    I took a course in Oxy-acet welding in Dallas some decades ago and that torch is still running. Get a big vise and find a table to rest it on (bolt down) and bend that blade in 5 minutes. The other impeller; put that in the vise and torch some heat on it and take a 14" pipe wrench and bend that sucker in 10 minutes and there you have it. Take that bent impeller to a welding shop and have them bend it true and you will have a spare or you can sell it on ebay for half price. I was running a 22" push mower when I was doing lawns as a kid and I hit a 14" log on end and it stopped the mower immediately. I turned the mower over and unbolted the blade to remove the log. Restarted the mower and I had bent the shaft on that little Briggs. I could see the shaft as bent and moved the blade to 90 degrees from the line of the shaft. Started that wobbling mower and ran it into the log and as luck it straightened the shaft. I would not do that again but I was only 10 years ago
    and did not know the danger involved. Scag blades are forged metal and they do not bend easily. The welding shop should be able to fix your impeller for $50 worth of heat and muscle.
    Good luck you two!

    Stay up Shawn & TQ, things happen that is out of your control. Very happy no one was hurt, & you just move on to another day. Considering the state of the world today, it could be a lot worse. Glad you put a positive spin on the experience Shawn, that’s why I continue to rock with you both. Keep mowing, growing, & making money. Try to have a good evening, & count the small blessings.💯❤️✊🏾🙏🏾

    All of my mowers are set up for mulching. Unless it's really tall, it looks just as good and is better for the lawn. I only have one small yard that I bag, and I charge significantly more to make up for the hassle. Also, I have three curve shaft Homelite weed eaters the newest of which is at least 20 years old and never had a problem running .095 line in them. I don't care for straight shaft weed eaters and only use them when weed eating a fence row. I do like to use .105 line in the straight shaft cause it lasts longer. I'm glad that your mower wasn't damaged worse. I hit a trailer jack once and had to replace one whole spindle as well as all three blades. That ended up costing almost twice what I made on the job, and that's with me buying just the parts and fixing it myself.

    That’s why I use the Oregon G6 blades. They are 1/2” wider and thicker then standard blade! They also have a carbide coating on the blade and don’t have to be re-sharpened as much. I also use their string trimmer line. It comes in a pre package roll and you just drop it in. Best part, it last a long time even when trimming along curbs.

    Wow I thought I had it bad. Last week both my blades destroyed and my spindles because of a huge rock no lie. Honestly I let the customer know I wasn’t happy. I keep that rock in my truck as a reminder to look before mowing cause it’s not cheap. Glad nobody got hurt and stay safe guys.

  • @sclawns5257

    thats why my feet are always on the lift bars for immediate response when I see or hear or feel anything. Fight or flight response activates legs first. If you are thinking you can turn blades off fast enough or maneuver to avoid unexpected obstacles it wont work. I weld secondary lift bars on all my mowers so I can lift with both legs simultaneously and often lift to avoid scalping over swells or when turning. I lift probably 30 times on an average yard other people never touch the thing but my yards look way better because my deck height is constantly adjusted for the terrain. The lift bar for my left leg I weld on angled back a little so both can be used simultaneously but one is ideal for high cuts and the other for low.

    Nice video and nice to see how your dealer took you on same day and so quickly. Lucky it didn't destroy a spindle. I typically mow around 4 inches for most of my customers. One question, why are you bagging clippings vs side discharging/mulching? Is the grass wet, which is why you're bagging to prevent grass clumps on the customer's turf area?

  • @daveallen4194
    @daveallen4194 4 роки тому +7

    You two will likely keep finding out how expensive it is to keep running baggers full time. You will wear out housing bearings. impellers (the fan you broke), pulleys, belts, blower tubes, bagger housings (usually an accidental turn clips something solid, and housing breaks parts). Not to mention extra fuel used, and time to dump, etc. Hope you are quoting substantially higher for all the bagger properties you run. Blessings

    When I was younger my Grandfather would give me rides on his mower when he came to mow our yard. He was the one to get me into outdoor work. He ended up giving me and my mom his mower because we have a larger yard than he does so it was easier for us to mow our yard then take it over to mow his and we had room for a larger shed to put the mower in as well. That mower ended up breaking and the repair cost was way to high so we ended up trading it for a slightly smaller mower. I have recently been thinking on starting a company and mowing yards is really what I would like to do. My family has been struggling and I used to have a job but had to quit due to medical reasons. I would really like to get a larger mower to be able to complete my yard and my grandparents yard to then start doing neighbors yards to start up my business. Considering mostly everyone in my neighborhood mowes their lawns on the same day it would really help to be able to have a larger mower to be able to get multiple yards done in a single day. The mower we have right now just isnt large enough to do that. If we were to win we would sell our current mower to buy a bagger for that one so that we are able to make peoples yard look nice by not leaving the mowed up grass behind. I do hope we can win it would truly mean so much to our family to finally be able to have another source of income.

    The metal found in meteorites will be shiny and look like chrome. The appearance of the metal will not be a shiny gray sheen, that is often seen on some Earth rocks. Iron metal grains in rocks can also look like a space rock and are good indicators.

    Both the blade and the impeller could easily be repaired. That guy is just a parts changer not a mechanic.

    So frustrating when you loose money because of the stupidity of some random person. But you kept a level head and handled the problem, Good on ya!
