I've watched other podcasts and interviews with Ed, and this was the best yet. You gave him his space to talk, asked the right questions, and were very supportive of him. And of course Ed is amazing, love to see more of him talking through his emotions and world view. Can't wait to see the next chapter in both your and Ed's lives and careers.
Yeah JRE and the Sean Ryan Show 🤝 seems like he’s been able to tell more and more here I don’t blame him man the things he’s seen why would he want to go into detail and relive it when he most likely relives it everyday just thinking about it good thing he’s getting help 👌
Mark you been killin it bro. The way you've been navigating these pods are top-tier man. You're getting into spaces that I don't see other people getting into. It's a deeper level. This episode with Ed was amazing dude. I've watched several pods with this guy and he's amazing. But I feel like you reached into areas and got things out of him that really makes you feel these amazing stories in the most human of ways. Keep killin it bro.
Holy moly, this podcast is better than any movie Ive watched. The twists and turns, the wisdom, the heart ache and the vivid articulation are something to behold. What a man and what a host. Bless both of you.
Love Ed. Trained with him several times and learned so much. He really needs to write a book on his life and experiences. Great storyteller. God Bless, you Ed.
Every time I see Ed interviewed it’s a different angle and this one so far is my favorite. I spent time in El Paso Texas in the army and so for 3 years saw the borderland life. I have a lot of respect for the Mexican people
In tears listening to Ed talk about what happened to his mom when his brother died. My brother died when he was 18 in a bad car accident. I've never seen the old version of my mom
Ive seen a bunch of interviews with Ed and this is probably the best one I've heard. Just this flow and Ed just going with some great questions to guide the conversion. Well done. His points on therapy and "better" or "normal" after PTSD is such an impactful statement for anyone who's lived with it. You're not the same person as yesterday and you will or should evolving as a human. We will always carry those things but it can become something we help others with. Wearing the scars hits too. If you understand violence in a way many others might not. You can read someone who is "comfortable with violence" when you're around them. Ed is a soft spoken person who I think would shock most people who don't know his skillset.

This was an amazing podcast. Mark did an excellent job with asking important questions to get the most from Ed. I’ve seen Ed on numerous podcasts and this was by far the best. Thank you to both of you!
This guy is cool. Whether he's on a big well known podcast or smaller ones.He always stays the same with all of them. One guy I actually believe for the most part.
For the most part? That’s crazy to say if you’ve watched several hours of him talk during multiple interviews. I avoid only focusing on the negative things people say but that’s so disrespectful to this man. This is as real as it gets. On such a deep level this is as real as it gets. I don’t understand comments like these.
Mark is doing very well with these interviews, the levels of PTSD Ed or anyone that has been through this has to be insane. Seeing what he's seen, the killings, the drug abuse, everything. Amazing insight.
It’s amazing how you can be hilarious and be the Florida man on Flagarant and be the serious , well mannered Mark when you’re interviewing on your own podcast. You always ask your guest the right questions.
Man I'm f***** lovin' your Mexican crime podcasts! Both Ed and Fernando Puente were awesome guests. You're great at asking questions, letting them talk and digging into the conversation to really interesting topics. I'm rooting for you to blow up your channel Joe Rogan level. And of course like every good mexican (in Tijuana) if you're ever in TJ, you are welcome to the carne asada.
Missing Gagnon streams but also loving this. I listen to these at work 2 times over and I love the way you lead the conversation without interjecting and letting the question lead down a path and story. You’re the best and I wish you the best man!
I've never sat and watched a whole podcast over an hour long but I sat and listened to this entire one... Very interesting, very informative, excellent interview.
I needed to do a separate comment. Ed thank you for talking about your journey with PTSD, therapy and sobriety. I know trauma is much more accepted in our world but many still don't seek help until its too late. Slow motion su1cide is what I've watch too many friends attempt to deal with their demons. But knowing youre not alone and you can find some good from that should inspire some of us.
Wow... I've seen a lot of Ed's interviews/podcasts but this one right here... if it was in front of a live audience, it would get a standing ovation!! Thank you Mark and Ed!
Great podcast!! Keep it up Ed your an inspiration that anything is possible and that life doesn’t end if you’re going through tough times. Take care of that little girl brother!
Mark, dude, I've watched any and every podcast Ed has gone and talked on. Your's is HANDS DOWN the absolute best one I've ever seen! I completely understand and feel the pain he has from talking about his problems with alcohol. Ed is an absolute hero, not because, or not JUST because, of his fighting against the cartels and the information and tactics he passes down to others, but instead because of his ability and willingness to open up about his alcoholism and his struggles he dealt with. As a forever recovering addict of heroin and fentanyl I can understand everything he's talking about with substance problems and the physical, mental, and emotional pain and agony involved with not only obtaining sobriety but also maintaining it as well. As a person who used heroin and fentanyl I believe it is actually easier for those who used the same drugs I did, if able to put the people and everything associated with the days of using drugs in the past. I feel alcohol is the absolute most difficult substance to get away from and stay away from. It is almost everywhere you look, restaurants, convenient stores, grocery stores....basically anywhere you go or look, alcohol is staring you in the face, tempting you constantly. For me to slip up or relapse I have to call someone to call someone then drive way out of my way. I used to absolutely despise alcoholics, but after getting sober and celebrating almost 27 months clean and knowing the everyday struggles to stay sober I can sympathize and love to share stories or just sit and listen to stories with people about their struggles. The emotion in this video is awesome, I sat here fixated to every single word and shed tears of compassion and understanding along with Ed and, just man! Awesome, AWESOME episode man!!!!!
Mark, this is a hard one to watch, because I can relate to his randomness in his stories… He is working through the pain…. I hope I get to make the steps that he has made… God bless u both!!!
Damn! This podcast is slowly turning to my favorite. Great to hear this side of Ed, more personal and bare. Mark, you got top tier interviewing skills!
Something that neither Fernando Puente or Ed Calderon mentioned is that corridos have existed in Mexico since the mid 1800s. They became popular during the Mexican Revolution as a away to communicate news or memorialize battles or heroic acts of revolutionaries or other events. The first corrido about drug trafficking was recorded in 1931, titled "El Pablote," a Juarez trafficker known as "The King of Morphine."
I’ve watch a lot of Ed’s interviews but this one might be the best. Let him talk when he was talking and getting emotional but asking questions at the right time and wonderful questions not to flossed with ads and bs good shit marky mark
I’m the beginning whe he was talking about his brother for some reason all I could keep thinking of is dewy cox-walk hard n the dad being like “the wrong brother died”
@@CampGagnon not a dig brother, so much podcasts out there didn’t think you would produce must listen to episodes. I only watch Flagrant here and there.
As a current alcoholic, it's really nice to have someone not just treat it like a addiction to beat. I've gone days without it. But pain deep horrible pain. Thats the real attachment making it so easy to keep.
What a fucking podcast. One of my favorite podcast ever if not my favorite. I heard this whole podcast while I was working made my day go by fast kept me intrigued and hoped for it not to end. Ed is a great man to hear and learn from. Thankfully some of us will never live that type of violence but can learn lessons from his story. I hope he’s ok and continues to live a good life as he deserves it.
Your such a great interviewer Mark. The sympathy in your eyes when he talked about hard times...felt like I could see you appreciating your life in real time. Ed makes ya think, for sure. @@CampGagnon

I feel exactly the same way
naw shawn ryan is better
Ed also is more coherent and stuff being sober. Going to therapy. He definitely acts differently. Proud of him.
