I gotta tell ya man, I’m 32 years old and I’ve struggled with addiction and alcoholism my either teenage and adult life. My mom passed in a car accident in 2011 and this song really hits my soul.. I’m 5 years clean and sober now and every time I hear this song it gives me chills.. I truly appreciate the lyrics, it’s a nice reminder. Sometimes we forget where we’ve been in our lives after things have been smooth for so long.

Alcohol had such a hard hold on my life, I never viewed myself as an alcoholic because I would go days in between drinking, until it took over my life and the best thing I done was give it up and give my life to God, it wasn’t easy, and it’s not the road most 25 year olds around me are going down. But the bottle never filled the emptiness that I was desperately looking to fill. I’m so thankful God gave me the strength and came down and saved me from myself. It’s been hard, but almost one year sober ❤💜

ADDICTION is a disease not a choice that any mother or father makes for themselves or the children that have no say so in the matter. We lose control because we have a brain disease that makes the impulse almost impossible to resist. I find it hard to maintain long term recovery if u truly are an addict then I dont see how u stay so sober and clean for several years I have found it impossible using all the proper given tools w the program and treatment goin by the book it fails alot of us

My son sent this to me and he is an addict. Ever since my dad passed hes been lost my parents were like parents to him and without them he feels lost. I knew when he died my son would lose it but I never knew what it was going to be this bad. He checked out and all we can do is pray that he checks back in before he overdoses and he can't be helped

I use to be an addict. I have 6 years clean. Its hard to do at first and the first 2 years it is a struggle everyday to stay clean but you can do it. After you hit year 3 you do not even think about it anymore and it is a breeze.

@Kimberly Baldeser keep on keeping on. It is hard sometimes I know. Also congrats on getting clean. Life will be rough sometimes but you just have to push through the rough times. After you get to year 3 it will not even cross your mind even in the hard times. I believe in you but you have to believe in youself too.

This guy makes so much sense to me , I always thought how could I work for the lord in a way I could reach people . I had times
I'd walk the street just talking to people even while drowning in my own addiction to help them with saving their soul . I have a guitar hanging on my dads wall and won't touch it due to my own addiction , by learning that this guy is out their saying everything I ever wanted to say to help others in there dark days brought my mind to think ... seek rehab and do it now ! I am currently in rehab as I type this message . I hear that Voice within me ..., pick up that guitar and step up to the plate..., saving your soul
is saving it on your own in a sense but , seek the higher power as the word tells us . I will take that rusty guitar stringed thing down off that wall and reach out just as Jacob has reached out to me with his songs . My heart is set on this , never give up

Some people say traditional country music has disappeared. I think the genre sounds amazing and looks very promising. Artist like you, Luke Combs, Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapleton as a solo recording artist for the 1st time are just leading the way for the genre to come full circle and back to it's roots. I just turned 21 and about three years ago I lost my great grandfather at the age of 18 and he would have been 90... I spent the last 2 or 3 months taking care of him and I left for a few days and I get a call from my grandma saying papa is in the hospital and right then I knew it was his time to go... and I had every chance to go see him one last time and I didnt he past away that night.. and then the alcohol took over I have done my best to keep it at bay but the past few months have been the worst... and I feel as if it is my fault bc the last words i told him was I'll see you later.
I failed him as a grandson...and I blame my self everyday for his pasting..

This song helped me out so much in a horrible time in my life. Found out my son of 2 years wasn’t actually mine after a DNA test. Didnt know where to turn but this amazing woman I have now was right by my side if I didn’t have her I would have been down a horrible road
Im 36 now. Opiates/Heroin took from 20-30 from me, 6 rehabs, $200-$300 a day just to get up. Been sober 6 years. And sh$t its great. But its always that devil u gotta fight on your shoulder. Best thing i did was move away from where i was from. And never want that life. So anyone struggling. It is the worst ever i kno believe me, but if u got fight and some wanna do good in you. Go through it.

My sister dying last July was the biggest wake up call my sister in my eyes wasn’t a addict but it took her life she was trying to get clean and one night ended her life.. I just want everyone in the world to get clean

lost my father on the 3rd of Jan, 2023. in hospital and passed in his sleep. little over a year before, i left our small country town for the city, went into a mental health ward for 8 months, then transferred to an alcohol and other drug house for another 6 months. long story short, relapsed pretty hard, ended up on the streets again, but him passing has really pushed me to fix myself, if not for myself for him.
Nobody can save your soul but you. Gotta find a way to heal childhood trauma and coding so we can live the life we are worthy of. Letting go of everything we thought we knew and start thinking and processing feelings in a new way. Trying anyways but it’s just so damn hard to change. Maybe one day

I just found out I'm pregnant with my 2nd child on Monday... The baby is saving my soul. 5 years ago I was looking for someone to save my soul also and found out I was pregnant. After over 4 years sober I fell back to my demons when my house burned.. Its been 3 months since then and now I'm looking forward to my 2nd and making it up to my 1st for falling into it again and not being the best mother I can be for the past couple months. I'm determined to make it this time for both of my babies.
