@@loverboy6149 what other methods do you know of? i could only think of a damp sponge or shaving the sides. i haven't used pastels in ages but ultimately even though they are so messy, i mainly used to work with pastels particularly for drawing the human face. but they are stupidly messy and in all honesty that's one of the main reasons i stopped. living in a city where a hole in the ground can cost millions of dollars, space is at a premium and i feel like it's really hard to create art that tends to be accompanied by mess if you don't have access to studio space. obviously not everything creates mess but most of the mediums which blend really well do

In art universities I studied at, to reduce harmful chemical vapor, we used soft pine soap to wash oil paint from brushes. It works well and often comes in a huge block you just rub a brush to. And old linen and bedsheets were brought to the art studio to reuse as cloth pieces for oil paint brushes.
Part 3 please......I was 8 years old and your shorts and videos inspired me alot..... Now I am 12 and I sell my paintings and make money to get new art supplies......
The sponge is also good when your brush is soak in water, just pressing on it and you got rid of the excess water,or when on the canvas in many different ways.😊
Can I just say Ms. Rae is literally the best. I'm a kid, and even though she might not see this, she is my biggest role model in art. I want to be just like you when I grow up, Ms. Rae.
My favorite sculpting tool is a bent knitting needle I found at my grandma’s house. I regularly use nail polish bottles to add texture or smooth out sculptures, and I occasionally use needles to create really fine lines when painting
I actually use sponges for like skies and backgrounds, just cut of al lil piece, get some paint on it and boom, perfect background blending. I also use it for making clouds
If I recall right, she made it as merch because of having accidentally tried to drink out of her dirty paint water before lol. If it's not her merch I know for sure it's a youtube artist's merch! Pretty sure it's from her though :)

I use syringes to add water to my paints. I have a separate one to create a wash or a base layer. I just add paint to water and sip it up with a syringe and add bit by bit to my paper
help i just found you and u remind me sm of prykations u both have such amazing lineweight and your art is BEAUTIFUL!!! and ur also so fucking funny I LOVE THIS
SOMETHING I USE THATS A NON ART SUPPLY IS clay, just make a clay ball (like from a kids kit not magic model) the one clay thats brown (forgot the name) but make like a crayon shape and let it dry, then use it! Its amazing for some small sketchs. :)
1. Sides of books as a replacement ruler. 2. Toothbrush and water to erase pencil/pen marks from fabric(embroidery). 3. Archery wax for strengthening thread. I'm sure there are more but i can't think of all of them atm
Salt and watercolor can make a cool effect. Plus baby oil can be used to blend colored pencil if used in moderation. If you scoop dish soap bubbles onto paper you can drip watercolors onto it and let it dry
Another thing you can do with sponges is use them with paint. Basically you dab the sponge in the paint and then you dab it in the paper to make a really cool texture. Love your vids ❤😊
Silicone ice tray for paint, bonus if they have a lid. Bar of soap for shaping brushes. Makeup brushes for blending brushes. Blush for watercolor. Mascara spoolies or pipe cleaners for cleaning paint nozzles and bottle caps, also can be used as brushes for interesting textures.
One hack I have been using for years is rubbing a bit of chapstick onto polymer clay. It works amazing anyone who works with clay should give it a try!
Sometimes I put a little bit of hand sanitizer in water color (cheap ones I recommend) and clean them with a wet paper towel. So if there’s other color one the plate, it cleans off easily
If you’re a beginner artist, you can use the sponges and put paint on them like acrylic or paint or something and you just dab it on into the background and see if you like the effect
my favorite non-art things to use are paper kitchen towels, they're great for watercolor. i use them to dry brushes, pick up excess paint and clean my palette
You can also use bubble wrap for painting leaves on trees, after you have painted the wood part (?) you can dip bubble wrap in paint and dab areas of the tree
Makeup supplies and art supplies are suprisingly interchangeable ive noticed. Ive ysed paint brushes on my face and makeup brush cleaners for my paints
I just wipe the chalk/ pastel with a baby wipe and then let it dry. Then it’s cleaner so if you rub your face no corn powder thing will get on your face.

also, use cornstarch to thicken cheap acrylic. yellows typically run thin in cheap paint, so
Or with a sponge you can use it as a paint brush for a sponge texture :)
