Thank you for sharing this! John Fraser was to me a very flower of beauty and utterly divine as Bosie in 'The Trials of Oscar Wilde.' Also this second song gives me "The Boy With the Thorn in His Side" vibes :D
Just finished reading his autobiography, CLOSE UP, fascinating and well-written. I had just rediscovered him, vaguely recalling him in old British films, on his Facebook page, where I sent him a message. By the time the book arrived, John had just died in November. Pretty cool to see his great performance in THE TRIALS OF OSCAR WILDE on UA-cam, where he played opposite Peter Finch and was BAFTA nominated, and to hear him singing back in the 50s.
I read his autobiography while I worked in Slovakia. I moved to work in Kurdistan in 2017 and emailed the address on his fanpage in 2018. To my surprise, I got a reply. (Apparently he had played Hamlet in Iraq during his Middle East tour after he stepped down from making films, so I don't know if this spurred a reply. Possibly he replied to all.) There was a polite invitation to call by if I got back to London. I returned in Sep 2020. I thought I might email again - not to wangle an invitation, but just to reply. I had left it quite a while as I didn't know what was a decent interval to leave before replying to an email from an actor. Sadly, I read of his death in Nov 2020 and it was too late. I tried to find the webpage again to send condolences to his partner, but alas it had been removed.
As has been said, such a gorgeous looking man, and a writer and singer as well as an actor! His autobiography is interesting, and there's another book about performing Shakespeare in odd places.
Beautiful looking young man......just reading his fascinating autobiography.....the second song taking on a whole new meaning.
