Mel Nowell's Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement

Columbus East High School and Ohio State University's Mel Nowell was enshrined in the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame on April 20, 2024 in Columbus. Bill Hosket accepted his award and shared remarks from Mel, who was unable to attend due to a recent fall.

I always thought that Mel Nowell was way ahead of his time, as he was such a complete player, as I can recall him as one of the first guards to back down defenders in playing in the post area as well as all the other areas where dominant guards were outstanding. Not sure he ever received the recognition that he deserved on the Buckeyes, as those teams were obviously loaded with great talent with Lucas, Havlicek, Siegfried, Joe Roberts, Nowell, etc.
