This song holds a deep meaning for me. Having been raised in a high demand religious community (some would call it a religious cult), as a woman I was told that my voice, my thoughts and what I had to say was not important. It is something I always struggled with and after deconstructing for the last 8 years, I still sometimes do. So I can literally feel every word in this acoustic cover of Sia's "Bird Set Free”. This cover feels like my faith transition - sadness and anger over how I was held back in life by those harmful beliefs, but also happiness about setting myself free and finding my own path.
I am a total beginner at all this, just recording with my phone and started learning playing the guitar 6 months ago. Let me know what you think!
