Great job! The triplet rolls are a huge sticking point for me. I can't get them above about 165 without the quality suffering. I play traditional also, and I feel like building up my left hand fulcrum is the key. Better to just work the triplet roll exercise as written gradually up to speed, or do some specific exercises to strengthen the fulcrum?

Hi Larry, thanks for your compliment, much appreciated. What you are seeing is the product of learning all the different elements at a slower tempo, then working them up tempo gradually over time. The triplet rolls element is tricky because of its speed here, and being able to play that element well is a combination of: 1) relaxation, 2) hand speed and 3) figuring out the proper mixture of downward pressure from your thumb and/or index finger on the roll figures. Everybody has slightly different mechanics and I always emphasize with my students that we find the way that their hands & fingers work best, and then cultivate those mechanics. Hope this helps! I do teach via Skype and FaceTime, etc. also. Good luck!

i like the speed of your left hand and specially the position, but for a beginner like me wich is the right way to start, because the teachers generally say that the index finger must stay over the stick. My english is scholastic, i'm italian.Thank you

Cesare, I also teach my students to keep their index fingers on their left hand over top of the stick if they are playing traditional grip. Once you get some experience under your belt, however, you are going to find that playing technique is very specific to the individual, and what works for you might not work for me! Best of luck!
