Concerning the onboard announcement. A flight time of ONE hour 35 minutes GIB - LHR is impossible. I have been flying to/from GIB on and off since the mid 1970's. Landings in heavy winds can be a scary and I would imagine there is a higher than average probability that the flight may be diverted, but on the basis that to date no accidents have occurred, it would be hard to say that the airport was dangerous. Until about 15 years ago, the Spanish authorities would not permit a GIB bound aircraft to divert directly to Malaga (AGP) or any other Spanish airport for that matter. The aircraft was required to divert to Morocco (Usually Tangier TNG) then file a new flight plan for a flight from TNG to AGP from where the passengers were taken by bus to GIB. Of course, prior to 1983 when the frontier between Spain and Gibraltar was re-opened, in the event of such a diversion the passengers would have to remain in Morocco until they could be transferred to GIB by air or ship directly (ie not via Spain) due to the frontier being completely closed. Have experienced a TNG then on to AGP diversion in the early 2000's after a frightening double attempt to land in heavy winds, but not a pre-1983 diversion. Would be interesting to hear from anybody who had what happened exactly. The experience of crossing the runway on foot or in a car is unusual but in reality it is not really any different to if there was a railway line there and the pedestrians and cars had to stop at the barriers for trains to pass instead of aircraft. Concerning flights to destinations other than the UK, GB airways (formerly Gibair) used to operate twice daily services 5 days a week between GIB and TNG using Vickers Viscount aircraft until about 1990. The flight took about 10-20 minutes depending on take off and approach directions at each end of the journey. The only in-flight 'service' was a trolley selling cartons of duty free cigarettes. On Fridays, when visitors from Morocco would come to Gibraltar shopping, the Viscount was often grossly overloaded on the evening return to TNG. I recall on one occasion the aisle being completely blocked by passenger hand baggage consisting of plastic dustbins filled with shopping. The aircraft was very heavy and we climbed out of GIB so slowly I seriously thought that we would not make it, but we did. Back in the early 70's 2 weekly BEA trident flights operated LHR-GIB-RAK. Royal Air Inter (Moroccan domestic carrier) also operated a weekly flight to Tetouan at one point in the 60's/70's. In the early 90's GB airways 737-200's operated daily LHR-GIB-TNG services. Another very curios flight that operated during the 60's and 70's was a once weekly BEA subsequently BA Vickers Vanguard flight (definately still operating in 1975) which operated LHR-MAD-GIB, despite what I have said above and despite the frontier between GIB and Spain having been closed by General Franco. During the early 2000's flights to Morocco did not exist. In the early 2000's there was a short lived GIB-MAD operation and during this period I recall seeing the almost unbelievable sight of an Iberia aircraft on the ground at GIB airport.
Haven't addressed the issue of "dangerous". A 5500 foot runway is very minimal for landing and as can be seen they actually use most of it to turn around at the end. Any amount of significant cross wind component requiring extra speed or water on the runway doesn't leave any margin for error. Clearly they have built pier extensions at both ends to accommodate modern jet traffic, there must be significant sea floor drop off if they couldn't build any more. Diversion to Malaga must be very time consuming and Spaniards likely delay matters with formalities.
I have the same feeling as you...I was born in the UK lived there forever, moved to Australia, then to California...So now I love returning to the UK..But now I spend a lot of time back in the UK.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Yes the tunnel will be complete by the time you arrive I think and open, so I don't think cars will cross over, they were talking about buses for people who are walking.
Awesome video,Gibraltar airport is very unique indeed.I sure liked the style of the terminal and British Airways seemed like a nice flight too, great job very enjoyable.
Another great vlog, and this is my favourite route doing it at least 8 times per year both for TP runs and duty free. The Government have nearly completed the new airport tunnel that runs around the top of the airport then onto Devil Towers road, no more vehicular traffic will be able to cross and there is a lot of debate on what foot pedestrians will do, it's been hinted that the airport will provide shuttle buses through the new tunnel. Either way you experienced the right of passage by walking over the runway before its stopped later in the year.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. WOW you are flying it a lot, yeah it has some good fares for TP runs if you need the points. Yeah I noticed the tunnel was almost finished, so that will then kill of this really unique situation and it will sadly be gone for no one to enjoy anymore. But I guess its more practical and safe.

THE HOLY QUR'AN AND THE EXPANDING UNIVERSE. ALMIGHTY ALLAH THE MASTER CREATOR Who can claim 1350 years ago that the universe is expanding? والسماء بنينها بايد و انا لموسعون o " And the heaven We built it with power, and indeed, We are the expander " (And We it is Who make the vast extent, thereof ) (Qur'an, 51:47) Until 1931, physicist Albert Einstein believed that the universe was static. An urban legend attributes this change of perspective to when American astronomer Edwin Hubble showed Einstein his observations of redshift in the light emitted by far away nebulae - today known as galaxies. After Hubble discovered that the universe is expanding, Einstein called his view of the cosmological constant his "greatest blunder." At around the same time, larger telescopes were being built that were able to accurately measure the spectra, or the intensity of light as a function of wavelength, of faint objects. It is clearly mentioned by Almighty Allah as His sign and its explanation was left for peoples who studied, researched and presented theirs findings. Almighty Allah is the Master Creator of the whole universe. He says: Should He not know what He created? And He is the Subtile, the Aware. The knowledge of scientists is very limited and it is not justified to reject the existence of Almighty Allah who originated the univdrse and created the mankind. But theirs constant efforts to understand the universe is highly appreciated and we thank them that they tried theirs best to explain the explanation of the universe. @Feiner Fug Almighty Allah told us this fact 1450 years ago.To day we see that both seas are separate not mixed. If it mixes then why we see them separated? Do you think that 1450 years are not enough to encroach one upon another. Of course there may be some scientific reason for why they do not encroach. After all we see that both seas are separated not mixed. It is Almighty Allah the originator of the universe and Creator of the mankind Who told us about this natural phenomenon not man made gods. Look at Sundays And Thursday and its there.
When I Travel The World Surely Gibraltar to UK can be classed as International!
@@11370LB Technically not, even though the flight passes over international territories it's not as Gibraltar is part lf the UK, it would work the same if there was a flight from the falklands to london, even though it would be 10+ hours and extremely difficult to call it a domestic flight it would technically still be one
Ex RAF Jaguar parked up on far side.
Oh cool, I did not notice that.
Can you smoke in that outdoor viewing area?
I don't think you can. Though there is nothing stopping you from trying.
@@Whenitraveltheworld I love Gibraltar - been there about 3 times . . . Only asking because many British friendly areas usually cater to us with bad habits - the whole world is against us . . . =( Thanks!
I need to review my statements for proper English, but i do enjoy all the travel vlogs as can't afford to travel much.
Glad you enjoy them.
I prefer their original video with the animation.
yeah that was pretty good.
Wonder not many airlines want to fly there directly.
Probably as not a lot of viable routes for airlines from the airport.
Nice one as usual - great airport.
However, I cannot stand BA's Safety Video. Drives me insane..........
Thank you, glad you liked it, Its not the worst safety video, but its something I don't mind.
@Jerome O'Mara It is always better for an airline to stick to the facts of the safety demonstration rather than a bullshit attempt at comedy, where the comedy becomes the focus rather than the location of the emergency exits. Plus its annoying as hell - ask your favourite BA FA next time.
Britain with Sun!
100 % correct :)
Flown from Gibraltar a few times.. Interesting little Airport. Crazy thing is despite being in the South of Spain your are technically still in the UK when I Gibraltar. I remember when being in Spain and I had to fly back via Gibraltar I found things costing £'s instead of Euros to be very bizarre.. Honestly I always trust the pilots at this airport.. It's no worse than London City really where you could end up in the thames If things went wrong.. Anyway great vid as ever :)
Thank you for watching it and the great comment, yes its a fun airport. I was surprised how big the renovation was for it with the small amount of flights it has.
Not what the Gibraltarians think or want! Perhaps in your seemingly socialist world their views matter not!
@Geoff Scott-Simpson it simply is Spain
It’s not dangerous. Most of us drive across that runway every weekend to go to Spain.
Thanks for watching and the comment. I thought the traffic was going to be diverted on the new road around the airport.
Thanks for the reply!
Necer been to GIB
Its a fun place, and Spain just a short walk away.
Great video but I prefer your videos with commentary.
Thank you, plenty more commentary videos to come.
I live in Gibraltar and it’s no problem :/ Lol
Thanks for watching and the comment.
Feet? Feet? That's all we get to see of the "gorgeous" cabin staff is their feet? LOL
Well I didn't want to film their faces on this one.
Answering your ridiculous, click bait, Daily Mail headline question. The last fatal incident was in 1943, nothing to do with the airfield, but mechanical on the B29 on climb out. Do some research.
Did you not read my note about that crash ? It was actually a B-24.
Who was surprised it was a Women Pilot
I think a lot of people are.
Who is surprised you can't spell five letter words?
Wills Womble ye ye, it was auto corrected I was rushing
Jerome O'Mara some one who fly’s the plane duh?
Why would anyone be surprised?
So you have no answer to your question
Nope not really :)
THE HOLY QUR'AN
AND THE EXPANDING UNIVERSE.
ALMIGHTY ALLAH THE MASTER CREATOR
Who can claim 1350 years ago that the universe is expanding?
والسماء بنينها بايد و انا لموسعون o
" And the heaven We built it with power, and indeed, We are the expander "
(And We it is Who make the vast extent, thereof )
(Qur'an, 51:47)
Until 1931, physicist Albert Einstein believed that the universe was static. An urban legend attributes this change of perspective to when American astronomer Edwin Hubble showed Einstein his observations of redshift in the light emitted by far away nebulae - today known as galaxies.
After Hubble discovered that the universe is expanding, Einstein called his view of the cosmological constant his "greatest blunder."
At around the same time, larger telescopes were being built that were able to accurately measure the spectra, or the intensity of light as a function of wavelength, of faint objects.
It is clearly mentioned by Almighty Allah as His sign and its explanation was left for peoples who studied, researched and presented theirs findings.
Almighty Allah is the Master Creator of the whole universe. He says:
Should He not know what He created? And He is the Subtile, the Aware.
The knowledge of scientists is very limited and it is not justified to reject the existence of Almighty Allah who originated the univdrse and created the mankind.
But theirs constant efforts to understand the universe is highly appreciated and we thank them that they tried theirs best to explain the explanation of the universe.
@Feiner Fug
Almighty Allah told us this fact 1450 years ago.To day we see that both seas are separate not mixed. If it mixes then why we see them separated?
Do you think that 1450 years are not enough to encroach one upon another.
Of course there may be some scientific reason for why they do not encroach.
After all we see that both seas
are separated not mixed.
It is Almighty Allah the originator of the universe and Creator of the mankind Who told us about this natural phenomenon not man made gods.
Allah says :
" Should He not know what He created? And He is the Subtile,
the aware",
(Qur'an,67:14)
