Oh! I have a Prius. The B stands for brake. You use it when going down a mountain or so. It constantly engages the brake a bit and reduces the chances of your brakes failing going downhill. I also use that same spot for my box of tissues lol
It’s not backwards. It stands for braking. It lets the car engine break when you let off the accelerator. Similar to downshifting in a manual transmission car.
