand , both are permanent result all are temporary" mother ganga is from which life emerges and into her we all disolve. Har har mahadev, jai ma ganga, jai sri krishna 😊

A tourist who never went back. Baba Shiva Das(Alessandro) was Italian and came to Bharat in 1977 with his friend at the age of 22. When he stepped in Kashi he didn't return back, he spend his whole life on those ghats, left everything in his life. His mortal body left in 2020.
Sense of reality, sense of attachment, urge to do something meaningful in life, finding an instant connection with the human who is on pyre, empathy for the men who do this work day in and day out, considering humans as something more than flesh blood, respect for the river... So many feelings come in.

Hi guys. Pleas do try and visit the east, Calcutta, and then Darjeeling/Sikkim, for some old colonial/himalayan experience. If you're in Calcutta, I'd love to show you around.
6:17 There is no such thing that money is taken to enter the temple. There is no such thing that money is taken to enter the temple. And to go through any gate, no payment has to be made inside the temple.
They apparently take money from foreigners, can't remember the gate number but we went to literally every gate there was around the temple. In the end they sent us to the first gate we had started with and asked for money, so we decided to not do the same round again as nobody seemed to agree with the previous gate's information.
May I ask where do you get these numbers (about Varanasi I mean) To my knowledge evidence has been found that the city is more than 3000 years old and legends/ ancient epics of Hinduism talk of this place (then called Benares) to be nearly 10 000 years old. Yet what ever the number, it is eighter way quite impressive 😁
In not like a place to die, this is the misinterpretation that has developed, The Belief is that this place helps you to get over your conflicts in this life before you die.
I was born in a city 300km away from Varanasi(Banaras)…and I went to Banaras Hindu University … well I don’t remember ever going there to see the dead bodies burn… we use to go to the ghats and we could see where the dead are consigned to the fire… but it’s not a spectacle …it’s just a cycle of life … I just don’t understand the fascination with the cremation process …
I know its a religious and cultural practice and there's probably lots of reasons people still do it BESIDES from that, but every time I hear about people bathing in those rivers, I remember that _"Almost five billion liters of sewage flow into the river every day, only a quarter of which is treated. By Varanasi, the Ganges is an open sewer. Fecal bacteria at this point is 150 times higher than the safe level for bathing, let alone drinking."_ Then I gag at the thought. Q_Q The people who regularly bathe in that water must have an immune system of a god to be surviving and not just being constantly sick... AND they make it to elderly ages no less. I do not understand, I just know that I would 100% never go in that water and I would imagine it does not smell the best either (considering its where the sewage goes). You would think the government or something would have raised money and tried to change at least where the sewage goes, considering its such a holy water source..? D:
In India, Sanatanis (I mean Hindus) burn the dead, because, we perform rituals of the dead person by name "SHRAADDHA", it means, the dead persons boans are emersed in the River Ganga with which they attain "MOKSHA", means salvation. It is not only belief and it is written so in SHAASTRAAS and PURAANAAS. May be it is new to you, it has been there since Millions of years.
Adding more despite of everything the water of mother ganga never spoiled… if you keep it for months or for years it cleansed by itself ……. Scientific reason is presence of bactriophase microbes….. which occures not in another river around the globe…😊
@PAYMEORGETYOWRENCHSNATCHED If you think about life, it only has real value if we couldn't live forever. I value little moments because I know that they are impermanent. I value my family because I know someday, they will parish.

Which gate were you trying to go through, you have to pay ₹300 to go through that gate?
If I remember correctly, they asked double or triple that amount.
If you people wear sari and Indian spiritual and holi places, you get respect. You have choosen wisely to wear sari instead your western wear.
